Thanks LaV. I wish that I were the kind of person that they think I am. I try to be that person. They are so pure, so loving, so angelic, so trusting. It breaks my heart.

i had the funniest experience today
i was eating lunch outside
and this dog ( i think it was a boxer... actually, i'm pretty sure it was) came up to me

he ( or she?) had these big melancholic eyes
and was just staring and staring and STARING at me eating my lunch

well, i didn't know what else to do so i gave it a slice of tomato
well, the little doggie sniffed and licked the tomato
but then decided that it wasn't worth its efforts

so, i thought.. hmmm... maybe some lettuce? i had some butter lettuce too in my salad...and

ever since i saw that rawkin video where there are throngs of dogs eating grass and chewing on plants, i'm thinking...

hmmm... "why not"?

so, i give it some lettuce
well, the cute lil boxer sniffs and sniffs at the lettuce and then sort of chortles away from it

then this dude from another table throws a piece of bread at the dog
and the dog just snaps it up in 2 pico seconds

he does it again and the dog snaps it up yet.. agaiinnn..

even though i never owned a pet, at this point, i'm feeling totallley rejectted ( ha harr.. jus kiddingsmiling smiley

no, but really... it just made my heart go out to this boxer

cuz i'm wondering how this creature is faring

if people keep feeding Weber's processed bread

but it was a peaceful little dog

and it sort of made my day just by being there

If you like nature, especially birds, you may enjoy Winged Migration. A lot of work went into making it and I felt lucky to get to see it. It's a documentary about some different bird types migrating.

I will spoil one thing and say the one bird does not get eaten by the crabs. It may be nature but I still dont like watching anyone ganged up on and preyed upon. In the special features portion it is told that the bird was rescued from that particular fate. Anyway I highly recommend it.

hey jgunn

r u talking about the che guevara movie
motorcycle diaries or something like that?

or are u talking about " JESSSE JAMES RIDES AGAIN: HEEE HARRRR"

the motorcycle diaries made me feel a bit disoriented
i personally couldn't stand it
i don't know whyyyyyy....
i guess, its cuz i always pictured che as having *^& of steel and they put this
half wheezing dude who looks like he forgot his cuff links and has this perpetual expression of a deer caught in headlights and i'm thinking
THATTTTTTT is CHE?

no... that couldn't have been an accurate portrayal of the CHE man.. even if it WUZ supposed to be BEFORE Che developed a MAJOR case of spines of steel.

i'm always rooting for the crab

and the lion to get its prey

if they don't wanna end up as lunch

they're gonna need to learn how to run or put up a good fight ..

its the animal kingdoms
and that's what crabs and lions do...

we're lucky we can just get a fruit from the tree instead of having to run around risking our lives for every dan+%$ meal

Yes la-veronique, I am very grateful I do not have to hunt to eat. I guess predators can go through all kinds of trials and failed attempts. They can get kicked etc. in the process and be seriously injured.

I have a particular sympathy for Cheetahs from a video I saw. Apparently they often work very hard to catch a meal only to have someone bigger and/or stonger, like a leopard, come and take it from them, geeze.

I too would do what I must to eat. That includes hunting and also what some of the folks from the Donner Party had to resort to. Thank goodness I can go to the store and buy food I choose (If codex doesnt take that choice away). Thank goodness I can plant a garden.

Even so, I still am uncomfortable when a group of predators go after a chosen prey. Call me squimish.

PS I have trouble making the - in your name go to the bottom of the line.

la-veronique,

It said the cheetahs were faster but the leopards were stronger. Also, I think it said other critters like lions and hyenas also will steal from a hard working cheetah. If the cheetah is exhausted from making the kill and along comes someone stronger or a whole group of someones, what can the cheetah do but watch supper go away? Meanwhile it has expended valuable energy on the hunt.

The video on cheetahs was on PBS's Nature series I think.

I'm sorry for the Donner Party, I can't blame them for what they had to do.

I think of Che as so Latino but he wasn't at atll, really. He was half Irish, half Basque.

the only movie i liked keanu reeves in was when he was portraying this horrible
irascible redneck lout

i mean, his behaviour didn't turn me on ( don't get me wrong, i think mean guys are losers and i treat them as such tongue sticking out smiley

HOWEVER... he just seemed to FINALLY break out of his wooden, hollow, stilted MATRIX statue like mold

and had SOME personality tongue sticking out smiley

some FIRE or somethin or other

i think i liked his scruffy goatee and the fact that his personality seemed to have some pulse

whereas in the MATRIX, i almost fell asleep or tried REAL hard to stay awake watching him

he didn't seem to have any expression externally or internally

that makes me sleeeeeepy smiling smiley

why on EARTH the entire world seemed to have fallen for MATRIX is beyond me

sure, i get the underlying themes... but heck.. we are SURROUNDED by holographic this and that

the holograph of our own minds, the holograph of technological mimicries, the holograph of conditional relationships ( that pretend to be unconditional), the holograph of socioeconomic positions, the holograph of race even... which is quite a HUGE holograph if u think about -it for just one second ( genetically and geographical origination - wise)

anyhow... holographs within holographs within holographs... and the MATRIX just was overkill trying to show that ... and our dependence on it....

i'm sure there were other things that people got all hot about

but i couldn't tell WHAT they were

( sorry to all those who LOVVVVVVVVE the MATRIX)

some parts were all right

but i felt SUFFOCATED watching it ( all my friends seemed to have gobbled it all up and always wanted me to watch it on video with them... i tried... REALLLY, i swear.. i DID try... but i could never finish it from beginning to end)

maybe i'll be a good friend, and try again

i admit, parts of it were intriguing

but then , it got all armageddon, shooting bullets, asphyxiating maze building syndrome like.. and that made me go into catatonia again...

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........

anyhooo... glad this thread is up again... kinda misssed it.. kinda forgot about it
