Pakd4fun wrote: "But I am a raw foodist because I believe in it and aspire toward it." I think that this is right. It is good and profitable to see oneself as one aspires to be rather than as one presently is. This is how a vision unfolds and how we grow into our destiny or dreams for the future. Of course there are those who talk and never do: the wannabes who want the glory

morning glories just wanted to post a note to my friends from the 7 Week All Raw thread...and a howdy do to everyone else as well. I really miss you guys and hope that all of you are doing well. I'm persevering: trying to tackle several bad habits at once while exploring my belief system and working a lot on my goals and dreams for the future - near and far - while trying to stay patien

"Everything can be taken from a man but ...the last of the human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." Victor Frankl from "Man's Search for Meaning" I think that everyone should read the book from which the above quotation was clipped. Victor Frankl was a victim of the concentration camps of Hitlers' Germany

I think people confuse the word "sympathy" with the word "compassion". Sympathy is a weak word in my opinion, it implies allowing others to stay in a position of powerlessness and commiserating with them there. Compassion on the other hand reminds people of their power and responsiblilty in ALL situations and circumstances and does not allow others to wallow in their own @#$%&

Good morning everyone! It's hard to believe that this is the last day of our 7 weeks already! Just goes to prove the ole adage, "time flys when you're having fun". Happily, there is no reason to say goodbye as we will continue to "see" each other on the forum and beyond...and I will begin a new 7 weeks very soon for those of you who are interested in doing this again. Lots of rest and then more rest which includes resting from dense, heavy food as well; dry brushing and sweat baths with herb teas that assist in detoxification, such as dandelion root, would be helpful as well. I would also concentrate on foods high in immune-boosting nutrients, such as cantaloupe (try making some cantaloupe milk) for the B vitamins, oranges and lemons for vitamin C and etc.

Good morning! I'm weighing in at 145 - that's an approximate 8lb. reduction from 153 when we began the 7 weeks. I go through phases of not paying a great deal of attention to my appearance and weight to becoming Miss Vainy Voluptua for awhile. Recently, I haven't been paying much attention: not weighing, not preening, not worrying about clothes, makeup, hair. So this morning I was a bit surpri

hey kewl! I learn something new every day from you guys. The next time I make a watermelon smoothie (which will actually be my first time), I'll be sure to add the seeds. I always chomped on them as a kid and then began spitting them out as an adult (about the same time that I quit swallowing my gum). It kinda sucks being an adult sometimes doesn't it? khale

<<<<grinning>>>> you know what they say Prism...sexy minds think alike. But can you imagine just how itchy that fig leaf must have been to poor Adams, uh, fruit? Every time I pick figs I get itchy hands and forearms, so I can well imagine... here's to fig burn! To paraphrase Paul: It's better to eat figs than to lust for them khale

Elakti!, so good to hear from you...sounds to me that you are doing fantastically well. Gosh! but I love the company I'm in! Pakd4fun: First you scoop the seeds, put them in the blender and add water...somewhere between 4 and 6 cups depending on the amount of seeds and how rich you want the "milk". Then you strain this to remove the pieces of seeds, and put the strained juice back in

Good morning my peoplez! How do it do? Yesterday morning I tried a big glass of banana milk and really liked it a lot. It's a very good "glug, glug" kind of drink; nice for in the mornings. I was low on food (Tuesdays are shopping days) so brought nothing else with me beside the banana milk, so by the time 3:00 p.m. rolled around and I was finishing up with work, I had honed a who

Regardless of where you end up on the B12 debate, as a noob raw foodie (which is what I consider myself to be as well) there are more important things to concern yourself with now...like STAYING RAW. There is plenty of time to worry about the B12 thing. Besides, its not like B12 supplements are hard to find, if you decide you'd like to use them. And detox can be managed according to your own

I'll PM you asaik I'll be back with my dailies later, khale

How are you eating the carrots? Bugs Bunny style or juiced? Because certain high fiber foods, like carrots and apples, will often give me a pseudo-hunger feeling in my stomach...something about the fiber. And yes, I know, its SUPPOSED to do the exact opposite, but it doesn't work that way for me. As for fats, I would encourage you to allow some just starting out raw. It doesn't take that much

good morning suncloud: I'd LOVE to meet you! I am working to set aside funds for our trip to Sedona in October and to clear up some unfinished money business so that I can begin formally studying Naturopathy by the first of next year at the latest, but I'm open to considering this small road trip if pakd4fun is game. I know that she has travel plans near and far too. We'll see how it goes.

I don't find that the "principles" of taste and flavor are that different raw than cooked. If one can throw together a cooked meal then one can throw together a raw meal. For instance, if I were going to prepare a raw tomato soup, I would use exactly the same ingredients as I would if I were to cook it. Some of the seasonings would be adjusted perhaps, as raw garlic is somewhat diffe

...so much to respond to! I love Arkansas, figs, and pakd4funs' long posts. My Dad will have ripe figs in a few weeks and I can't wait. Myst: I took a camping/road trip to Eureka Springs one summer and just loved the whole state. Since then I've made several short trips to Hot Springs for the weekend. It's the closest spot near me with the biggest difference in scenery and etc. Always a

This has been an incredible adventure! and it's only just beginning! I've had to take a good, long look at my lifestyle, my companions and relationships, my thought-processes and attitudes, my relationship to food, family traditions and the social milieu in which I find myself. Some of this has been painful, and remains so, and I've discovered a tendency to self-sabatoge; to be "lost"
