I've gone in both directions. Some days I would...and others not. My overall experience is one of compromise. I think a nice walk....CAN be no problem. Fasting often releases much nervous energy....especially if some one is working 'against' thinking about food. I think a nice walk in nature is certainly fine for those in that do have that energy to do so. -David Z. Mason

For those that are eating healthy...or getting crap about their weight...I often remark that there are very few diseases associated with being at a low weight....if getting the proper nutrition....as opposed to the opposite (high weight and low nutrition is a recipe for diabetes and circulatory issues). -David Z. I think a single citrus-type fast MIGHT give rise to acute detox in someone that is rather unhealthy internally. This might cause acne...breakouts...or any other of the type of reactions related to detox. This NOT the almighty orange's fault! ha! ha! Any true health gauge must come from a series of small, regular-type cleanses....followed by an improved diet. It is my experience that those

I sometimes have discussions about veganism....not often....heh...heh. I preach in very small numbers....heh...heh. In any event, to ME...and my mind & practice...veganism is a smokescreen. It's a lot less about not eating meat (although I originally started eating this way for health reasons)....I rapidly realized that my veganism (and any other healthy action I was doing) was a way to s

I certainly agree with you Mislu. Diet is a very concrete way that intelligences link up.....and therefore it is a very powerful force.....almost a religion to some. It is not simply some simple choice....like whether I'm going to wear black socks or white socks under my slacks....heh..heh. I always feel that personal success arises from the support and love I'm able to show to others and to m

I think your time frame is excellent. I only wish others were as reasonable at setting long-term goals! I think your pursuit is certainly excellent. I don't think it's hard to change diet permanently if one sets the right small goals.....and plans a LIFESTYLE....and a frame of thinking....and if one is prepared to live/eat the way they wish without feeling defensive. I'm a guy.....and pe

Sure. Plenty of movies that have lessons. I watched Memento last night. I love the moral of being aware of the consequences of our actions - and not letting complacency simply take over. Heh..heh. -David Z. Mason

My brother worked at a major grocery here in Florida - Publix - and he told me that they (very quickly) stopped donating out of date products and not-so-hot produce to charity due to liability reasons. Instead, they simply throw away 1000's of dollars worth of food. It's unfortunate we live in such a litigious society. The point is: larger stores may not offer damaged produce as a policy - bu

Mislu: I personally am big into lists. It's a form of self-questioning. I like to make a list of what I think are the WORST things I am eating on one side....and the BEST things I could possibly eat on the other. It gives a sort of visual aid of what my instincts really are. You know? -David Z. Mason

It sounds frustrating, but there are alternatives. You CAN try to lower your metabolism a bit. Water fasting for a couple of days will definitely do this. Eating fewer/larger meals will help in this regard as well. And additional muscle mass - as Bryan indicated. Avoid medications and stimulants - especially caffeine or nicotene. These are some things you can do - if it would make you more co

Very enlightened Mislu! Yes. The question is always before us: What are we going to DO.....NOW? -It is the quality of this perseverance and attitude that defines our lives - and only to a lesser degree the results or lack thereof. Don't you think? -David Z. Mason

Hmmm... I don't know the EMPIRICAL truth of this (perhaps some one else can chime in). I know that I have read that there is some basic life energy that you are allotted at birth....and use up never to be replaced.....while there is other energy that you CAN build up and harness. There is probably some truth to that sort of concept. What do YOU think? -David Z. Mason

Congratulations on your efforts! I am a relativistic person. I believe that an individual needs to strive to meet THEIR goals that THEY believe are important....and work within the bounds of what THEY believe are important. If YOU think eating raw is important...than you should strive to hit your goal mark....whether that is 100%, 50% or 1%. If it is NOT a goal than don't worry about it.

Right! In my experience, you can/do achieve excellent results by simple upping your percentage of fresh fruits & vegetables. You don't HAVE to have expensive machines or organic only to show vast improvement. Here are some practical tips: 1) It's all about who you know! Try to find local small produce stores that will sell you dented produce on the cheap! 2) Make your diet center aroun

Hey Di! Thank you for your great questions. Eating 'raw' CAN be as simple as just buying and eating tons of the fresh fruits and vegetables that you love. Developing that habit....and being secure in your boundaries in social situations....will be your biggest challenge - in my opinion. I think eating raw can certainly help with bloating and gas.....especially when you eat more simply....

I call a friend...or my Mom....or go for a run......or watch a movie I've been dying to see....or start a book that I've been dying to read...heh...heh. Or I'll get a new video game I've been dying to play.... Of course, I can always sit and just come back to the mantra...."This is the way things ARE......and THIS is what I'm going to DO." You know? -David Z. Mason

It sounds stressful - and it IS difficult. There are always folks - even loved ones - telling us that our dreams are not valid. It is important to develop a good sense of boundaries and communicating those clearly to our loved ones. Of course, we need to make decisions that do allow us a condusive environment. If just being around some meat eaters for a while changed her behaviors....then she

Coconuts are always hit and miss. I try to buy from a location that goes through coconuts quickly....and find ones that seem to be the least old. I always make sure (like with watermelons) that where I buy them from will take them back if I get a bad one! Heh..heh....so no big deal. -David Z. Mason

That's great! Sooner or later, most folks that eat this way will eventually go to a raw food 'potluck' or get together.....or maybe even a festival......or just meet another person who is very curious and open. These are the great moments! Heh...heh. I don't mean to be discouraging....but I've been eating this way for about 10 years and I have yet to make one 'convert' ha! ha! What I DO see is my

Hmmm....I have no scientific take on this....although my own experience/opinion is that there is a germ of truth to the idea that human tissues constructed from a 100% diet are somewhat different...and perhaps more resilient. Again, this is strictly a non-scientific impression.
