rost0037, genetics do have a lot to do with where fat is stored, but not everything. In fact, there are several conditions, including but not restricted to diabetes and insulin resistance, polycystic ovarian syndrome, sleep deprivation or disturbance, and alcohol consumption that can affect the accumulation of belly fat specifically. It's interesting to note that a number of factors, including

You've gotten some good advice. In future, store mushrooms in a paper bag.

I don't have a reference handy right now, but I read a few years ago that in some cases, people who get recurring UTIs have a much higher percentage of a certain strain of e-Coli in their guts, and this is why they are more sensitive. Also, I've read that women who are sexually active can be re-infected from their partners (not just through passive movement of bacteria as a result of sex, but the

Also, there's an application trick that might help you; apply the oil to damp skin, not dry. This means you need much less oil, and so it absorbs faster. It also works better.

Google Scholar is a better source. There look to be a number of promising articles on the search 'raw diet' on google scholar: UPDATE: Actually, here's an even better link:

I live in Vancouver, Canada, and I recently saw this article (which has comments enabled, as you can see): The article is regarding a private members' bill (in our parliament - the Canadian federal legislature) trying to update (and toughen) our animal rights laws (which haven't been updated since 1892). I submitted a comment in the late afternoon of February 12 in reply to the second from

@Lee_123 Cool!! @Maui_Greg... Check out this link: Quote: 12-Feb-2008 - Almost one-third of cholesterol reductions achieved by consuming a heart-healthy diet are due to plant sterols, suggests a new study from Canada that supports the ingredient's efficacy.

Lee, just an FYI, there's no cholesterol in plant foods. Only animal foods. So we aren't getting any outside cholesterol, good or bad, if we are vegan. We do get lots of other good 'sterol's, tho. MauiGreg, I don't want to deter you from whatever you're doing, but I don't think you should worry too much about this and I don't think it's necessarily useful to try to move the process along with

For me, breakouts on my shoulders and neck don't have anything to do with additives - in fact I got my worst breakouts with a very natural olive oil soap. I think it was the PH of the soap, either too acid or too alkaline. If I were you, I'd just try a splash of ACV diluted in 5 parts water to the area after bathing.

Hi back! Also in Vancouver, Canada. There's a Lower Mainland thread in this forum, which has posts from many of us in the GVRD, and there are a couple of Canada threads too. Check them out!

Spots on your neck and shoulders are often caused by staphylococcus rather than propionibacterium acnes, the strain of bacteria associated with acne. I find that certain soaps cause staph breakouts, and also if I have an iron deficiency.

I used to be a heavy henna user. Blonde henna will give your hair a nice shine and will bring out blonde highlights, but it will not actually make your hair any lighter. Only ammonia or peroxide will do that. ;-)

I don't drive and I don't plan to any time soon, but an old-fashioned looking (but late model) powder blue Mercedes SL600 V12 coupe (hard top) caught my eye recently. The one I liked I don't think is the most recent model. It looks like a jag sportscar from the front and a BMW compact from the back.

I'm assuming that the 'meeting place' designation can also apply to virtual meetings? I've noticed that lots of folks on RFS have blogs (many of which I have read and enjoyed!), and I thought I'd start at thread to a) give people a chance to post their blog links in a central place, and b) to discuss networking through blogoverse communities. First, my blog is , and it's the corporate blog
