Feeling good about my food. Things seem to be clearing up since Christmas time - that is when I started transitioning to raw again. Although I have been eating clean for a couple of years now. No sugar or etc. If I am kept busy and I am out being active and leading a normal life, I do not feel like eating. Today, I sorted through clothes and many of my possessions because I am moving soon. I

I have been doing great lately. I have started to be more active - I walk to the local shops and catch a bus in to town, do a Pilate’s class, and catch a bus back to town, and walk home. About 25 minutes each way, plus the Pilate’s. I also stay active through out the day - I do a little bit mid day - to the early afternoon, and than come home to relax for 2 - 4 hours. I than go to

Wow. I would be miserable if I disliked eating. I am very happy that I actually enjoy the foods that also happen to be the best for me! Although the reason I genuinely love raw fruits, certain mild greens, and a variety of raw fats, could be because BEFORE I went “ raw”, I still ate a fairly unprocessed diet with virtually no grains - plain sweet potato, raw fruits and vegetables, and an

Haha. I cannot see a single reason to get excited about a fast? What is there to look forward to about not eating? However, because I am trying to vie food more for its fuel rather than cravings and for taste, I view a fast as nothing bad, but nothing good. I have access too food when I want it which I am very grateful for. So fasting for a day, may cause physical discomfort, but at he end of

Personally, I do not think 100% raw vegan is best long term. Although I DO THINK it is best the MAJORITY of the time! I think that existing purely on raw fruit, vegetables, and raw fats for all of your life is not optimal. I think humans need small amounts of fish or SOMETHING else, about twice a week. Maybe even something like plain quinoa, brown rice, or millet. This is a vegan forum so I

I have been eating al of kelp noodles to help with my emotional and physical cravings. I used to have a lot of raw chocolate spread and stuff like that, and I have been trying to eliminate raw cacoa and raw chocolate particularly. I have been craving the kelp noodles a lot - there is something about them that my body needs, I am curious to know if it is physiological? It is hot weather at th

Thanks for that juicerkatz, although I am not at all excited by fasting, because I enjoy eating and am not looking forward to depriving myself of food when I am hungry. Feeling hungry is not something I view as an enjoyable experience that I am looking forward to. However, I am looking forward to one day, being able to DO it, to GO without food like humans always had do throughout our evolutio

If a person has been eating raw food in the proper way for over a few years, they should NOT be craving unnatural types of food. The body does not need foreign substances, such as processed ice cream and packaged goods like cookies. However, plain cooked brown rice, quinoa, and plain old fashioned whole grain oatmeal could be a natural physiological craving, processed cooked food IS NOT natural

Thanks for your feedback! Jodi - to me seems to be what you are looking for .. permission to not eat. Sorry if Im wrong but Im just being honest from experience. Thanks for telling me about your history with disordered eating. However, this could not be further from the truth. I am actually completely AVERSE to restriction…. I had mild anorexia a few years ago, and since that time I ha

Hi! I have had orth orexia before and mild anorexia. I have also tried and failed at a raw food diet. Here is what I have learnt: Never TELL or FORCE yourself to eat a certain way. The healthy way to go about raw, is to simply try to have raw food whenever possible. If you really strongly feel like something else, like brown rice, a burrito, home made pizza, or a salad sandwich, HAVE IT! Jus

I read the rest of your posts and I have a suggestion which may or may not help, so I have nothing to lose by telling you! 100% raw may be your long term ideal. However, it is unrealistic for most people to do this right away at the best of times, let alone when there are non physical, emotional reasons involved. You know, it is inevitable you will eat come cooked food in your transition to

Hi! I read your first post and think that it is not a good idea for you to go straight to a mono diet of all melons so soon after eating processed toxic foods….. I ate an unprocessed, clean Paleolithic style diet that was raw except for animal protein before going raw. On the other hand, you mentioned that you still ate chemicals, additives, and possible sugar and that type of thing? If

I will conclude my journaling for today by explaining the LAST WAY THAT I ATE BEFORE RAW: the way I ate before raw, was the Paleolithic way. It is basically the same as raw vegan, but with animal protein and cooked sweet potato. I ate baked sweet potato for breakfast with cold pressed virgin olive OR flax oil which I would only add after the potato’s were baked. I still only cooked foods that H

FOOD BREAK I am back. So I ate chicken or for both lunch and dinner! I also started going to the gym 3 - 5 days a week for aerobics classes. I gained to 52.5 kilo’s because I was eating much more to compensate for my exercise - about 2400 calories a day. I still had occasional raw days. Maybe once or twice a week, not too often. Then towards Christmas 2009, I started to go raw vegan

This is my first journal post! I have a journal on another raw website, so I am going to duplicate my entries and post them in both journals. I hope it is a good way for new people on this website to get to know me, as my goal of attaining optimal health, partly through diet, is a large part of who I am and I hope to make some friends out of this common goal and mind set. Well, my name is L

Back on topic, I could choose APRICOTS! They are my favorite fruit! Also, I can eat the most quantity of apricots, over any other fruit. Interestingly, I have gone through phases throughout my raw transition. At first, I enjoyed eaten lots of banana’s and apples as mono meals. Where as now, I cannot stand eating more than two of these things. In fact, I do not actually LIKE banana’s any m

An example of my favorite raw treats are: raw cashew coconut butter, ingredients are: raw coconut, raw cashews, raw agave nectar, and a teeny bit of natural salt. Kelp noodles, ingredients: raw kelp Raw brazil nut butter, ingredients: raw brazil nuts, with a teeny bit of natural salt And, VERY OCCASIONALLY, I plan to have raw coconut chocolate butter, ingredients: raw coconut, raw c

Holy cow - I have just read about a person who said they water fasted for 23 days! Honestly, I am being serious, I WOULD DIE if I did not eat ANY food for 23 days………I am not an expert but GOSH - I am not skin and bone, but I DO NOT feel like I have enough weight to spare for 23 days. I am sure I would die. HOW ON EARTH do people go over 20 days…….. Or even 10 days, with NO food?!

Fasting. It is one thing I simple cannot bring myself to do, although I really want to do it once every two weeks or so. Firstly, I have had mild anorexia in the past. Since then, I am absolutely AVERSE to restriction. Even when I am ill, my first concern is how am I going to deal with not eating enough calories, and how I am going to make it up afterwards. Basically, I strongly feel the need

Logically, humans would not have evolved eating large amounts of strong herbs, or strong foods like onions and garlic. The same goes for bitter greens - I feel that if a food taste too strong to have a lot of on its own, than it is not a food that is supposed to be eaten in large amounts? Although, throughout out evolution, we would have had to be opportunistic eaters, therefore I am sure some

I have heard that you can die if you do not EVER eat ANY salt? I agree that salt, like all foods, should be eaten in a form that is unaltered as possible. However, having absolutely NO salt, EVER, can apparently be dangerous. I am not suggesting that it is necessary to have salt daily, but it makes sense to have a teeny sprinkling of salt at least twice a week, to get the right sodium/potas
