Yes, it's bad to just leave the tooth as-is. If you've already had all that work done on it, it sounds like there's not much left. It will get infected, and you don't want an infected tooth hanging out in your mouth - it's very bad for your body as a whole. Best advice I can offer (and cheapest), is just to have it pulled ASAP. Just get rid of it and take very good care of the rest of the

Oh, and it's likely that if there are a lot of stretch marks in those areas, that they won't snap back. In those areas, the connective fibers have broken, and it won't act like normal skin. I got stretch marks under my arms during puberty, and even after I lost weight, I still had extra skin there that interupted the straightness of the arm-line...if that makes any sense.

Could be a dip in blood sugar after the initial high that sugars give (carrots are high in sugar, as are a lot of fruits). Give juicing a rest and start chewing. Other common culprits: dehydration and not consuming enough calories over all. If you're going to juice a lot, at least eat something substantial with it that contains fats or proteins that will stick around longer.

It seems to me that once scars have already been created, especially ones from a long time ago, it's impossible to alter their appearence through diet. If a large wound is in the process of healing, I could see diet, keeping the wound of the sun (new skin cells are very delicate - keep wounds covered and they're less likely to scar) and topical application of things like vitamin E as possible pr

arugula, thank you for taking the time to tackle this post so thoroughly. i got frustrated just thinking about how to begin to respond. also, if people are afraid of using chemical blocks, a lot of sunscreens are made for sensitive skin types that contain physical blockers, like titanium dioxide.

For dressing, I like to use chopped up pieces of avocado, and I pick one up in every forkfull.

Thanks for reminding me, Ally, that vegetables don't have a complete monopoly on green. I guess I was also assuming that you meant only sweet fruits, and I was clearly mistaken.

I've said this before, but perhaps an overlooked answer could be that, with a raw food diet, often calories are in limited supply. This causes weight-loss, and with dramatic weight loss, hair loss can occur. If you haven't lost weight, then you're probably lacking in some vitamin or mineral(s). Although, it all goes back to nutrient deficiencies either way. And if that's not the answer, you c

If you eat acidic fruits, it softens the enamel temporarily. Either make your saliva more alkaline with a baking soda swish, or wait a while to brush. Acidic fruits ARE good for you though (but like everything else, in moderation), especially the gums, as long as we're talking about teeth. And ditto what Funky Rob said.

Mushrooms will do that to you. I ate a lot of mushrooms a week ago, and it wasn't pretty. A LOT of stomach cramping. I know that regular mushrooms will do that to you...something about lots toxins in the stem, but I don't think the same is true for shitake.

Eh, possibly ketosis? Are you losing weight? If you are, it's probably ketosis-breath. People are familiar with it due to the popularity of the Adkins diet, but it can happen when you're eating way fewer calories in general. I don't know about the volume of it, so I'm gonna pass.

jono, As I've posted elsewhere on this board, I used to be a dental assistant, and as a person knowledgeable about most things dental, I'm going to recommend that you start going again. As for your latest experience at the dentist, even though there was only a bit of surface plaque to be removed (here's the important part, so everyone should take note)... EVEN WITH TWICE DAILY BRUSHING AND

Ally, Maybe you could give different kinds of vegetables a shot. I personally can't tolerate broccoli very well (for pretty obvious reasons). Try more mild vegetables like cucumbers and avocados, and maybe carrots. Although, when I eat a TON of carrots, my stomach goes crazy, and it all comes out looking like it did when it went in. ANYWAY, please eat more green stuff! Fruit has so much s

I also personally enjoy vinegar, pickles, etc. I went to the link (rawfoodexplained.com), and I have to say that I'm not totally convinced by the argument. I know that too much salt is bad, but I don't think that it's as bad as this person makes it out to be.

I agree with sunshine. Be wary of loading up on fruits, as in general it is not good for anyone, let alone someone with IBS. Many fruitarians develop diabetes, and they don't realize exactly how much sugar is present in fuits. ANyway, I myself also have an inflammatory condition (interstitial cystitis). Mine is of the bladder, but the syndromes show comorbidity. As I've mentioned elsewhere o

If you find that you're light-headed on a raw diet, your blood sugar could be too low. Try adding a piece of fruit or a starchy vegetable (like corn) to your meals. If it's only when you stand, it could be caused by blood pressure that is too low. In this case, it could mean you're mildly dehydrated. Drink more water, and eat more in general. That should help.

Most raw-foods aren't calorie dense, which is why most people, if they're truly raw, lose so much weight. I am female and don't have problem with this "side effect," but I imagine men might feel a bit different. Conventional wisdom would say to increase lean protein, but it's harder for a vegan to consume such large quantities of protein. I believe that soy is toxic, but I'm afraid t

Hi Shep, I am wary of consuming soy milk, and I definitely wouldn't give it to children. Tofu has shown to be toxic, so I don't touch that either. I've heard that 99% of soy is genetically modified and highly affected by contamination and pesticides. "Soybeans are high in phytic acid, present in the bran or hulls of all seeds. It's a substance that can block the uptake of essential

Turmeric has recently been shown to reduce the inflammation associated with arthritis (among lots of other benefits), and therefore the pain. I actually just started taking Turmeric supplements recently. They don't come with the risk of possible stomach ulceration, and they're obviously organic. If you're uncomfortable taking a supplement, I would add a generous amount of Turmeric to a couple

Hi Mallow, Rosacea is an inflammatory skin condition that causes broken capillaries like you describe, and also visible veins on the face. However, my mother has little red spots on her chest that look like broken capillaries, but she doesn't have Rosacea. I think they're actually dialated capillaries, which is something that comes with aging. I actually started developing them when I was o
