I quit makeup after a huge detox, when gobs of blue and purple eyeliner came out of my nose (AWESOME!). My favorite colors... That was what it took to change my perspective completely. I used to wear it everyday, too. I did the most unique Cleopatra-inspired eyes, I wore Urban Decay, I was hot stuff. Blah blah blah. That was a year and a half ago. Since I've recently gone raw, I've still had s

Also, what is the difference between an almond and a bitter almond? Is there a difference? Can someone also enlighten me about bitter almonds, please, in conjunction with the regular almond confusion? If that's not asking too much~ ^.^;;

If it's the number you have to write on a tag at a bulk store, I'm pretty sure it's different, given all the numbers I've had to write vary from 3-6 digits, depending on the store. The PLU# is on every (or should be!) item of fresh produce at grocery stores. All my organic fruits always had 5 digits and started with a 9. I don't think teas/herbs/etc would have a PLU, unless it was a bunch of n

Interesting story for everyone... I usually buy red, black, and green grapes at the market. Last time I went, I got my usual delicious, plump, beautiful, red and black grapes, although the usual green ones weren't there--there were these GIANT boxes, 4 lbs. for <$2, some ABSURDLY cheap price. Well, why not, right? I tried a huge bowl of mixed grapes with my boyfriend later on. The red

1146. Re: Phases
I had a gala apple phase this fall, even when I was just 50% raw. The apples were local, fresh, amazing... <3 But once they were out of season, I haven't really eaten apples since. Sometimes I was eating 5-6/day. Then it was salads with dark, leafy greens, 3-4 bowls/day. I usually cut green apple on the salad and made a dressing of lime juice and olive oil. This went on for 2-3 months, pre-

"When B17 is introduced to the body, it is broken down by the enzyme Rhodanese. The Rhodanese breaks the Hydrogen Cyanide and Benzaldehyde down into 2 by-products, Thiocyanate and Benzoic acid which are beneficial in nourishing healthy cells and forms the metabolic pool production for vitamin B12. Any excess of these by-products is expelled in normal fashion from the body via urine. Vitamin

Your enthusiasm is a great reminder of my own ambitions, that was a wonderful treat to read. I had a rough day under the wagon yesterday. I hope you'll share your stories of the afterlife. =)

Aha! I have a weight adventure, and I'm @ 10 weeks/100% raw. I guess it's also worth mentioning, I don't use any sweeteners, no nama shoyu, spices and garlic VERY rarely, no onion, no vinegar, and the occasional cacao. I lost my taste for greens about 2-3 weeks into raw, sprout, eat seaweed, and mad amounts of fruit. First month: I ate 3-4000 calories a day, in tons of nuts, avocados, seeds

Thanks a lot, everyone. I will update as I try various things--cilantro seems more accessible to the immediate budget, but Zeolite has intrigued me before as well. The only heavy metal I plan to have around me involves scary Swedish men and guitars! >8)

I just started dry brushing, and I have ABSURDLY dry calves. They will just itch and itch and itch and itch. The brushing seems to help temporarily, but I've only been doing it for 5-6 days. My skin is adapting to the brushing more, it's definitely invigorating--I'm hoping it clears my situation, as well, but I'll have to wait and see. I'll let you know! =)

I picked up a massive encyclopedia on "handology" just for laughs: kind of like palm reading, used mostly for psychology, and tested on a LARGE SCALE with 87% accuracy. O.O I had to make a rule that when I did readings for people, I would no longer read the health line, because I have blurted out a few things that really embarrassed a few people in public settings. The whole basi

When you get really into weird and tropical raw food, it starts getting harder and harder to find nutritional information period. Fitday gives me a great idea of what I'm eating, but god only knows the real wealth packed in a raw mangosteen? What's really in my sprouts? How mineral-rich the soil that grew my food is?

I've had two vaccinations (for reasons I don't want to discuss publicly) with mercury derivatives linked to tinnitus and other ear troubles. I didn't know of these side effects until now. I also didn't think to ask if there would have been any of that garbage in the vaccine to begin with. -.- Now I get to pay that price. Within the months since the last vaccine, I have been having not terrifyi

I've always wondered about that. Water while eating dilutes gastric juices and is less than optimal, and the ice would melt inside your body... so I don't know? Enough juicy fruit, anyway, and you won't need it. Feel free to chill things before blending... Mmm... Now I want a smoothie!

Hearing some nonsense like an "end of my life" diagnosis would motivate me to improve my health even MORE, to the point of taking a crash course in martial arts and knocking some sense back into those doctors while rubbing that diagnosis in their faces! Actually, I'd probably be unnerved... but motivated to do all I could for myself, nonetheless. My mom died from cancer some years ag

Sorry for the double post, but I did some more reading and I was thinking: If, for, a period of time, I were just to eat: -fresh pineapple (breakfast, probably) -boatloads of salads of every green imaginable -whole cloves of garlic -pumpkin seeds In conjunction with black walnut hull, wormwood, and clove tincture... Do you think that would be effective? If anything, the greens would g

Man. I am reading all about parasites and it's REALLY freaking me out... This is bad news. >.< Could anyone kindly share some information about the cleanses they've done? Thanks. Also, dumb question, but that 3% hydrogen peroxide everyone talks about--can I get it at a grocery store or drug store? Thanks. X.X

HAHAHA... I do have some of the same aversions! I did the salt water flush before, because it could be done by mouth, and not with someone else... well... there. But if the curiosity is burning, maybe you should try it once? It's like that Robert Frost poem, about the two roads that lead to the same place... some are just traveled more than others.

I did the Master Cleanse for ten days a while back and had some space alien eliminations. Since I've been raw, I haven't done ANYTHING to my bowels (I think my body is happier that way!) besides eat lots of fiber, and around 6 weeks into being raw, I started getting identical eliminations to what I was having on the MC. Now, however, the changes to my diet and lifestyle are permanent, so an

It's a cost/benefit analysis. Apples are some of the worst fruits to eat conventionally--organic apples are usually reasonably priced, and you can easily tell if they are bad. Organic mangoes: once I stocked up on some $2/piece little buggers, and the entire bag was rotten. That's my last time with organic mangoes, barring someone donating me about ten million dollars. Raw has totally trans

I got a little spaceheater for my bedroom, and will put a blanket at the door to keep the heat in when I get the freezies. There are some nights I have to take a sleeping bag to the couch with me when people are over and we're all chillin'. THEN, other days, my energy is so high, I run around the apartment in a tank top in February at full speed. For me, it seems like I'm coldest when I'm

I read it takes one month of raw to heal one year of eating SAD. So, it takes some time--but, hey, at least you're getting through it! Again, checking fitday.com is a great idea, just to make sure your diet is well-rounded. =)

Everyone here has made some great suggestions. Read a lot, read everything you can, and take it with a grain of sea salt. ^.^ I use fitday sporadically just to check up on myself. I find the best weapon to be a variety of fresh produce: if you're eating plenty of different things all the time, it's very hard to run into any deficiencies. Try to avoid excessive amounts of fat (like in a lot of

I loved wearing makeup... until I detoxed and found out how much was in my sinuses. =( It's been a year and a half since I've stopped, and every now and then, some still comes out to say hello. Would mineral makeup do the same thing? I'm performing at an art show tomorrow, and I'd love to do my face to match my outfit, but once I found out how synthetic (albeit cruelty-free) makeup hung around

My "Amber Waves of Grain" were ready to eat for lunch today. For a sauce, I blended: 2 bosc pears 1 banana 1 young coconut - meat and water pinch of cinnamon I just drizzled this over a bowl of the sprouts, and YUM! It was nice and light and refreshing, reminded me of cereal. So, you can affirmatively try something like this and it will be delicious. I just wanted to shar
