Me either! Funny how the universe works! I'm still feeling really good. I'm hungry, but I don't really care and it's easy to ignore this (they're not really "pains" but quiet signals) or tell myself that I'm resting my digestive system, which is thanking me by not hurting (like when I eat cooked). I have been really thirsty, though, so I've been drinking lots of water, which I figure is

Hey girls-- My computer is running soooo slow today -- I'm not sure what's up. And the little one is sick :{ But I'm doing great! I worked last night, did a banquet that had lots of yummy veggie things on it that I would have allowed myself to indulge in, had I not gone to camp here, but instead, I ate my avo sprout salad with crudite from the dinner, and today I'm fasting with some of the other

Hi Debbie and everyone-- I feel really good right now. I ate all raw yesterday, even though I worked a banquet last night that had delicious veg food and was allowed to eat it. Just eating my avo and sprouts while smelling and seeing all this food was big for me. I also ate light. I hadn't fasted for fifteen years before today -- another reason this is big. I'm hoping this fast is the catalyst f

Hey girls-- I just posted on the other thread; the one thing I didn't do that I really wanted to was what you did -- meditate! And organizing camp itinerary. "Camp itinerary" -- I like that! My mind is also just like a herd of wild horses! So I'm looking forward to doing that this weekend, which I actually have off (unheard of in the restaurant biz!!!) So happy camping to us!!! Sunda

Ahhh, discipline! It's a tough one. I'm checking in for Camp Self Care Overhaul: Had detox tea while online earlier, then the little one woke up. We stopped at the co-op on the way to preschool for breakfast. She had a half of a tomato, then an organic croissant, which I'm proud to say I didn't touch. I had a banana at 10:00, and the other half of the tomato at 11ish. Went to $1 yoga sponsored b

I agree with you LaV, but my two cats picked me (one literally followed me around my friend's apartment for 6 weeks until I took him home, and the other's people had to move and said I was the only one they trusted their kids' kitten with -- what do you say to that?), and my partner's dogs are always rescued from shelters. Our animal friends sleep with us and are a joy to our lives. We love them

Hey Soraya & Elakti -- I'm excited! Camp Self-Care Overhaul! I love it! Today the little one goes to school and I have not much on my agenda, so I'm going to start by being 100% raw, going to the Y, revamping my schedules, goals and lists ('m a big sched/list person), meditating, doing some yoga and taking a long walk. Tomorrow I'm fasting with some of the other posters here and I'll take it

Phantom-- I just printed your post and put it on my fridge right at eye level. I'm really inspired by it and hope it'll help me make that jump to 100%, because I'm feeling like now's the time for me.

I make mine with sprouted chickpeas, ground raw sesame seeds, lemon juice, water, garlic, olive oil, s&p, and whatever herbs I'm feeling at the time. Sometimes it's a little spicy with cumin and cayenne (or my honey's pepper blend), sometimes I put in basil or arugula for a pesto spin. I never measure anything, so I don;t know the proportions, but 4:1 for the chickpeas to sesame.

Me too. I've always been like that and remember my mom scolding me for being overly sensitive. I remember crying as a small child over the pollution of our world and the war and things that most kids didn't even think about. I cried when I read Kwan's signature at the end of her posts. I cry when I read the newspaper. I cry when I think about how much my partner loves me and how amazingly beautif

Hi Soraya! Hope you don't mind me chiming in here. I've been going through this too -- I have great ideas for positive change for myself in all areas of my life too (exercise, creativity, spirituality, etc.), but I seem to have a BIG problem following through for any length of time. So I'd like to take this opportunity to jump in here with you and make (yet another) commitment to a self-care ove

Drawing with pastels! I just put my first show up last week and someone already wants to buy a drawing. If I can find my digital camera, I'll go shoot my work (I wanted to do that anyway) and put it up online.

Hey Leafeater -- I still think you're doing well on this "journey towards 100% raw", and if you use how you feel after eating tortellini as a lesson in how you want (or don't) to feel, then I think you'll be even more successful in the long run. I go through that still, but now it's to a lesser degree, because I've gotten better at 1)stopping myself from eating whatever, and 2) choosing

I've been putting it into avo miso soup with various veggies, a few mung, adzuki, & lentil sprouts, and a little pepper blend and find that this combo of flavors is actually pretty good. Of course it's 95 degrees out and I've never had this soup cold -- I usually make it with warm water and spicy so it warms me. Needless to say, I haven't had spirulina in a few weeks!

OMG I am cracking up -- I just read this, and I'm sorry, but I'm behind on the news. Guess what I had for lunch folks? a big bowl of tomatoes and avos! And I'm with Raw Angel -- I'm gonna hurt someone too if avos are next! I guess this isn't really funny, but with my warped sense of humor, I couldn't resist. I agree with knowing where your food comes from and love that there is a local farm that

Wow -- that's scary! I have a daughter who got cancer at 17, guess where -- under her right ear! I did a ton of research on it and couldn't find any that says they are the cause, but I have my suspicions. She's fine for now, but I still wonder... I also have a cell phone, but everyone I know knows not to call me on it because it is usually off.

Good morning Elakti!! Hope you are feeling better. I've noticed that when I detox my emotions give me a ride too (more than usual!). So where in the San Diego area do you live, if you don't mind my asking? My son lives in San Marcos and surfs in Carlsbad or La Jolla usually. so if you are ever out there and see a long haired, big (but not fat), gorgeous guy out there, wave (or send him a good vi

Wow Elakti -- what Soroya said! I didn't know you were making such a drastic change so quickly either! I've been aware of the raw foods way for twenty-five years, but my diet has been all over the map in that time. I did raw in 1983 and 1984, but got pregnant in both years and started craving SAD, and with no support, fell out of it. I've always been concious of the effects of food on our bodies,

I've battled asthma my whole life. When I was growing up my parents smoked in the house (this was in the ignorant 60's) and couldn't figure out why I was always on the verge of death. I "outgrew" it as a teenager, but in my 30's was again diagnosed after starting smoking myself and wearing out my body with an insane schedule (10 shifts a week, school and three teenagers). I quit smoking

Johnny's (in Maine) johnnyseeds.com, Baker Creek (MO) rareseeds.com, High Mowing (VT) highmowingseeds.com -- these are catalogs that are sitting on my desk. Johnny's is pretty fast; I'm not sure about the other ones -- my partner does all the ordering.
