Trive, sending love to NZ, what a horrible tragedy! Aust will help you guys out for sure. As for marriage, I couldn't imagine taking someone else's name! My name is my own, given to me from birth and something I've grown up with. It rolls off my tongue like a part of me, it's an intrinsic part of my person. But no partner of mine would ever imagine I would entertain the idea anyways, it's

I can't watch more than a minute or so of Matt's videos. Everyone second one is about 'opening the third eye'!

Here's a vid of it as an example. though the waterpipe spirals I've seen are tighter and larger. The longer the length of hose, the more hot water, and black is the best colour as it collects heat most effectively.

That's a great idea! Another really simple ideas for sunny areas is to coil a black hosepipe on the roof, it will collect the heat during the day and becoming scalding hot, you can gravity feed it to an outdoor shower or into the bath, or to taps. In sunny warm weather it only takes about an hour or so to get hot, and is even warm in the winter sun!

Day 28 of a 30 day juice fast and I'm going strong! Actually, I'm thinking of extending it out to possibly 60 days but we'll see how it goes. Although I'm not getting cravings, I am getting hankerings (very different) for things like a simple lettuce leaf with slice vegies and avocado rolled up, and my favourite salad of cos (romaine) lettuce, chopped tomato, a pinch of salt and a dash of cold

I haven't been listening to the debates, but seriously? They are talking about AGEs as a problem for raw foodists? I used to work in a medical research institute next to a large laboratory whose specialty was AGEs and was fascinated enough by them to spend a lot of time talking to the researchers and learning up on them. These should really not be a problem at all for anyone who is not eating

Prana, it seems that there is more going on with oil pulling than just surface cleaning of the enamel. I too have tried oil pulling and noticed a change in teeth health (teeth seemed whiter and more 'solid'). I haven't done it for ages (got out of the habit), but I intend to get back into it once my fast is complete.

Should be ok if it doesn't taste too bad. I go on taste (it's been a great indicator of safety for millions of years). If it don't taste too bad, I drink it, if it does, I don't. I have a stomach of iron and a theory that our immune systems should be regularly challenged with these sorts of things in order to remain at our healthiest. Seems to have worked well for me so far.

Being disowned is sadly a fairly common occurrence for gay/trans-gendered/otherwise very different children. There's often a period of upheaval for the family, where less accepting parents will turn their backs on their kids for the 'lifestyle' they have chosen. But often after a while the family comes to terms with it and contact is restablished, not in all cases though. My brother is gay, an

Yep, it will no longer ripen. But as for lost nutrition, probably not that much. Many living things naturally undergo a freezing process during the winter and still survive and are nutritionally find. Many nuts and seeds, and some plants can undergo the freezing process with no harm at all.

I just watched the future of food today without seeing this thread, how coincidental! Very good, scary though.

Good point Jodie, and continuing the admission of poor employer choices, I used to work for a pharmaceutical company, and a research institute that tested on animals (didn't do it myself but...). Although I object the milk (raw or not) on an ethical basis, I find it hard to fathom why the FDA would go to such great lengths to do this.

Have you tried googling her? She mentions 'it's all there in the bible' so I'm assuming she's on the Essene or Hallelujah diet, which are both quite high in raw foods. Good on her!

My 9 yo son saw the heading to this thread and said 'WHAT? Go in and prove that guy wrong!' lol. Which pretty much says it all... even a 9 yo knows that fruit and veg statement is shite.

I so agree about the over scheduling these days, my son doesn't have a single scheduled out of school activity and his dad is getting really antsy about it. Apparently we need to have at the very least one thing, something about discipline and regulation or something. My son does a lot of things, play computer games (great ones actually, his favourite is Minecraft, which is all about construct

Day 4 of my 30 day juice fast. It's certainly different to a master cleanse, I am feeling full and haven't thought about food all day! On the master cleanse I don't feel full and as a consequence, I think of food a lot (not that I'm ever usually not thinking of food, I always am!). Today has only been orange juice, I'm not really bothered with making anything else, though the juicer is out

I'm currently doing a 30 day fast on nothing but liquids, though I'm not including smoothies or soups (just juices, sweet and savoury). I feel like I could do this forever if variation weren't a problem, but for me I'd need the variety of textures as well as flavours. Also, there's been some limited evidence that the exercise of chewing is intrinsic to teeth health, something which feels very

Banana who, then you might want to try the raw powders. I like the taste of the sun warrior one, it does add an extra 'oomph' to smoothies, though I don't usually want/need it, my 9 yo (non raw but veg) son seems to love it. There's actually a lot you can do with the protein besides just smoothies and shakes. You can also add it to solid desserts, or mousse, there's even a raw fudge slice comm

I have the Sun Warrior powder, I got it to try it out. I don't use it much, but I might once I kick up the exercise and get off this fast. You don't NEED protein powder, raw or not, for me it's just another addition to the variety of foods I eat. I employ the 80/20 rule, as long as 80% of my diet is fresh living foods, I can eat raw foods that are bottled/packaged for 20% or less of my diet a

I cure my own olives, might try this process as well next time I can get olives. Coco, I can get fresh black olives where I live by the boxload. We have a lot of italians and greeks in this area and they love to cure their own olives. plus we have lots of houses that actually grow their own olives.

I totally understand. It felt like my life was on hold with a young child! It does get better. My son is now 9 yrs old and currently off seeing his grandma in the country. I don't worry about him like I used to when he was younger, he's very independent and has lots of fun when he's away. I've been thinking of doing some schooling actually, now that I can. I had to give up my writing course to

In Blue Zones around the world, one of the common factors is that people get regular exercise, however this is NOT exercise that is for exercise's sake. People who live to a very old age in these blue zones exercise as part of their every day lives, e.g. gardening, walking or riding a bike to get somewhere, working on the farm, and doing other physical activities that are a natural part of their
