I loved reading this thread! I'm so happy you have found your own path on raw and are having such great results! I totally agree with you about forgetting the old cooked cravings crap after a year or so of 100%, I'm so glad someone else has said that as sometimes I feel a little alone in my 'I don't have cravings' condition. I really believe it's the 100%, it cleans you out and makes you a ne

Oh no, Bad Santa is back! Go AWAY! Your Job scaring kiddies and adults alike is done for the year! My Christmas hasn't arrived yet, I have the official family get together on the 2nd of Jan this year due to event clashes. Currently enjoying a honky holiday in a trailer park. YEAH!

Meh, bad food is punishment in itself, lol! But the great thing is that good food allows your body to forgive you. And occasional 'bad' foods aren't going to kill you if you eat them! Though for me these days I've found I can't even eat excessive (or sometimes even moderate) amounts of nuts or dried foods or else I'm generating enough methane to power a small eco-friendly house.

I ate raw vegan (I'm 100%) but heavier than I usually do, still am actually. I made dehydrated cheesy snacks, crackers, garlic bread, seafood bites, lots of dips (but mainly loads of simple tomato, onion, parsley salsa) and added these to what I usually eat (fruits, salads, smoothies, veggies etc.) This was my third year at 100% and other people's cooked foods really don't send me any signals

YES! coconuts! Now why didn't I think of that? You have them available in india don't you? I prefer for milk the meat of mature (brown, hard shelled coconuts) blended with water. The young coconuts are good too. In order to make any kind of milk more 'milk like' simply blend in a little sweetener (I use dates) and a pinch of salt. These two things help to mimic to taste of dairy and other plan

If almonds are too expensive for you, I'd try sunflower seeds. Soak them first for around 4 hours or more (I just put them in a bowl of water before bed to soak overnight). I usually use macadamias or really raw cashews. If you do the math, it actually works out to be surprisingly cheap (depending on how creamy you want the milk to be). If you use non organic almonds, I've calculated it to be

Me too, Storm and Jinjee were the first raw fooders I had come across that I really connected with. I too like their approach, not just the food but the attitude. Also, I think Jinjee is beautiful, inside and outside. <3

Ok, didn't see that one coming, but totally with ya! One day I'm going to go WOOFing up at the tropical fruit farm in Cape Tribulation in far nth queensland in Australia. It wont be free as I'll be donating time and effort, but kind of the same really as I don't mind working for my supper. Free gym work really.

I haven't watched the video, but to me there's nothing sadder than the thought of drinking the first milk of a cow, chock full things naturally meant for a newborn baby. Even sadder than milk.

I must be pretty lucky where I live, I get the fresh fruit, also fresh rambutans (which I don't like). Oh, and merry, I've had salak too (also known as snake fruit because of its scaly outer skin). It's very astringent but lovely, unfortunately it apparently doesn't travel well so it's not something I can get here. I really love all the rare tropical fruits, it's a hobby of mine to taste as

Why don't you get your DHA and EPA straight from the same source that the fish do, algae? You might not realise, but the fish do not make their own. That way you can skip the intermediary, avoid all the biomagnification of harmful pollutants such as heavy metals, dioxins, pcbs, etc (seriously, there's a reason why vulnerable people like pregnant women are told to avoid fish) and also avoid kil

Haha! We're all half arsed or half asleep (or both) at some stage or other I've had this convo on several forums before and it's a really interesting one. I feel that we do need to face up and talk openly about these things in order for progress to be real and healthy.

I believe orthorexia, while not a recognised condition, is a real phenomena. But we need to take pains to separate it out from the average person who adopts a raw foods diet. Eating disorders are conditions where the act of eating, the rituals surrounding eating and the food itself become something that an individual becomes so obsessed by that it detrimentally affects their physical and/or

I love this book. I read it while on the train and had to stop from laughing out loud! The humour is not for everyone, and I think it was better received outside the US as the humour is more UK/Aust. It's laughing at ITSELF! But it was preaching to the converted for me. The great thing is that I have come across MANY people influenced to go vegan because of this one book. People who were no

Yes, but only because I'm lazy and I love fruit and greens. The sad part is that I'm very good at creating raw gourmet dishes, and love to for the challenge, but i mainly love doing it for others. The average person would be horrified at the monotony of my food, but I love it. there are honestly so many variations to a simple salad, and always lots of different fruits for me to eat!

mmm.. dates. My lollies! I get organic medjool dates by the 5kg box, they last me about a month. I'd love to try some other less common varieties and have found a place in my country to get them, just have to wait till I'm a little more cashed up.

I just sub honey in recipes for other sweeteners. Honey is not vegan. I kinda get tired of stating that but mostly just shut up because I don't want to sound militant, which is probably why so many think it is because we don't say anything. Look up the definition of the word 'vegan' as coined by Donald Watson. Donald himself categorically stated that honey is not vegan. The person who coine

I'm not 811 but I make a dressing that fits with it. I scoop the pulp from several tomatoes and mix it with lemon or lime juice (you can also use orange juice) and chop herbs such as basil or parsley into it. If I leave it for half an hour the herb flavours tend to come out a little more and add and extra zing.

I mostly wash my produce, but don't get too uopset about it if I don't. The thing is, although washing makes us feel a lot better, I'd put myself out on a limb and say it doesn't do that much. Sure, visible dirt is washed away (mostly), and you'll wash away some of the bugs and even some of the parasite eggs if they are present. But anything that is not water soluble (i.e any oil based h

Indeed we should. If only people really knew how effective and safe natural skin care products were, they'd see how crazy it is to use all that synthetic, overpriced and outbreak making goop!

Sorry, they aren't, most have at least been steamed to roll them flat. I think there are raw oat flakes out there, but I've never bought them so couldn't tell you where to get them. Someone else might be able to help you with that. .

Haha! how do you make it?? The papaya (paw paw) fruit makes it for you! You simply smear the inside of the papaya skin over your face (I also smeared some of the mooshed up papaya flesh on too) and leave the goop to dry on your face. Then when it's dry, you smear another layer on over it (don't wash the first layer off) and let that dry too. The stuff goes a bit tight on your face, but it's
