Here is the article that I mentioned earlier: For me, the contemplation of the cosmos is also the contemplation of inner space. Despite the incomprehensible vastness of our gorgeous universe, I believe that all parts are intimately connected in a beautifully interwoven tapestry. To contemplate its nature is to contemplate my own nature and the nature of existence. I realize that human unde

global result - Why not? Out of the hundreds billion stars out there (many very similar to our own sun) isn't it unreasonable to believe our own planet is the only one capable of supporting life? We have also found hundreds of star systems close to our own! Even on Earth life can be found in the most unexpected environments. To me it seems only rational to believe there are aliens out there.

I see it like this: A single seed is similar to a single sperm and the earth is similar to an egg. The bodies of male animals create an incredible quaniity of sperm for only one (or a few) to make it into make it to the destination - the egg. I think nature makes seeds so plentifully in the hopes that only just a few make it to a proper place to sprout (or the metaphoric egg). Animals also he

This is kind of a weird post but I have been thinking about this after reading an article. People have discovered around 350 huge Jupiter and Saturn-like planets relatively close to our own solar system. They are large enough to visibly observe with telescopes. There are very likely smaller planets orbiting them that are too small for us to currently see. This can be deduced from slight moveme

Love the word. I just threw 1/2 a cantaloupe with a bunch of strawberries in my blender (no water) and it is completely joylicious!

Coco - Part of me feels the same way, although I recognize a double standard. My mother-in-law gave me some sandals she would have thrown away. They are very comfortable and have been useful for me (they are now falling apart). On the one hand I was recycling by using them and that is good for the environment. On the other hand, if they were made from dog, cat or baby seal(for example), I woul

You sound like you are in a good situation. You have a bright, mature, level-headed son and it is great that you have a good relationship with him. He is getting older and you can't really guard him from every bad influence. You can only teach him to be smart about the choices he makes. If I were you I would try to see what the situation is with his friend. Just because he swears on his myspac

if the articles of clothing or foodwear would have been thrown out otherwise and you could get use out of them? I am not sure. I am curious where people stand on this.

lightforms - Beautiful answer! la_veronique - I meant attachment in an ego-centric way. You have to be able to let the person go and just be supportive and want the best for the other person. I once tried to remain friends with an ex-boyfriend, but he would got incredibly jealous when I dated someone new, even though we mutually agreed that our relationship would not work (and he was dating

If the people involved don't have feelings of resentment and/or attachment, I think it is definately possible.

Congratulations Terry! I think it is great to give up alcohol because even moderate levels are very taxing on the body. In my experience there has been a correlation between the amount of raw food I ate and the amount of alcohol I drank. I have been progressively eating a higher percentage of raw food for the past 3-4 years now. I consequently drank alcohol less and less. Now I am completely

I think you should continue feeding your children and eating the way that you see fit. Stand firmly, lovingly and confidently in your beliefs. Let your in-laws say what they think, just try not to take it personally. I think it would be helpful to cultivate a sense of detachment in this area. You have to remember, in many ways you are walking on uncharted territory and your are bound to come a

108. Advice...
I wouldn't be dealing with something like this for at least a few years, but I still have been thinking about something. I have always wanted to adopt children and take in foster children (including older ones). I know there is a very good chance they will S.A.D. eaters. How do I find a compromise between the two? I hate the thought of having to prepare meat and dairy for them, but also don't

The young coconuts are the tastiest and most nutritious. They are usually white. Was the coconut water purple? That usually means it went bad.

It is a documentary, narrated by Joaquin Phoenix, which shows what is behind the veil of all the industries that exploit animals. Type in "Earthlings" on You Tube and you can watch the entire thing. I can only watch a little at a time because it is too much to absorb. I find myself crying a lot. Maybe they are good tears, because at least I really understand what the poor animals ha

I got Lyme Disease last summer and also got Bell's Palsy. I also had the symptoms of meningitis, amongst other things. I went to the doctor and was put on antibiotics (doxycycline) for a month. I didn't have health insurance and just paid out of pocket. I suggest he just go to a health clinic and try and see if he can get free care. Do some research into how you can get help with payment. Woman should be able to go topless in public, like men can. I think breasts would then be LESS objectified because the sight of them would be commonplace. Their beauty would be appreciated like anything else that is beautiful, but not be overly sexualized. That would be liberating.

It took a little while getting the hang of it, but I am glad that I did. You can tell if it in correctly when it is comfortable and working. I suggest wearing a pad with it, until you get a feel for it. The rotation thing wasn't working for me. I fold it in half, push it far, after it opens I push it from the bottom a little more. I then pull it slightly. When I pull it, I can feel the re

I watched the sunset yesterday and today just watched the sunrise on the beach. It did not hurt my eyes. This morning I stared it coming up from the horizon it was intense. I felt like I was going to cry and all my cells seemed to vibrate. When it rose it was hard to look at it directly, only in short glances, while bringing my eyes back and forth. Then I looked above it, but could see it in
