I just did a mono day of apples. But I ate several varieties (red delicious, gala, fuji, granny smith, pippin) throughout the day. My question is, should I to stick to the same TYPE of apple if I were to do this again? Interestingly, I wasn't as hungry as I normally get when I mix foods. it seems to me that a lot of people do mono with bananas--are they especially good for mono eati

121 to 160 seems like a huge range. my BMI says I should be no less than 105. when I am 105, I have some (eek!)cellulite, and (gasp)fat around my bra. I am most comfortable at 95-100 lbs, on 5'1" my mother has been 5'2" and 98lbs her whole life. I think that a real BMI test from a trainer or doctor would be more accurate than simply a chart. Those charts don't even account for g

yeah, I definitely drink less water--especially with higher fruit proportions. I think it's important to get enough water, even if you aren't thirsty. I tend to eat thinking I'm hungry, when really I'm just thirsty. I've read that you should drink water around the time that you're eating--it dilutes the enzymes. But trying to drink only when there's nothing in my stomach is impossible--I

my hair is falling out too, very suddenly. I am making sure not to restrict until it stops. I had been eating a balanced variety of veg-s and fruits, but when I started leaning toward mostly fruit, that's when it started coming out. the suggestions on this board are interesting--I think I'll try the CLA. I already take a multi and have been gorging on carrots (not unpleasant, since carrots ar

I haven't met ANY other raw fooders since I've been raw. People here in LA know what it is when I say it--such a great thing compared to when I tell people on the east coast simply that I am vegetarian and they have to ask all kinds of questions. I have noticed that I'm having some trouble getting closer to the boyfriend. I'd known him for years, and used to date him, always wishing to be wi

island girl, thanks for the recipe. I'll make it when I have my blender back on the east coast. LA has been a trip---good and bad. I already feel better, two days away from cooked food. I'm a little tired from the cleanse, but I've done this before, and I know I'll get a rush of energy. As far as the drive, some friends are worried about me being on a cleanse while I do it. I appreciate and

I also was giving off a scent that I didn't recognize as myself. It reminded me instantly of the way an ex who was a carnivore smelled when I woke with him in the morning. I wasn't that awful, but certainly on the offensive side. and to refer to the "sweating" thread--I was sweating thick stickiness. where, on raw I barely sweat, or don't notice that I do.

I've been off raw for about two weeks. I don't know what happened. pressure from a boyfriend, (deserved after I drooled over his french toast one morning), and just sliding down the road one meal after another. I am anxious. REALLY anxious--all the time. I haven't felt like this the entire time I was raw. Going off it has shown me how much more I enjoy life when I'm raw. I've had aggress

island girl. at first I lost. I started with a juice fast, and the few weeks after that--I ended up losing about 10 pounds (down to 95ish at 5'0". Then, as I got more creative and had more access to unheard of fruits (moved from Massachusetts to Los Angeles), I gained back about 5+. first I worried, but continued to eat the same volume. Now I'm still about 100, but I've been 100 before

these friends have been staying at my house for a few days now. It's getting simpler--and in fact, while they sluggishly prepare their meals in my kitchen, I'm satisfying myself with the insane spread of melons and fruits and greens laid out on my table. They joke that--"oh shaine doesn't believe in fire anymore"--but at least it's become a teasing-matter, rather than an interrogation

if this is happening, can there be any hope of acceptance at the family table? last night, having dinner in a vegan+lots of raw options restaurant with some friends, the question arose: "where do you get your protein?" A. I was eating a living wrap, with cashew and pumpkin seed cheeze. B. I told them that vegetables have plenty of protein. they didn't believe me. "bu

at some bulk bins, you'll notice that there are two kinds of wheat berries--"hard winter"/"soft spring". I don't know that this is what they mean, but it's my best guess.

I had a boyfriend who went veggie when we moved in together. He was starving all the time. I fed him tons of pie and great prepared meals with plenty of tofu and seitan and everything was delicious to him and he didn't miss meat. But he was just so hungry. He ate about a pound of raisins every few days, and bunches of bananas. He lost about 10 pounds (he's a thin fit guy to begin with, and h

I haven't gotten my period for 48 days. I eat plenty, I'm not losing weight (in fact, I'm slowly gaining a pound+ a week). I take a multivitamin. I keep a good balance of greens and fruits, with nuts/avo 3 or 4 times a week. I keep my calories up around 1500-2000 a day. I feel great, but no menses. I'm not too scared. this happened when I first went veg'n when I was 18. But at 24, I feel

1. I eat about 1500-2000 calories a day 2. I'm maintaining, sometimes gaining--on a 5'0" petite frame mostly I stay around 100. 3. I'm a 2 on the exercise scale, but normally more like 3 (if I were at my normal hour plus of cardio, and fourXweek lifting, I'd definitely be eating more, and weighing more like 95--my ideal) 4. High raw. deviances: tea, stevia, shoyu--and the occasiona

I posted over the weekend that I would join you. But when I woke up monday morning, I wanted to go for a run in the early marine layer here in LA. So I ate a grapefruit and went. I am doing what seems natural for me--though I felt guilty to the point that I couldn't think of how to still support you without example. But dissapearing from the thread would do nothing. point being: here

suncloud and khale, thanks for the advice. yes, I am a small frame (little ankles and wrists). I suppose I know what i have to do--that is, eat less more often. I find myself so hungry, and I always satisfy the hunger when it hits. But I should maybe learn that it's okay to be a little hungry sometimes--just not famished a lot of the time. for miss joan, when my weight goes up and down by

my little brother, who is 21, smokes. he has been since he was 17. no one else in my family smokes. I love him, and I worry that when me and my two younger brothers grow up, he'll be that uncle with the beer gut and smoker's cough etc. He used to be a track/xcountry star, and a swim teamer. I went for a run recently with him, and he had to stop every couple hundred yards to fight back vomit.

I am gaining weight. two weeks ago, I was 97 (at 5'0" last week I was 100 today I am 104. this more than daily fluctuation. I only eat fat every few days. I tend to eat lots of fruit in the AM and vegetables in the evening. This is incredibly frustrating. I believe in this diet for my health, but the change in my body is not welcome. I cheat sometimes, but I'm staying ultra high

I've been feeling down the last couple weeks too. I moved to LA, and haven't been able to keep a normal routine yet. Finally I've been able to go for a morning run again. Also--I found that I had really dropped the ball on my water intake. Usually I carry around a liter bottle with a sport-top, and be sure to fill it three times a day. As soon as I started that again, I felt wildly better.
