I have the opposite problem. Not enough ripe. Even though they've been hanging on the fence in the sun for 2 days. Unless monkeys are stealing the ripe ones when I'm not home. My diet tends to go to crap when I don't have my morning smoothie which usually consists of a pound of bananas and some other stuff. The produce people in the stores are all telling me the same thing - they keep coming

The intent of my last thread wasn't to talk about "cooked foods". I apologize if it came across as misleading. I was wondering if anyone had any raw suggestions on overcoming it? Or if anyone else has had this problem and could offer advice? I keep craving spicy-ness and don't want to crave it anymore nor do I want to use it as an excuse to eat cooked foods.

I have been eating mostly fruit and I don't have any desire for other "sugars". No sugar cravings, no junk even if smelling or looking at it. But lately I am craving spicy things. It's like my mouth waters for it when the craving hits. I ignored it yesterday and it didn't go away. So my new cooked thing is canned vegetable soup..with my own spices/herbs added. Oregno, black pepper,

LOL. It works. Better than the SADer term. crap-a-rexics stupid-a-rexics The silly new word "Orthorexics" is kind of ironic. Are they insulting us or not? If "Ortho" was a greek word for "correct" then they're basically just agreeing that we're right and they're wrong. I guess the technical opposite disorder would be called dys-o-rexic since "dys&quo

Been there..still there. Just not with hot dogs. Pizza is usually the food for me where the smell is so powerful I want a slice..and then some. Knowing how disgusting and unhealthy something is just isn't enough. It is scary. I've had days where I felt amazing, clean, light on raw.. then just *had* to have something cooked and I enjoy it. I think it's like a drug. Having that cooked thing once

"“Orthorexics commonly have rigid rules around eating. Refusing to touch sugar, salt, caffeine, alcohol, wheat, gluten, yeast, soya, corn and dairy foods is just the start of their diet restrictions. Any foods that have come into contact with pesticides, herbicides or contain artificial additives are also out.”"

It all depends on who you ask IMO. I'm the type that rather read posts and experiences from real people rather than someone else's research project. I'm sure we can all find studies online about how vegan and raw food is bad for you. They even came out with a new eating disorder to label us with.

This one sells them per banana/apple. the other stuff is already pre-packed for a set price. Like Celery.. it's even in a bag and it's 1.99 for almost a pound. Instead of per pound it's "per bunch" or "package". There's only one TJ's here

I'm trying to shop at Trader Joe's just because it's so much cheaper than Whole Foods. But I'm finding the more raw I go, the less I want their products. The only thing that I find they are good for is banannas @ .19 each and apples @ .69 each. I am almost always disappointed in the fruits and vegtetables. In season or not. Grapes.. they were in a plastic container. They were like old, small

1. Smoothie what you want. Eat what you want. Use smoothies/juices if it helps you to get more variety. For instance.. I hate banannas but they're cheap and nutritious. So I blend them with other fruit into smoothies. 2. Personal preference really. But even high fruit people like Dough Graham recommend 1-2lbs. 3. Juiced or Blended - Drink right away. Unless you get into freezing. Cut up..

I'm not raw enough to comment. But I've heard of bodybrushing helping it even for cooked eaters. Something about making the fat separate so the body can get rid of it easier. Lymph congestion (Or like you said, trapped impurities) causes cellulite..so stimulating the lymph system helps.

It's the humidity that I find unbearable and need air conditioning. My job consists of being on a computer/phone all day....and it's basically impossible to type with sweat constantly dripping off of your fingers sliding around the keyboard.. Sucks! I also hate waking up soaked in sweat. I know some people like to take advantage of sweating and detox but to me there's a time and a place for it. I

Just a suggestion.. If you're going to do that regularly, why not just get one of those portable blender cups? Look into the "Magic Bullet" where you basically put your ingredients in your cup and then flip the cup over onto the blender when you're ready to drink. It's small enough to put in a bag and take with you. The cups come in different sizes. Or you can also find mixers th

I always want lemon juice (lemon water, add to herbal teas, etc) but usually don't feel like juicing them (get sick of cleaning it) whether by a juicer or by hand. Plus My skin is too sensitive and it tends to burn it. I'm thinking of freezing it into icecube trays... if I do it this way, then put it in a bag or maybe freeze in a mason jar or something.. isn't it just the outside that will o

Also, I tried pouring it through a strainer first..and kind of got the same feeling I do from drinking juice. But there was too much wet pulp in the strainer which doesn't make it worth it if I am throwing away a bunch of nutrients.

For some reason Celery and Spinach seems to still be the easist for me to handle. I could get the lettuce down but..yuck. Found somewhat of a solution. I went to Panera Bread.. they have these super fat straws. I've never seen them anywhere else. They made it easier to get down. I ordered a few ice waters just to get the straws. Didn't drink the chlorine ice though. LOL

I agree with Curator. I didn't watch but I don't think it's fair to blame this extreme example on the "raw meat" completely. I mean, that stupid family on WifeSwap at raw meat..raised their kids on it and they had energy to run a farm.. despite looking pale and unhealthy. Someone could call themselves raw/vegan and become unhealthy and then the diet is blamed. There's people all ove

Whole foods sells individual packets of green powders. The wheatgrass one actually gives me energy. Some say it's "sugar' but doesn't feel like sugar to me. I take it every now and then when a boost is needed.' 'That'll save you money and give you more usable nutrition! Disagree with blanket statements like that. Some people are so messed up they absorb more nutrition out of their j

Any advice for green juice that isn't masked by carrots then? I can go through a pound of spinach in the green star..but it takes 2lbs of carrots to make it taste worthy. I don't drink that much at once.. about 16oz and then the next gets put in a mason jar for later. I like cleaning the juicer right away in the summer. Trying to cut down on sugars..blood sugar issues and carrot juice does eff

just when I can get myself to start tolerating the taste... it's the texture that's hitting my gag reflex. It's fuzzy and pulpy and it reminds me of throwing up.. just going down instead of coming up. I'm using a Vitamix not a regular blender. For instance, I'm starting with celery adnd ah andful of spinach. I'm trying to avoid masking it with fruit as I prefer to eat y fruit. So far celery a

I can't tollerate green smoothies at all. They're either too thick and to add more water where it was tollerable then it turned out to be A LOT of liquid to drink. I found it to get foamy too which makes me gag. I prefer using a juicer. Just a thought to consider. Of course you don't get the fiber with a juicer though.
