In Arizona we have Fry's, Albertson's, Safeway, and Basha's that are large supermarket chains which provide some organic produce. Trader Joe's, Sunflower Market, and Whole Foods are not quite as large, but have as much or more organics. There is a wide variety of fruits available in September--apples, oranges, grapefruit, various melons, peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines, grapes, bananas, p

Check out WeatherWars.info. The author is a meteorologist who quit in order to let the public know about this. His site was hacked into and taken down for a few months because someone didn't like the information. I have seen the phenomena in Tucson for a few years now. It's eerie.

I've found this to be true with me as well. However, I suspect getting out in the sunshine elevates my mood even more than raw food. I know it hel

I blend mine at 5:20AM and consume it between 11:00AM and 12:30PM, depending on when I feel hungry and my work situation. I have a Stanley 2-Qt vacuum bottle that I put some water into and lay it sideways in the freezer overnight. By lunch, the smoothie is still quite cold. Today it was too cold, so I'm going to try the same ingredients tomorrow without the ice. Once, my lunch was provided at the

I've been giving my older dog yucca as an anti-inflamatory supplement for her stiff joints that has helped. She still limped from shoulder pain that she had for the first few minutes of walking after she had been lying down for a while. The vet recommended glucosamine and chondroitin and that eliminated the limp after a couple of weeks of giving it to her.

I recommend a soft-side insulated cooler. I just started using mine to keep the hand fruits I sometimes take for lunch from getting bruised in my backpack. I have one with a dry compartment in front that is a bet larger than many I see people use at work. It would be ideal for lettuce by itself, but the freezable packs would fit well with it and keep it cold even longer.

LikeItOrNot: I've never realized it before, but you are right! There were always fly worms (sounds better than the real word) in the dog droppings before I fed raw and there aren't now. Unfortunately, there are still too many flies around--likely from the horses half a block away.

I switched to sweeter fruits in my green smoothies about 2 months ago, but prior to that I always included a cucumber.

My dog helped me find it. I was researching canine raw food diet when I wasn't explicit enough in the search criteria. I selected Search for all the words, instead of Search for the exact phrase.

The fiber in avocado pits is soluble fiber which helps keep my cholesterol in check. I could use dark leafy greens, but I have the pit readily available when I use the avocado. So far the blade is holding up just fine. Regards,

I always have it with the avocado flesh and a tomato or two at a minimum. Usually, I add a key lime, bunch of green onion, a jalapeƱo, a couple of cloves of garlic, and a bunch of cilantro to make a runny guacamole in the blender which I eat with celery or organic yellow corn tortilla chips (not raw).

Yesterday, I hand 7 small bananas for breakfast. Like Bryan, I find them less appealing than they were last winter. I usually find them to be too sweet, but the organic ones seem just right. Regards,

OMG! I have thrown out bushels of this "weed" from my yard. Well, no more. I've recently been trying to find information on edible plants that grow wild here in the Sonoran desert and here I find out about one that is right outside my back door. Amazing!

I have a pair of vice-grips that have silicon pads at the stress points which are ideal for cracking open peach, apricot, and plum pits to get at the almond-like seed inside. Some are bitter, but most are not. I've not tried cherries, but want to. If anyone has, let us know how they are. I put avocado pits in my Waring Xtreme with some water and they blend nicely. They are very high in fi

A small amount of the nutrients will likely be washed away, but soaking and rinsing will definitely decrease the saltiness.

It's difficult to see the gray in my thinning hair because I keep it very short. My facial hair, being thicker, is more visible. The gray/white hairs there have been gradually getting darker over the previous year of my high-raw eating. I read that cucumber is good for reversing graying hair and eat at least 5 large ones per week.

I lived as a child in northern Wisconsin. I would describe the root cellars that I knew of in various farm houses as small rooms off to one side of regular cellars. Being off to the side, they were underground rather than being under the house itself. This kept the temperature in the room just above freezing in the winter and cool in the summer. I can remember eating slightly limp carrots in Janu

Prism: I suggest giving your dog raw chicken feet as treats. That would provide the benefits of raw canine food and yet should be easier for your dog to chew. They will be much easier on his digestion than hard leather.

LOL! I don't know if going high raw had anything to do with it or not, but there was an undeveloped lot kitty-corner from the bus stop that I used to relieve myself sometimes when I knew I couldn't wait for the half-mile walk home. The regular spot I used had an exposed root from a nearby Palo Verde tree which started growing a new tree after a few months of my contributions. Unfortunately

My lawn used to be loaded with brown spots from both types of dog elimination. After being 99% raw for a few weeks, the "burn" spots stopped. The spots are caused by excessive (for the grass anyway) nitrogen content in the urine or feces. I've read that the cause is too much protien in the dog's food, but I believe it is actually from the grain content of commercial dog food. I had been
