tea_mochi, tell us the costs of what you buy and eat now. You might find that it's not so expensive to eat raw. For example, lots of ppl eat beans and rice cooked. But you can just sprout the beans, (forget the rice) and eat them raw - yum. When you buy vegies, look primarily for ones that yield the most edible part per pound and of course cost per pound. Shop around. Expand your think

I think those fly strips work really well! Once one fly is stuck, the others think it's a good place to land and they'll follow suit - that's why there's a life-size picture of a fly on the package. (however, I haven't had much luck with fruit flies landing on them) I always thought they were among the least toxic things around - though definitely not appetizing!

What I meant was that, when I make juice, I carefully strain it before drinking it, so I don't consume any of the vegie fiber.(Most juicers do an imperfect job of straining out the pulp, so I always re-strain it.) I was told, or read, many years ago, that the pesticides were bound to the plant fibers and stayed there and would not be released into the juice. So if that's true, it wouldn't be b

I have a suggestion: if you're getting hiccups, you're dehydrated. If you're getting burps, you're dehydrated. If you're getting hunger-like sensations in your stomach area, you're probably dehydrated. We've had these problems and they've disappeared easily by drinking enough water throughout the day, in fact if I get hiccups, which is rare now, I don't have to think twice, I just drink wa

rainbowgirl - do you have low iron or some other health problems like adrenal fatigue, cuz I have and had the same cravings as you, (well, for red meat). I think I craved the candy cuz I was always tired and the meat cuz I had low iron and to 'cancel' out the sweetness of the candy. Touch wood - I have not had any meat cravings for weeks and am not craving sugar as much as before, though I

Try the sprouting and gardening section of this forum. There's lots of other interesting sections here, but most ppl post here for all topics, leaving the other ones a little neglected. Sprouts are cheap to do yourself, good luck!

I know someone who got a pup from a friend, and began feeding her only cheap, raw chicken bones. He's very cheap with his own food and doesn't value good nutrition, so it was strictly a budget choice, tho' he was also used to feeding dogs raw meat from his years working on sheep farms in Aus and NZ. He had the dog a few years, and kept her outside except on the coldest days of the year when he

Our dog became fonder of raw vegs the longer she was raw. At first she only wanted fruit and carrot - she would sneak into the compost bucket and eat scraps from it and the sweet cherries that fell from our trees onto the lawn. Now she demands a share of nearly every raw food I eat including green soup and juices and coconuts.

Start adding grated carrots and other finely chopt vegies to their food. Anything cheap, but not leafy. Increase with time. This is the vet clinic that our dog's vet is at now - she's actually a homeopath, but is truly an advocate for all natural pet care. She was so great with our dog, who was a sick puppy when we got her. Our dog went unmedicated and raw within 24 hours of our g

Each successive generation is larger and craftier than the last, so they increase in strength and numbers daily. I have a large compost bucket in my kitchen which takes a few days to fill. I try to lure them outside by putting the bucket out in the evening: I slowly pick it up and gently put it out the back door and leave the door open hoping they'll want to be where it is. But no, they are on t

I crave savoury things too and have started using bits of onion and garlic in my tomato salads. If I don't, I wind up eating cooked! and feeling rotten and guilty cuz I don't actually want the cooked, just want the craving to go away. I have to keep lots of easy to eat things handy (carrot, celery, broccoli, apples, bananas, dates, kale, parsley, etc )and just keep stuffing them in my mouth and

I wonder if ppl are always just one or the other, cuz I'm like Bryan in that I have to be really suffering before I'll change my diet. I'm not stubborn, just don't want to make effort. With other things I'm motivated by the reward I'll get after the effort and enjoy the delayed gratification cuz I know what's coming. I used to be a (fairly successful) athete and loved the rigors of training ever

I don't usually carry raw juices around, but maybe a smallish stainless steel thermos would work. I bought a few of them on sale somewhere several years ago - we use them alot for cold and hot drinks. I have only used mason jars for raw smoothies and juices, but don't do it often - wouldn't try to fit one in a little purse - my little purses stay home on their hooks, cuz I either cart everything

I have so many fruit flies in my kitchen and am swarmed every time I make a green smoothie. They're even filling up my fridge. I don't like to kill insects, but I swat at them when they try to fly up my nose or land in my food. Who knew they could be so aggressive!

Ha! I was having this conversation with my daughter two hours ago! She works for and among some petty manipulators (at The Gap) and lately expressed her disdain for their deceit and now they have reduced her hours to less than half. It's not her fault they are like that and they won't change; she has to. It's good for her to see what ppl can be like, and that she can walk away from it. Still,

If they really want Baby to calm down, suggest they get all the artificially-scented 'cleansers' out of their homes and to start using less toxic things (best online source of such info is www.care2.com) because they are a largely ignored source of nerve irritants for all family members, both human and non. Those horrible chemicals cling to fabrics, hair and skin and are extremely difficult to ge
