Seaweeds like kelp, wakame, and hijiki are very high sodium; celery and greens, like kale, dandelion, spinach and watercress are medium; and carrot, beet and coconut water are mild . . .

Actually, flax have higher phytoestogen levels then soy (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16898863?dopt=Abstract). BUT these plant estrogens are weaker then endogenous estrogens, competing at cell receptor sites and creating a net LOWERING affect. See and There is still of course some debate. The bottom line is, how do you FEEL? I feel great on soy, and it's one of the last cooked fo

I had gas initially on 100% raw even though I was eating entirely mono. I tried virtually EVERYTHING (including probiotics). Finally I read that too many potassium foods without enough sodium foods could cause gas. I added high sodium foods and the problem has been virtually non-existent since . . . Just another factor to consider . . .

How about greens? My experience would seem to indicate that if we are not getting enough sodium (to balance the high fruit / nut potassium), you will crave it in the cooked foods you remembered having it. A quick way to figure out if this is your case would be a kelp test. See if it cuts the craving . . .

I've wondered about this myself. I've noticed that the longer I am raw, the less hungry I get (even eating a balanced fruit/green/nut ratio) and that my stomach seems to start producing less and less hydrochloric acid (a possible symptom of alkalosis). Eventually, I don't feel like eating at all (in which case I start loosing weight). After two months of 100% raw, I accidentally coughed some f

I used to think that all alcohol has bad, and didn't have a sip of it until after the age of 25. I think alcohol is to a large degree overused and abused and more often then not of more harm then good. However, I tend to be a very stressed kind of person and one day I accidentally ordered a non-virgin pinacolada (before my raw days). I only had a few sips, but it chilled me out like nothing I'

I've been enjoying the "Sunfood Diet" by David Wolfe, though I don't necessarily agree with all of it . . . (still not sure about David's thoughts on the CaPNaK chart . . . excepting the big fat balance issue, anyone else have any comments on the book?)

I ordered a whole box of them and on the side nutritional panel it had the analysis. I don't remember exactly what it said, but as I recall it was about 200 calories fat, 200 calories complex carbs, and 200 calories of sugar . . . where did you get your data?

While at the Raw Spirit Festival in Sedona I kept hearing people talk about this book (including David Wolfe). When someone told me about the seeds and the growing (there is more to it - including watering the plants with water from washing your body), and how the plants can receive and store personal information, I decided I would look into it. I was just going to get the first book, but after

I agree that it could be allergies (I'd look for a good NAET practitioner to find out), but given that you used to eat a lot of garbage, I think the detox thing is more likely. (I was raised eating healthy vegetarian, then vegan for 15 years with high raw towards the later half and I still had some rash detoxing when I went 100%). You might try a special cleanse program (HealthForce Nutritional

Yes, I had the same problem when I went 100%. First, I think you have to give your body time to adjust, second, I'd say you might give juices a shot. Maybe up the fat too if you're not already maxed.

I agree with Jgunn that this is probably not the right forum for this question, but since we are a bit smarter and more in touch with life (LOL), I can understand your reasoning. Here are my remarks. 1. Sex drive can be channeled into other forms on energy, so a low sex drive may simply mean you channeled your energy into higher chakras. 2. Some people aren't intensely attracted to eve

What vitamins or minerals in particular are you trying to get from the supplement? There are plant foods that are high in specific ones that you might be able to replace them with. In fact, a lot of supplements are just ground up rocks and factory chemicals that just go right out through the urine anyway . . . My grandma's in her 80's and has seen some remarkable hair results with goji juic

Besides food combining, if the GI tract is not in good shape you can have problems with gas. I was doing all the food combining right and still getting gas (for weeks). I discovered that since I had taken a bunch of raw garlic (which is antibiotic), it had wiped out the good stuff in the colon too and evidently the bad bacteria was having a hay day. I took two bottles of Kombucha tea over a pe

I used to have terrible multiple allergies. Allergic to calcium and breaking bones, allergic to sugars and blacking out, eyes swelling shut from pollens, etc. I did a few NAET treatments and have not have them since.

You are right. I should have listed personal example as #1. I guess that was assumed . . . As far as knowing what is right? The science is clear enough that there really isn't a lot of room for opinion when you look at it. The only difference of opinion that exists is among those who haven't seriuosly investigated the science or the results that are happening across the country . . . pi

I had a feeling I might be misunderstood on that last one. Since 99.9% of technology is misused, that may not have been the best term. There are, however, very powerful natural processes, which, when used in a way that is in harmony with nature can do a lot of good. The basics are a good place to start, but in todays world, they may not be enough. The basics aren't going to keep GE corn from

As a rule of thumb, I feel best on mono. It is my standard about 70% of the time. Sometimes I think that certain foods can also help complement the digestive process, however (i.e. symbiosis). For instance, an acid fruit (like lime) might help brake down the roughage of greens. For this reason, I will occasionally mix things up a bit, and if I don't do it too much, it actually feels better th

There is no one size fits all diet. What Bryan is laying out is a generally good idea, but it also depends on where you are coming from. If you are used to eating a certain way, you are not necesarily going to feel better if you make a drastic switch to another diet. When I went off cooked grains, I actually had what felt like withdrawel symtoms. When I went totally raw, I actually lost a lot
