Hi, Maribill - I've posted before about cravings, having explored myriad of things, including dehydration, hypoglycemia, "spleen" things with accupuncture...etc. etc. for over five years I've struggled with eating badly, then going back, but never fully straying from the raw food prcess of healing, believing in it as I do so very much. I'm starting to settle into an awareness o

Hi, everyone. On second thought, I'maware that support, per se, is not available in a clear way from living-foods. Given my reading of all the posts about lots of things....people come from their own places, understandbly, and such a sensitive thing as support for dealign honestly with addiction does not belong here. So I'm withdrwaing my suggestion. To all you who are wanting to deal with

Hi, all - I'm starting a new thread for those of us in the raw community who want to support each other in healing from any physical addiction to food - whether you identify yourself as physically adicted to cooked food, or to fruit, or to any other food, let's support each other in the process of withdrawing/detoxing. I usually visit a few times a week and will check in as I'm able. Know

Hi - Personally, I don't take smoothies because I believe that chewing your food, mixing it with the salivary amylace in your mouth is healthier than downing liquid that just goes directly into your stomach. 40% of the amylace you produce is in your mouth. It helps with digestion. consider not by-passing it with any smoothie or juice. Just a thought. GeneticPromise

Hi, NNarz - In my experience, and from what I've read, wheat and barley grass are pretty much similar nutritionally. BUT barley grass is very very bitter, can be hard to consume, and takes a little longer to grow, in my experience. But the growth issue might have been a easonal change thing. geneticpromise

Hi, esp. Bryan - We just disagree, and I'm just hoping that we, as raw fooders, can get really healthy at some point, indivudally. Actually, Hippocrates does recommend 100% raw diet, unless you're not able to handle it. They also recommend not eating any fruit if ill, and very very little (rarely) if well. I think people do get ill on fruit, and, again, I'd be interested to know y

Modern fruit is much sweeter than the crabapples our ancesters used to eat. I think that we, as a community of raw, are in denial about our addictions overall with regard to patterns of eating raw. Sustaining both physical and mental addictive processes. I'm just wishing that we'd give ourselves the gift of naturla, optimal health based on healthy, sustaining foods, rather than high sugar food

Hi, all - for those who followed my miserably thing with a dental abscess...here's the final chapter... about four weeks after the gum abscess, before complete resolution, I noticed a bit of hard stuff under my gum, trying to move out. With a bit of encouragement (ouch) it came pushing out, and turned out to be part of a bad bone. About 1/" in size, hard, brownish. I believe a cast off

Hi, all - Yeh, I still believe, as does hippocrates Health institue, that fruit is unhealthy. So good luck to you all who are eating it - and check your blood glucose levels sometimes....if they're much over 100 after eating your fruit, you're at great risk for diabetes, dental problem, greying hair, etc. I didn't write this thread for a debate on fruit eating, I wrote it to connect wit

Hi, Rosmarjin - I do eat saladfor breakfast, and, as noted above, lots of vegetables, some legumes...it goes about like this: breakfast: 1 c. packed vegetables, 2/3 c. sprouted legumes, 1 tbsp oil Lunch: same as for breakfast, with a bit of seaweed in it. Dinner 1 1/2 c packed vegetables plus one ounce soaked seeds and a brazil nut (for selenium) The veggies are all green. T

Hey, Shineon - My food plan is lots of greens, some legumes, some seeds, some cold pressed oils, three meals a day, nothing in betwween, about two cups per meals. It's working! Thanks for replying! I know that lots of raw fooders have a fruit addiction/sugar sensitivity, and I'd love for us to talk about it more. It's a real health risk for all of us.. Genetic Promise

Hi, folks - update on eating less......I've finally found my way to coping with my overeating....and healing my fruit addiction, which got started when I began eating LOTS of fruit on raw fooding. It set up a carb addiction that made it so I'd go through withdrawal when I tried to cut down. I was running on fruit sugar. If anyone out there is needing support to get off of the fruit, maybe we

Hi, healthme, and welcome! My main message is to trust yourself. It's hard but worth it. Not to worry about how much weight you're losing, just shift to raw as you feel comfortable. Not to worry about being super-prepared or following recipes. It gives raw fooding bad PR. Being raw is really very easy technically. The body will direct you. Take care, rest, exercise while you detox. Tru

Hi, My hair is real short, but I find that being all raw, no fruit, low fat, etc., big on greens, I don't have to use any products on my hair, not even soap. I haven't washed my hair in four months, even though I've gotten dirt and paint in it. It just brushes out, no dandruff. I rarely use soap on my body either. In case this helps. GeneticPromise

Hi, Rosemary - I had thyroid problems a couple of years ago, from eating large amounts of goitergenetic foods , like those mentioend here - esp. cabbage. I seriously reduced the amount, and within three weeks, my TSH had gone from over 10 to completely mid-range normal. So consider t=doing that type of thing and see how it goes. Hi, all - Thanks again. I did try a fast some oths ago, five days on water. It didn't help. I'm not deficient in anything so trce minerls won't be of help, but I appreciate the idea. I'm cruising along on caloric resriction - three meals per day.....my system is getting used to eting less and having evener energy. Yay! GP

Hi, folks - thanks so much for the ides. I do try to fast ast 7 pm, but it doesn't help with the physical cravings....drinking more wter does help, but hasn't been the key so far. I've been doing well for the past three days, just willing myself, and thinking about the Caloric Restriction concepts....less is more. I think it might just take some grit for a bit, but I've done harder things!

Hi, Luna sky - Seems to be real time messaging here, and I'm off to work n a few minutes - thanks for replying . Mono meals haven't helped, but I am trying to habituate to a schedule (starting today)....breakfast, lunch, dinner. Eating slowly. It's not psychological for me, just a sttrong drive of physical habit of being constantly near-full. So the clock setting is worth trying as I g

Hi, folks - Any experience with this? When I started raw over four years ago, I lost a lot of weight suddenly, and caved into pressure from other people to slow the process. So I built up to eating like every hour....and years later, I'm still overeating. It's not nutrient deficiencies (checked that) not hypoglycemia (that, too) not other things, just a weird setting of my system to expec
