I cut back on raw food because my period went for 10 days last time. That cant be a good sign. They never lasted more than 5 days my whole life. People may say its detox or what ever, but when you are bleeding twice as long, you just want it to stop. I cut back on raw and it went back to normal. 70-80% raw and its back to normal. Im not willing to go 1/3 of my life with my period.

Im afraid of non-stick coating stuff, doesnt it kill birds? I use the silcone stuff in my dehydrator. Ye olde' silicone baking sheets worked great for crackers and cookies in the dehydrator. I see now that they have ones that fit dehydrators perfectly.

Raw was expensive for me at first, but I was way overbuying - I had no idea how much food I really did eat in a week. I spent between 50-80 bucks per week on myself and had way too much food left at the end of the week. Now Im getting better at it, less nuts and speciality items, buying just the basics I spend 30 - 50 bucks per week and I still have food left at the end of the week. I fill

Im against sunscreens. I read somewhere that they cause cancer, not sure how true that it.. not sure how true anything is, for that matter. I dont like putting any chemicals on my skin. I use aloe after being in the sun for long periods. Aloe reverses any damage if applied within 24 hours(another thing I read, oh no!) But at least its not a chemical, I have the actual plant. I do the

I go with how I feel, not by how someone else tells me I feel. I dont like self-help books, diet books included. In my humble opinion there are 2 types of people: 1. People who want to make money 2. People who actually do help others any way they can (including giving them info - free of charge!)

Im sticking to 80% and up. I tried 100% and all I did was fart. I used to be all or nothing. If I couldnt do something perfectly, I thought I was a failure. Now I give myself a break and allow myself to be human. 80% is a far cry from where I was a year ago. I look at how far Ive come, WOW! Thats good enough for me

averilbaveril The SCDiet may be the cure for what ails your family. Its worked on celiacs, bowel diseases, food intoxication, and many other things. It could easily fit into the raw diet. (I do both scd and raw). SCD limits the carbs you can eat to ones that are completely digestable. It eliminates potatoes, wheat, things like that. Its not so restrictive that its terrible to be on. I

I dont know about the 85% good bacteria vs. 15% bad bacteria but I do believe that we all have 'bad' bacteria inside us, which helps digests our food. There is a balance of good/bad bacteria inside where the friendly/helpful bacteria keep the 'bad' guys in check. Its not a war where you kill off all the bad guys, its more of a yin/yang thing. I learned this from reading online about intensti

It might be Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) - one of the more common bacterial infections. I had this for years, I blamed coffee, called it coffee stomach. Doctors treat this with antibiotics. I self treated mine with homemade yogurt, fermented for 24 hours for maximum PRObiotic punch. I prefer probiotics over of anti-biotics, because probiotics bring back our natural balance - where an

You may be interested in reading about detergents vs. soaps. The site is about eczema BUT There is a section on dandruff, among other health issues. I was thoroughly disgusted with most products on the market after I realized the difference between real soaps and detergent. Inside that site too is a list of 'safe soaps'; shampoos, cleansers, etc. (I use calben shampoo only now, as most

I use the crystal deoderant. There is a brand of it with 'potassium alum' which I avoid and one with just mineral salts and water. I use 100% pure soap only for laundry. (For everything really) After reading on the difference between detergents and real soap, I was disgusted that the big manufacturerors took away our good soap and replaced it all with detergents, some of which are still lab

I had candida from too many antibiotics .. everytime we sneezed growing up the doctor prescribed them. In my 20s my kidney shut down from the dreaded e coli. What I learned over the years from studying this whole 'candida' phenomana: There is a balance inside us of good vs. evil bacteria. Even the dreaded evil bacteria are needed and essential for proper digestion. Its a balance of yin

I dont know if this will help you.. but it helped me. I have the same kind of pain, inversion didnt work. I bought one of the better tables and later sold it on ebay. I did try yoga for a while, and that helped. What helped the most was one yoga move... I learned to crack my hips like a chiropracter would. My hips go 'out' a lot and that is what caused my pain. When I do the move, my hi

My best friend had IBS, then it progressed to colitis, then to crohns. He did the scdiet and was completely cured. That diet is great, I did it with him for many years, off and on. (Specific Carbohydrate diet.) It limits the type of carbohydrates you can have to only ones that are 100% digestable allowing your insides to heal - and it fits pretty easily with eating raw foods.

hello, Im new to this forum. I just started on raw foods, its been 5 weeks, the last 3 weeks were pretty solid. My breasts were killing me. Before they were a tiny bit sore during my periods. I waited it out and it finally went away, I figured it was an adjustment phase. So far my periods have been pretty normal. The only real problem Ive had is gas and breast tenderness. The gas

It may be the detergents you are using. I had chronically dry skin and eczema all my life until I read about the difference between soap and detergents. I tried everything, diets, not washing as much, switching soaps, creams, lotions...doctors, doctors. Since then I have switched to only 'real' soap... for laundry, bathing, shampoo, dishes, everything. Most of the stuff on the market, even m

I've been eating raw for 3 weeks now. I have way too much gas. Is this normal? Does it wear off? I was on SCDiet for years and I never had gas. Im suspecting the scd homemade yogurt helped me to digest stuff that now seems to be fermenting inside me without the yogurt. Otherwise, I feel great! I did go slowly towards eating raw, it was not drastic. Im still eating nuts that are 'ra
