Physical volunteer work might be fun, like a community garden, babysitting, habitat for Humanity. Not sure how accessible these things are to you.

I have heard that 80/20% thing many times, too. I don't know about the exact numbers but there seems to be some truth to it--you can't burn off toxins just from exercising, and you can make a lot of headway with just diet, but you need some exercise.

I don't like doctors much, but the one thing they excel at is dealing with acute situations like this. I would go to the hospital asap, like everyone else is suggesting. Good luck.

Most people, living in the city and not being construction or landscape workers, aren't going to get exercise unless they make space for it. I don't have a car so I always bike or walk, and my body still doesn't feel sufficiently used (like it let energy out) unless I exercise and lift weights apart from that. That's great if your lifestyle lets you exercise without trying, but that's not the cas

It is bitter (at least fresh, I've never consumed the bottled kind internally) and a laxative. Medicinal, to be sure. So my opinion is that it should not be used on a regular basis, but more sparingly. The bitterness/medicinal factor (that it forces a bowel movement) would indicate to me that there are some toxins in it. Once in awhile it can be very helpful. On the skin it is great and very soot

I use them the same, to taste, haven't noticed any difference in quantity. Maybe less, sometimes cooking kills a lot of flavor so you have to keep adding to compensate. I don't use salt though.

Yep, the E. Coli found in the spinach was from animal sources, of course. Organic farms are required (via USDA requirements) to compost mature for a certain amt of time at certain temps, which helps kill bacteria.

Yes, so we are not being inflexible for wanting to date a vegan! Thank you for expressing that. It is just being comptaible with our deepest values. Of course I don't care if someone is not as much a health nut as me

Well, if everything gets toxic, and we have to cook our food to live, then I guess we can deal with it when it happens. But I wouldn't pre-emptively do anything, I don't think you can. Also, not that this counters what you said, but the E. Coli outbreak was on non-organic spinach, which shows the importance of sustainable, safe agricultural methods. Our agricultural system is not safe or susta

Don't get me wrong, almost everything most people consider food, I consider to be toxic. But sometimes I feel like raw foodists can get a little paranoid about being pure, kind of like hypochondriacs. I mean, yes, there's toxins, but the body has mechanisms to deal with them up to a certain point. Yes, I like to eat pure, but obsessing over it isn't healthy, either. I also wonder what he means

Utopian Life, you are right, I always forget that there are people who eat a "vegan diet" for health reasons as opposed to veganism as a commitment to reducing suffering. It's totally different with my friends, most of whom are vegan or on their way--when I go to a vegan potluck, for example, we might start discussing the effectiveness of animal welfare campaigns, maybe, or a new vegan

And kids will fill up on milk and not eat. I just saw a 15 month old that went through a gallon in a few days, his parents had no idea why he wouldn't eat much food. They get it for free from the government Not *that* much though, the parents buy extra.

Yes, that's why excess intake of one (iron or calcium) inhibits absorption of the other. Excess dairy-induced iron deficiency anemia is extremely common in children in the US.

You need a juicer that has a blank plate--for homogenizing. If it's a cheap juicer, it won't have it. No, it's not as creamy as at the store.

I love carob, becasue it is naturally sweet. I eat it mixed with almond or hemp butter, or in smoothies with bananas. Some people mix it with avocado or coconut jelly for a pudding. It's not a fresh raw food, but a nice way to vary the diet.

Bryan makes a good point about the soil. If the soil is too mineral-depleted, nothing will grow there (which granted, is a problem that happens as well), which is why there are techniques for increasing soil quality. I like this point because many conventional-holistic books will push supplementation for this reason---plants don't have as mnay nutrients as before, they say, so take your vitamins.

Funny, I find myself "addicted" to carob much more. But maybe it's because I am lazy and carob is naturally sweet No drug-like effects from carob, at any rate. But the taste of chocolate is far different, IMO.

Pro of salad--more "natural", you use your jaw muscles, no oxidation like with blending Pro of blended salad/green smoothie--can liquify it much more than you could with your jaw which makes nutrients much more bio-available. I think it's fine to do what works for you, and if you do lots of smoothies, make sure you use your jaw muscles sometimes. If you don't, work on chewing sal

Once I stuck an avocado pit in the pot of another plant, to compost. Or so I thought. I got a plant, that I eventually repotted, and it grew to about two feet or so. Til it died from a fungus (overwatering) That was my favorite plant ever. No, they can't flower indoors or make avocados.

Sometimes there are things that are starting to happen, but no obvious symptoms yet. Sure, I might feel tired sometimes, but is it vitamin D deficiency (I live too far north to get sun in the winter), or do I just need to sleep more tonight? Blood tests might be a helpful adjunct sometimes to how you feel, depending on the particular test. I agree that they are limited, though.

This is great! You are the perfect person for this, especially because you are so clear about yourself and what you want, the results won't derail you no matter what. Worst case, you have alien blood and go on living your life. Best case, your diet inspires confidence in others who have been held back by the anti-fruit talk. The alien thing would be kind of cool, though
