I've eaten the nibs in that form with some raisins for added sweetness. It's like chewing on coffee beans, not too hard to do.

Mine didn't work out, but I didn't soak it first. That may make a difference.

Thanks arugula! Makes sense. There's a CR blog where she sticks with eggs whites for extra protein because she can't give up her wine habit--it's funny, sounds like your situation is similar (but you kept it vegan!).

According to this, from the UK, I would need 45 g protein. The World Health Organization recommends less as a minimum--0.75 g/kg ideal body weight, which is 35 g for me. But I know some people say they feel better on more protein, or believe that more protein is optimal (obviously there are people who say the opposite as well)--I was just wondering why arugula takes some protein powder.

I ordered recently--raw, unsalted olives, Lydia's crackers, and jungle peanuts. I was happy with my purchase.

It said the groats weren't just the sprouts.

Hmm, it says the sprouts but not the groats are toxic. I'm a little confused, I wonder what it is in the granolas and bars. Sprouted groats?

don't know about the limit, but I doubt it's straight-out poisonous, since a lot of raw companies use it, for gRAWnola and raw bars and such.

I agree with Bryan, I think it's more important to find a way of eating that you can stick with and do that for awhile before doing anything else. It's easy to do a fast for awhile and get a colonic, but it's not an actual lifestyle change, and it's easy to go back to poor habits if you weren't eating well for a long time before making those changes. Cleansing is not a race and any positive chang

Also--how many g of protein is in your rice protein shake? How much protein do you aim for? And why rice versus, say, hemp or pea protein?

Thanks for that! I do feel really good when I get a lot of greens in my diet (lots of micronutrients), but having the equivalent of two heads of greens a day was filling me up SO much that I just stopped eating them and went nuts, over on the other extreme--few greens, dried fruit, tons of fat. I just felt like I needed to eat and eat to make up for the weeks of being so hungry. Finally I feel li

Yes, many CRON people eat processed foods like Quorn and whey protein, neither of which is vegan nor seem particularly healthy to me. But they have a lot of good ideas still--we can take what works and ignore what doesn't. This CR guy is high-raw and vegan, he eats pretty much the same thing at every meal and says it has simplified his life a lot, pretty interesting.

I was in almost the same place as you (ht/wt/age), and was eating lots and lots of raw veggies, some raw fruits, about a cup of raw sprouts (like legumes) and about 2 oz fat per day--it came out to about 1300 calories a day and I lost the ten pounds FAST. I was also physically active and then started just *binging* on dried fruit and fat and a small amt of cooked food and gained it all back (luck

Natural plants don't need B12, so they don't have it. And the analogue exists because it fits into the ecology somewhere else, even if there's no known purpose for humans. Basically I would say--not everything is designed for humans and that's okay.

One doctor almost killed my dad, but another one saved him (not from the other one--he really saved his life). If you are desperate, it is worth trying. Not all doctors are the same.

I think it is a gradual process that you can work to, but can't be forced. I do like the feeling of having lots of space between meals. 15 hours I can do (over the night), too much more becomes not sustainble for me at this point and makes me want to binge.

I would go by your own experience on the fruit. I'm not sure, as long as I don't overeat I seem to be able to digest anything. Maybe I would notice more of a difference when overeating. She has interesting ideas for sure. What I found interesting--eating light to heavy throughout the day, starting out with fresh green juice (her green lemonade is great), *slowly* transitioning your diet, choos

I bet Odwalla adds it, I don't think they would lie about that on the label. For exmaple, lots of soymilk makers add B-12, it's not from the soy. So it would be real B12, like if you buy a B12 supplement.

Unfortuntely, it is well-known by scientists that the B-12 in these foods is actually analogues that *interfere* with absorption of B-12. Some older tests (not accurate) used to count these analogues as B-12, which is why it was thought that they had B-12. But they can actually lead the to opposite effect. Vegan Outreach has good info on this-->

Oh, yeah, that's just me, what I needed. They're plastic, though, didn't you hear that plastic is SO much better for you than glass If you do have bad eyes, you could always get another pair of glasses. Otherwise, stock up on hygiene supplies. I also used it for the chiropractor co-pay and acupuncture. Maybe you can do a mix of things (but my co-pays are only $25 and $10 each respectively).

Yeah, some companies are really doing all they can to dilute the meaning of "organic". The real organic farmers are my heros.

I have done strenuous activity in the morning, when I didn't eat until late in the day (like 2)--no problem. I wouldn't be worried about the reverse. You shouldn't keel over or anything if your body is working right.

Everyone is genetically predisposed to be more sensitive to different things, I think that's why there is no one answer. I know for me, it is refined sugar. I can have an awful diet, but as long as there's no refined sugar, it's fine (not sure about refined grains since I never ate them too much). I could have 80% raw and tons of greens, but if the 20% was candy--forget it, I'd be in hell. No way

I don't have light and mine do fine. The initiation of the sprouting process is the water--after all, if they were underground, they wouldn't see light until they already sprouted. Light is good for after the sprouting

Workers in the slaughterhouses are treated even worse, it is one of the most dangerous and horrible jobs. But you're right about the produce workers, I do try and buy from ethical produce suppliers as well, and organic at that.
