Coco - you need to put up pics of yourself and your other kids. Pakd4fun - awwww - they're adorable! I love seeing pictures of people and their kids. Hey Coco - what was that link to your unassisted birth stories again? Angie

I heard this interesting theory once - goes along with "You are what you eat." Basically, if you feel emotionally bad, and eat a cookie or something, that cookie not only goes along to form cells in your body, but so does the emotions felt while eating it, until that cell is replaced. I often wonder if that's why people have such a hard time loosing weight. You get to a point - wel

This has been a tough one for me too. I have been a server and worked in fast food most of my adult life, and LOVED it. I love the busy-ness, the variety of tasks, and the physical activity. That was intersperced with some office jobs that paid a LOT more, but because of what I now know are some auditory-processing problems with me (I have a hard time understanding verbal instructions. An ex

I catch almost all insects and put them outside - even spiders - even hobo spiders!! But I agree with the mosquito swatters. We live by water, and they are everywhere. Mice are real bad here too, even if you eliminate the food source they still hang out ruthlessly. And fleas - well - I do feel bad for the suckers, but they've gotta go. I know it shortens the life of the animal, but every oth

I feel a pie phase coming on!! I haven't got much experience making raw pies, but would it work to use the basic crust (in my case, I have dates already mixed with sunflower, walnut, and sunflower seeds - didn't soak them this time) and a filling of blackberries and something? I may either leave the blackberries whole, or blend them with something so the pie isn't too watery. In SAD pies y

I haven't had much luck with any juice fasts I've tried.... I just get too thirsty (if that makes any sense!) and am in the bathroom going pee every 15 minutes. Smoothies on the other hand are a whole different story. The fiber makes it last longer in the body... and while I can't last entirely off of those, my blood sugar doesn't go through the roof like it does with juices. Angie

It's also saying that if you don't enjoy eating there's something wrong with you. If "enjoyment" is the indicator of "doing the right thing," then I wonder why people don't "enjoy" giving themselves insulin shots, or taking meds for heart disease with heavy side effects, etc.... cuz those are all effects of eating just whatever one "enjoys." Maybe that is

I spend about $50 a week on raw food, but I'm not 100% raw. I try to have at least my green smoothie each day - that's my main focus. COSTCO is a great place I just discovered. Their produce (specifically spinach), if you don't mind non-organic sometimes, lasts a LONG time. Spinach will last two weeks because it's triple-washed. That helps a LOT. Before I was wasting a lot because it got ba

Plain and simple - I DON'T handle this... I had such a bad experience with it in the past, especially when I was detoxing ... it just adds insult to injury to have no one support you. So..... I'm not 100% raw, and I don't know if I ever will be. Right now I am just focusing on what I CAN DO WELL, which is breakfast and my meals overnight (working graveyards, alone). Usually when we go out as a

The hardest part with me is controlling my energy without cooked foods to soothe my stomach after consuming caffeinated beverages. I'm not sure which is better - coffee or the energy drinks with less artificial stuff - but either way they give me what I can only describe as massive hunger pangs (or stomach irritation?) that are not soothed by raw foods.... and not having caffeine is not an op

Take you and the kids to an all-you-can-eat Buffet. We have one here called the Golden Corrall. They have it all - excellent salad bar, meat for the carnivores, treats for the kids.... find something to satisfy everyone. I coudn't live if I couldn't go out once in a while - the drudgery of anything done over and over is too much! Go out! Have fun!

Dude. Giardiasis is something you will have for TWO WEEKS. I can't believe nobody has mentioned this here. Of course you're miserable - you're only in week one!! It has nothing to do with emotional issues. It's just something that takes TIME to get rid of. It comes from people crapping and not covering it up, flies landing on it, and then landing on your food. You can get it no matter

Get something called "Icthamol Ointment." I had three painful boils along where the underwire in my bra sits, possibly related to a plugged milk duct, or just more weight on the bra/skin. I had them for almost nine months. Going more raw (specifically cutting out dairy) in my opinion helps TREMENDOUSLY with boils, as I've always been very sensitive to them, especially anywhere ela

LOL! I'm IN! My dear dear dear husband just bought me a GREENHOUSE for our anniversary. Zeee plan is.... 1. Dig up rocks from down by the creek - GREAT loamy soil! Use to make wall around growing area. The greenhouse will be removed later in the season, and then old fencing will sit atop the wall and be weighted down by large rocks. 2. Erect greenhouse over growing spot 3.

Yeah, I know. I see it every day. I work in a convenience store, and people spend LOTS of money on the "healthier" fare like General Mills cereal bars, milk, whole-grain Power Bars... The latest thing is all this "Vitamin Water." Sobe, Dasani, Crystal Geyser, Glacier - we have two huge coolers of it. Flavored water with artificial colors, artificial vitamins, artificial swe

ROFLOL Coco. Sometimes the way you put thing is just so dang funny. "stupid stick thing" LOL - my thoughts exactly. That was the first thing to go when I got the Keeper. The keeper is really great tho... and it does take about three cycles to get a really dependable technique down so it won't leak - but SUCH a great little doohickey. >the diva cup and keeper take some playi

>****We are luckier than men in a > way, to have this to guide us.***** That is true, and another good point is, women on average live ten years longer than men.... maybe nature's way of paying us back for all the misery! LOL Most women menstruate on average 40 years, I suppose, so 40 years x 12 weeks/year = 480 weeks in lifetime. 480/52 weeks in a year = approx. 9 years of being o

You need a cart. Check out www.instep.net I have the $99.00 bicycle cart. You don't get the features of the $400 BOB cart that REI sells (has more drag during accelleration, is heavier), but it does the job. I lived without a car for 7 years, and biked 5 miles to and from work every day, and shopped at the co-op and hauled LOTS of fruits and veggies around! Also, CABBAGE is a great sta

I didn't shave for about 3 years. It was AMAZING how differently people treated me (badly!). I was once told by a 9-year old I was the ugliest person he'd ever seen. LOL - I have to say that deeply hurt though! And since I also had short, spiky hair at the time of course everyone assumed I was gay! I guess it depends on where you work. Phantom, you do home daycare so that should work pe

Ugh. I think we're closer to this then I ever realized. Whether or not people here believe in the Bible... but especially for those people in America who do... don't they realize this was prophesized in Revalation? And called, "the mark of the beast?" And that whoever doesn't get it won't be able to buy or sell anything? We're definitely headed for a predicted disaster. Scary.

That's what I would suggest too. Avocados or something fatty/more filling. I think if I ate like that it would be too light, and by the afternoon my body's nutritional needs would be cropping up on me. I agree with that article too. Cleansing overnight. Light food in the morning and early afternoon. Big meals later in the day to nourish me more fully and tie me over at night/ prevent hy

Hi Dave! Welcome to raw foods! Just a couple words - I recently discovered Costco for a source of bulk produce that is very decent quality. And as for that "hole" that is left - a simple sweets recipie. Either take a Vita Mix blender (if you have one) or a food processor and powder some walnuts using the S-blade. Then pit some organic, unhydrated dates (unhydrated ones
