I have this same problem. But you know that goes with about anything. My family loves watching episode after episode of CSI, and that to me is like mental rape. The healthier I get the more it bothers me that people actually ENJOY watching this creation of the human mind. Disturbs the heck out of me that people come up with these storylines. So, after a while I just have to remove myself. S

Yeah I'd have to agree with globalresult. If it doesn't agree with you... I mean, is it like a bitter-beer-face burn, or like a tingly burn. A tingly burn could indicate an allergy. Angie

Hey everyone! It's been FOREVER since I have been on this bulletin board, about a year, but I remember posting something to try and get rid of really horrible breath. Tried suggestions like wheatgrass, parsley, mint, oil pulling, obvious "normal" hygeine like brushign and flossing, to no avail. Even with a high diet of greens my breath has steadily gotten worse. Like the kind tha

"it is a weakening and discoloring idea that rustic people knew God personally once upon a time but that it is too late for us. There never was a more holy age than ours, and never a less." Good points brought up by all. But this one really hit home. I guess I have been forced to really look at some of my beliefs and whether I really think they are true or not.

35. 2012
Did anyone else see the History Channel's recent show, "Nostradamus 2012?" That scared the crap out of me. It makes sense that many cultures such as the Mayans, predicted something huge, natural disaster wise, could happen on December 21st, 2012, when all the planets line up in a row with the sun in the center. That only occurs once every 26,000 years apparently. What do you fe

Celery! I've been TOTALLY digging celery this past week. And "Tomb Thumb" lettuce blended into a smoothie. I know - not "mono" - more of a duo... but you know what I mean. Lol- I miss good mangoes. You can't find good mangoes anywhere consistantly in Spok-a-loo. Angie

Just wanted to say hello again, it's been awhile since I posted. Have been working like MAD at work (80 hrs. week) to support my vegetable and fruit tree gardening habit, which I will have to post some pictures of eventually because I have made MASS progress. Which I am REALLY proud of! I'm struggling with a bit of conflicting time management tasks, with regards to raw food. First and for

What's up with Hoodia? Lately Super Supplements has been running ads on the radio station we are required to listen to at work, like every 15 minutes. So it's kind of drilled into my head - something in some cactus that surpresses appetite. I have problems controlling my hunger too and well, the inundation of the ads are seriously making me wonder if this could help me transition. What is Hoo

Hmm. So this takes months and years to overcome? Ee gads. Well I guess it does make sense that it takes time for the body to "unlearn" the desire for the quick-carbs. I just wish it wasn't so agonizing in the process!!!! Well, thanks everyone for your input. I will be checking back, so if anyone else wants to add anything feel free. Thanks! Angie

One thing, as far as my health, that I have always been mystified by, and one of the strongest barriers to me being 100% raw, is my RAVENOUS hunger. I can never get satiated on 100% raw food. This really bugs me, because I want to have the healthiest pregnancy (and life) possible, but even healthier cooked food like brown rice, steamed veggies, quinoa, and other alkaline-type stuff just lea

Hi Sebzz, I have the same problem as you. When I eat a high portion of my diet raw, I am CONSTANTLY in the bathroom. Like, at least once an hour, but more often every half-hour. I DO have a glucometer (blood testing machine) and my blood sugar is in the normal range... although prior to eating more raw my blood sugar was in the pre-diabetic and diabetic range. There's no way to really tell

What does everyone think of dental sealants? I've been fortunate enough not to have a cavity in my life. I got my first sealant when they were experimental - about 20 years ago... and they are still there. I got some replacement ones for new teeth and some that had worn off the side of my mouth I chew on the most - those didn't last as long. Seemed like the original sealants were made of

Thanks everyone. We are pretty excited. I have been eating mostly raw and WOW what a phenomenal difference from my first pregnancy, so far. REALLY craving mangoes and almond milk. With Joseph I drank a lot of milk and ate a lot of boxed breakfast cereal. I'm not sure which created which problem first, but 0H was I nausious. I made the mistake this time of having a bit of breakfast cerea

Most licenced midwives are very friendly to people who have had prior c-sections. In all actuality.... It is safer to do a natural birth after a c-section because: 1. In a hospital you are on a timeline, and cannot birth according to your body's timeline. So you are likely to be subjected to Pitocin or other "hurry-it-along" procedures. PITOCIN IS WHAT CAUSES THE RUPTURE mos

Hmm. I think I do share this experience. Ever since getting more raw foods into my diet it just feels like something is "happening" in my boobs - not sure how to describe it - except for kind of a swirly feeling - I know that sounds really weird. ALMOST like my milk letting down or something, except I have not nursed in over 10 months. But it seems like the more raw I eat the more I

It could be a particular food that's doing it. For me it's apples. Maybe try rotating a few suspect items out for a few days and see what happens.

Hee hee. Some smoothies just have to go into the compost pile! I wouldn't be able to eat "worm d-jour" either. My husband lovingly tried to stir a smoothie using the plastic dowel of the VitaMix WITHOUT the lid to guard it from going in too far. Needless to say it shredded a bit off the bottom of the dowel and it was such a SMALL ammount of plastic but it ground it up into about

55. Re: DMZ
I used a garlic spray on my cabbage and squash last year. It was said to prevent "Squash Bugs" which are known by a lot of different names (oblong body, gray with a kind of "T" stripe on the back, winged) and other types of bugs. As soon as I saw the beginning of the problem I used about 1/4 of one of those approx 24 oz. spice containers and soaked it until hydrated in a 48

Actually you can make sun tea even in the cold weather. Tea (and coffee for that matter) will just brew more slowly. I drink tea. I've never heard of the teas you are talking about. They sound good! Just listen to your body and see how it reacts on the tea. I know the more raw I am, the less green and black (caffienated) tea agrees with me. But nutritive teas, such as alfalfa, red

Some dates are "hydrated," meaning they are steamed. I guess that makes them last longer by killing the enzymes? Not sure what the purpose is there. But they will look completely different - they are shiny and the skin hangs more loosely off it, rather than being wrinkly and more of a matte look to them. As far as drying, I do not know if anyone does that. Maybe try asking at

Well - here is my story. I don't eat 100% raw, but I do eat anywhere between 60-80% raw, with some cooked beef as a condiment on my salad about once a week, no dairy at all. Cooked whole grains about once a week (don't tolerate those well, but strangely white grains agree with me just fine) Try not to eat candy, but occassionally slip up. I eat a lot of nut butters and burritos. So yeah -
