As always, it seems like everyone's experiences with menstruation are so VASTLY different. For me, it makes no difference if I have a more positive attitude towards my period, or use pads only, take birth control/don't take birth control, or partial fast/don't fast. The only even remotely more-than-a-coincidence thing I have established is that it is relative to how many greens I consume. For

You know... dates are really great. I'd been craving them for about 2 weeks and on payday.... BONANZA! I spent $32 I've been packaging them up in those annoying "snack" sized sandwich bags (the ones that really aren't big enough to hold anything substantial) and I found those are perfect for holding 10 dates. I call them my King Sized candy bars. I eat them at work. Everyo

I gave oil pulling a shot the other day. It's a bit hard to get over the texture, but I did notice how fresh my usually foul breath stayed - about an hour - which beats regular old toothpaste. Interesting! Will keep experimenting with this! Another plus - my husband hates mint with a passon. I always used to joke if they made a toothpaste of steak or something he'd kiss me more - LOL - he

Hi Claire! Wow - looks like things are going great. I am getting hungry reading about all the good things you have to eat. Looks like you guys have a completely different way to measure blood sugar than we do in the USA. Enjoyed reading! Angie

My MIL picked me up some of those Greens to Go (they're from Costco). They're tasty - i'll tell you that - for "fast raw food." They taste like apple.

That's sad. I am so sorry to hear that! Yes, hopefully awareness will increase. All you can do is try to get the information out there, huh?

LOL - like Maui Butterfly says - people write books to make $$! People buy books to feel emotions. Whether it be happiness, sadness, intrest piqued, someone to relate to. People desire to feel spiritual, so they buy books that make them feel like they are doing something spritual. But yeah - it's really not rocket science, like you said, I don't think the two relate all that much, except for

Organic apples are $2.99/lb here right now, in an APPLE-GROWING state. Yet farmers are going broke because the big box stores are buying them for $11 a crate (those GIANT wood boxes you see on trucks) overseas, rather than pay the $14/crate asking price here. I think for most people in this country getting food, period, is a struggle financially, much less organic, as much as I agree that foo

Get 1 or even better yet 2 bunches of dark leafy greens into your diet each day. The best way is to blend them into "green smoothies" which is a big topic of discussion everywhere on this site - so you'll find lots of recipie ideas! This will give your body the vitamins and minearals you are missing, that are causing you to crave the extra stimulus from coffee. Trust me, this works!

Hi there! I'm working on a blog too. It used to be on myspace, but I dunno - I really hate the layout and I wanted the blog to be the main portion of the site - so I'm in the process of moving it over to blogspot. It's not perfect yet, but check back now and then! I've got lots of written work to transfer over to the blog online. Thanks for this idea, Seabuckthorn! Angie

Well put - isn't it funny how we humans are? Like smoking. Everyone knows it's bad but it's addictive! And even with an outrageous sin tax (currently $6.07 for a pack of Marlboros in

Hi Philippa! Here's what I have been gorging on this past month. And my 10-month old loves it too: Cut off a chunk of the cabbage. Mince it. Add chopped tomatoes Add cold-pressed olive oil. Are you 100% raw? If not, it's also good with quinoa (an alkaline, cooked grain) and nutritional yeast. Cabbage is SO YUMMY! You can also put it in wraps with pattes. Cabbage can be su

Denise, I think you raised some EXCELLENT questions, and I'm glad you brought this up. It would be enlightening for someone to study the cause of deaths for long-term raw foodists to see if any were accidentally killed by hospital drugs (like say, you were in a car accident and rendered unconscious and they you OD'd on the "regular" dose of hospital meds), or what they die from.

Add some greens to your mix! The ideal is to get 2 bunches of dark leafy greens a day for a balanced diet. With all those other delicious things, I'd add, say 5-6 leaves of kale for example. Try just blending a whole honeydew melon. It is AMAZING and totally different than eating it just regular. Try just 12 oz. blueberries and a banana. This is my "February favorite" 3-5 ap

Hi claire! I would definitely read your blog if you copied what you write on the diabetes forum you participate in. I am starting a myspace page (mostly blog-oriented) called RAWSPOKANE. Not ready to unveil it yet, but it has a lot of stuff about my experience with diabetes. Here's my experience with blood sugar testing and a blog I wrote for the month of January............

How do you find out if you have black fungus clumps? That sounds nasty! And what do you mean about having a lap belt installed, arugula? I also wonder if it's our water. It smells like a fart when you turn on the water (sulfer, rust, etc.) We have a cheap under-sink filter - hoping to get R.O. filter sometime in the future. It did seem to get worse after living in this house.

Anything by Victoria Boutenko. Check out their family website www.rawfamily.com and go into the "archive" section. They publish a free monthly newsletter and it goes back several years - lots of good, easy-to-read information. See if your library has anything in the pH Miracle series (pH Miracle for Diabetes, -Weight Loss etc.) Just spend time on this site - I still haven't read

I had horribe diahreah constantly while I was 3 months 100% raw. You know what it was though? I don't tolerate apples or citrus. I can have one or two every week or so, but not any more. It could be a particular raw food that's doing this to you.

That's too bad to hear frozen berries are blanched! I eat a 12-oz. bag of frozen berries EVERY DAY! I do feel phenomenally better than pre-berry days, though, and more importantly it helps me get the GREENS down, that I know I need. And my son likes them too, so I figure accustoming him to their taste is vital if I want him to eat right later. I plan on planting berries LOTS of berries thi

BALTOCHEF - I just wanted to say, I appreciate your insight. My hubby is really into the mechanical side of things and is constantly pointing out the things people do to shorten their car's life... so now I am curious if I am shortening the life of my blender. Can you tell me if these fall within the bounds of the 50-50 ratio of solids to liquids you are talking about? How much of the

I observed something interesting about myself. I got a new job three weeks ago. It's not glamerous, but it's at a convenience store called "Zip Trip" - the big draw is that it's just 5 miles from our home in the country and has set hours - four 11-hr. graveyard shifts - which works perfectly with dh's swing shifts. But anyhooters.... t all started with needing several cups of co

So I'm wondering... What can one do about bad breath. This is an embarrassing problem, but I always feel like I am smellier than most!!! Not just with breath. I know this is my body detoxing so in a way I am thankful because I know it's doing it's job. Or is it something else - like some kind of metabolic disorder or what? Eating parsley and drinking LOTS of water does not help. It's n
