anyone here a fan? I LOVE them, but haven't found an efficient knife or tool to make them easily. Any ideas, suggestions? The current knife I have makes mush. How about the food processor? Too chopped? What is the best knife?

I thought distilled water robbed your body of minerals because it doesn't contain minerals....that it can leach them out? Is that a crazy thought? The whole process is so confusing.

Have people experienced a change in weight when starting raw? I have actually gained weight, and don't need to. Or, want to for that matter! But, I have only been about 70% raw and feel like I am eating a lot more. I thought that people usually just dropped weight pretty easily though when eating raw? No? I eat 1/2 avacado a day, no nuts really, maybe 2 dates....and nothing with big fat con

Maybe that is the answer, I don't know. Maybe I am not getting "enough" but then there are days that I can't stop thinking about food, or stop eating. AGH!!!

277. Re: starting fresh
I am totally struggling. I do great in the am, and then lunch is such a killer for me. I just want whatever I shouldn't have....sugar, soda, total junk. I deal with the cravings all afternoon. How can I ease them? Or, get rid of them!?!? I feel like I have to white knuckle my chair all day in order to stave them off. I have been craving foods that I would typically NOT eat. Please tell me i

No you shouldn't!! Your body has to work extra hard - first to warm it up, and then to digest it. I would recommend room temp, or a tiny bit cold only if you have to. I still use about three pieces of crushed ice to a huge blender full, but it is never cold. I throw that in to offset the warmth from blending, but always try to keep it around room temp.

I am adding my question here too - what the heck can I do with collard greens!?!? I said this in another thread, I have only ever eaten them when I was younger with bacon! Cooked, obviously. Any ideas? I too have an abundance of them from a co-op, like four batches!

I posted this in another thread, but am going to post it here too because I am desperate. WHAT can I do with collard greens? Just juice them? Blend them in smoothies like kale?

Vitamix 5200 - love it. Use for cold soups, smoothies, milkshakes(DH), sauces.
Love the efficiency, the ease, the payment plan, the simplicity of cleaning it. Works wonderfully.
Nothing I don't love about it - well, just the fact that I don't have a tamper for it and have to use a wooden spoon for now, but only every now and again.
cost $450. definitely would buy again, and would highly

I am the same now with beets! I ate so many of them, cooked, shredded in salads, made into chips, and on and on. I LOVED THEM! About a week ago I put beet greens in a smoothie and almost gagged. Then today shredded them for a chopped salad I made and literally had to spit it out when I put it in my mouth. I could taste only beets and it reminded me of what I would think eating dirt tastes li

So interesting that we can get ourselves worked up into whatever feeling of the moment based soley on a post from another person - do you believe in santa claus, I want to make smoothies with you in the kitchen, who has a god, who doesn't, what is real, and what is not, why do you wear high heels, etc. Seems to me like so many judgements, which i think Bryan was eluding to earlier in his posts.

So interesting - what you say about the tooth erosion. I was drinking warm lemon water for a bit and "thought" I had to stop because I was so sensitive to it - my teeth were. If I do it again and just continue, will the pain eventually go away? I had an ED so it made perfect sense that my teeth were feeling some pain. What would you recommend David, or anyone?

I just happened to see a video on the blendtec website about making smoothies after posting this. He put the core in of the pineapple (blending of course) and the seeds of the fruit - canteloupe, watermelon, etc. However, it didn't mention anything about lemon or grapes or cherries. He did say that seeds add extra nutrients -protein. I think it was Victoria Boutenko who said lemon seeds make

I own a new vitamix 5200. It truly is great. In the beginning I was not using enough liquid and food was just sitting there....hence the busted up tamper. However, once I got my measurements down and realized that I need more water with veggies than I do when I am blending fruit, etc. it has been a dream. I love it. I am truly loving how the smoothies taste and also the texture - totally smoo
