deegarry, I'm so sorry you're having a hard time. I don't know the exact situation. Only you can know it. But I do know one thing... I'm not one to give up on people easily because everyone has the right to be ignorant. What they don't have is the right to be arrogant. When people cross that boundary with me, after several chances, I back out of those relationships. Who needs it? Th

As a soon-to-be-ex-cooked-food-slug, who knew there was this whole other world going on around us? Not a spark of fascination has worn off on me about this whole experience yet. Just extraordinary. (Take into account my screen name. I really do live simply and it doesn't take much to amuse me! Ooh... shiny object... play, play, play...)

Nutrition Data doesn't track zinc and selenium? These sites fascinate me and I'm looking forward to experimenting with them both. I don't care about the fitness tracking. Just a place to help with "nutrition data" so I can eventually have "fit day!"

I just know that 10 speeds are out of the question. What the heck were they thinking with wheels as thin and a super model? The only other bikes I know of are the mountain bikes and the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood bikes with the bells and baskets. I'll have to research bikes before I choose one. Comfort will have to be a priority. (Seriously, what were they thinking when they designed those

Personally, things like raw food bars are out for me. I wouldn't be opposed, at some point, to try making my own (just for fun and experimentation), but the more I research this, the more I'm finding that I want to keep things as simple as possible - for the most part. Making beautiful recipes has it's place and I want to incorporate some fun into my lifestyle, but I'm more interested in simple

I haven't decided if I'll incorporate dry brushing into my routine yet or not. I don't want to be so busy doing all these extra things that it interrupts my day. I mean, a person simply can't do everything. I'd like to do it for the purpose circulating the blood though. For some reason, both sides of my stomach have been itching a lot lately. I don't get it.

phantom How mineral-rich the soil that grew my food is? This is a very good question. The research I've been reading for years has said that our soil is basically depleted of nutrients because it's been overworked. The ones we put back in aren't natural and isn't good enough. This is why I want to have my own place where I can grow much of my own food. We've gotten away from God's origin

My goal with eating raw isn't to become a guru, a shaman or for spiritual enlightenment. I just want a healthy way to grow old, as disease free as possible and stay active. Unfortunately, that means exercising! There's no way around it. Going 100% raw is 100% easier for me than this! I don't mean to make myself sound like a slob. People don't gape at me and point or anything. I'm just yo

Grains are the one area I'm still a little sketchy in, in regards to the raw life. I cooked grains regularly. Love 'em! How do raw foodists usually use grains? Which do you sprout and which do you just soak?

fipperjan, I think when you're brand new to an idea, especially one as important as this, it's wise to research the resources available to you and pick a few to use, even if only for a time. Nutrition is important and just eating raw doesn't guarantee you a healthy, disease-free life. Many raw foodists suffer from deficiencies and this is almost always due to lack of research. This is your

Just a note: I had a friend with a digital camera come over tonight and take some "before" pictures of me. I have never allowed pictures of me to be taken before. I only have one of me and my best friend a few days after his wedding and that's strictly for the memory of it. I couldn't believe my eyes when the pictures were downloaded into my computer. EZ rider, Well, you pretty well answered that question the only way it really can be answered! Naturally, co-ops would know best how to store them, so why not do what they do. It's so simple that I'm beyond embarrassed for not thinking of that myself! suvine, I agree. I'm really impressed with Bryan's simple eating. I was pretty sure I didn't want to go to Tree of Life after Suvine explained it very briefly. Now that we have even more of the story, there's no way I'll ever step foot on the compound. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but that is way off balance and teetering on a cultish infomercial in my book. Talking about the supplements they sell for hours? I wonder how they'd react if some

A quick question that goes along with this thread: Do you have any special tricks, techniques, rules and/or warnings about how you store your food? Which items do you refrigerate and which do you refuse to? Any tips in this regard would be appreciated. Disclaimer: I'm not an idiot. I've bought fruits and veggies before and did just fine. I ask this for two reasons: 1) I don't know e

Not only that, it helps you to see exactly what you're eating, so that's got to be worth a few awareness points right there. It also shows me that it will be helpful and wise to keep track of exactly what I'm eating, at least for several months. I can't thank you enough for your h

I'm sticking with the clumping litter. It's expensive, but it's worth it for me. Over many years I've tried every kind of litter possible and they've all been garbage. They smell, they're dusty, cat hates it, etc., Have you seen the ridiculous one made out of dried orange peels? It says it's dust free and all natural. You'd expect a lovely citrus scent, right? WRONG! I opened the bag and
