QuoteOh, no, that librarian is wrong! What a shame! I regularly go to the Walker, Central, East Lake, and Franklin, and request books from others as well. Here, do this: --Go to --For your search, type in "raw foods" under "Subject" and you will get 20 results. If you do "raw food diet" you will get only 14. I don't know if it all overlaps or not. There are no

Maybe a visit instead of a stay. And secretly bring contraband! rost0037, check out OHI in the link rawlovebaby provided. It's cheaper and, from what I see, better. I'm definitely heading to the one in Texas.

I live in Minneapolis and there are many books on raw foods at the library-Green for Life, Juliano's Raw, Raw Food Real World, Ani Phyo's book, Ann Wigmore, lots of older ones, etc. You can request books that have been checked out or are at other libraries, and even request that they buy a certai

Ahhh... I see. I did breeze through it a little too quickly. I didn't realize it had an online version. Nice to get the stupidity out of the way early, I guess! Thank you both!

QuotePosted by: Utopian Life (IP Logged) Date: February 27, 2008 02:05PM The Soy Delicious Purely Decadent line has some good chocolate ice creams that are at least vegan, of course not raw. May I recommend the Peanut Butter Zig Zag? Most excellent! But, I've had my last one. You know what? It's okay though. I really don't/won't miss it.

Lisa, This is perfect and exactly what I was hoping for! So far, from what I'm able to deduce, I would have bought too much. Then, in order for it not to spoil, I would have had to overeat. Thank you! rost0037, Can I ask you for a few more specifics for what you eat in one day? It doesn't have to be exact numbers or amounts if you don't know, but a good guesstimate would be great. Welcome to the forums lovekk! Your skin will take time to detoxify and adjust to your new lifestyle. It's not a quick process, but it is one that you're in control of. You can detoxify as quickly or as slowly as you want to. To help your skin, be sure to drink plenty of clean water throughout the day. In the cold weather season skin dries out naturally anyway. One way to really hydr

On FitDay it had a buttom that said it was to download the program. I'll take a second look at it. (I'm at work and do

Quotewhile most people who begin a raw foods lifestyle probably do so to grow old healthily or lose weight, i bet a greater percentage of experienced raw foodists who are passionate enough to write a book about their experiences are motivated by the less visceral aspects. That makes sense. Growing old healthily, losing some weight and feeling better are my motives. I'm a writer, but I doubt I

Thank you David. I can always count on your help! It's good to note that David is a fruitarian though, and not a veggie eater. I hope others will take the time to list out their daily groceries, too. I know it takes time, but it really is incredibly helpful and appreciated! Thanks again, David! Anyone one else?

I picked up Conscious Eating by Gabriel Cousens at the library last night. I didn't expect it to be so huge! I was surprised to see that this was the only book they had available about raw foods. The few others they keep in stock were checked out. I would have thought a big city like Minneapolis would have more variety. Then again, I usually find this to be the case when it comes to things

Food here in Minneapolis (within the city) is spendy. I have a co-op near my house but it's small and the variety isn't there. Whole Foods is the most expensive grocery store in the Cities. We have farmers markets here but they're known as "The Asian People Who Buy Food Wholesale From The Same Vendors And Sell It Themselves Market." It's the same stuff as in the grocery stores, but

There's been a lot of advice on the forum as to what to eat, what to avoid, tips for preparation, how to not become deficient, ways to heal and oodles of fantastic recipes. I've learned so much and, come Saturday, I'm jumping in whole hog! Well, whole foods anyway... What would be amazingly advantageous, benevolently beneficial and positively productive, would be if some of you would be so

Forgive my newbie-ness with this question, but, if I remember my research from several years ago correctly, aren't apple seeds toxic if too many are consumed? Granted, it could have been total bunk and I wouldn't have known it at the time, but I do remember reading about that. When I've juiced in the past, I always juiced the whole apple. I've never eaten the seeds unless it was by accident.

QuotePosted by: greenie (IP Logged) Date: February 27, 2008 08:11AM I love it. If I wake up congested or achy, 20 minutes of oil pulling gets rid of it. I use cured sesame oil (sesame oil I've heated to the boiling point of water, once, and then cooled). Why do you boil it? I'm considering trying sesame oil because I figured it would taste the best. Once I begin the raw life, I'm sure I'll still have the odd cup of herbal tea during the cold months. It's the black tea with Carnation Evaporated Milk and raw sugar that I'll miss! That's what I'll miss the most. (That's it. I promised myself I wouldn't cry...)

Being that I'm just about to start my raw food life, if I found out I only had three to six months to live, I'd still start down this road. I'm so ready for this I could just quack. It's just that I think you have a great writing style and it would have been great walking down the road with you! But, the most important thing is you did it! Thanks for the inspiration!

What do you do after you spit? Brush your teeth? Rinse your mouth out with water? Nothing? Also, is there an oil that's considered best to work with for optimal results?
