When I wake up in the morning after a night for hard partying, I crave saurkraut! Which these days seems to be more often than not. ;-)

I once heard that all rice sold in the US was de-natured (something to do with some rice disease). So the only test I know is if you bought it in the US, it's probably de-natured. I would love for somebody to tell me otherwise, i think it sucks we can't buy viable rice.

I just had some saurkraut and kim chi for breakfast! Love the stuff. But you'll find that the stuff you make tastes way better than the stuff you can buy.

The rice was probably de-natured (killed) at some point before it got to you. Wild rice (which is a grass not a rice) works much better for sprouting/soaking. Ian.

Everything is poisonous, or at least if you look hard enough you can find people making such claims for anything. Also, if you take a large enough dose of anything (even water), you'll die (or get sick at best). Is molasses raw? I thought it was similar maple syrip and had been boiled for a long time. Although there seems to be enough people putting maple syrip in food and claiming it's raw

Wow! Do you have any facts to back that up? This seems rather bogus for a start: "Americans are largely convinced that soy is the miracle food to fight everything from cancer to heart disease to hot flashes--and a slew of other illnesses in between." I've certain never met anybody who thinks soy is a miracle food and I know a lot of soy/tofu fans. Most people I know cook with it

What type of energy do you need? Bio diesel? Electric? Lettece? There are a couple of bio diesel collectives in the area, also so I seem to remember a California wide green power provider that you can sign up with. Cheers, Ian.

Hi, I see the "MMMM. I love eating animals" some where between defending their diet, with hints of insecurity and some baiting. I think one of the reasons people get defensive about there eating is that they feel their diet has been attacked. I've seen so many vegans railing on meat eaters for eating meat that it doesn't really supprise my to hear comments like that or worse. Ther

I've only used the phrase "sin carne", it means "without meat". I think the closed thing to vegan is "vegetariano". Ian.

I liked some of the Think Organic Raw Bars, but I've found mold on a bunch of them which has completely put my off the brand. I've not had that problem with Raw Revolution or Lara's Bars. Larabars in the San Francisco Bay Area cost anywhere from $1.29 to $1.99. Ian.

Has anybody tried to get something off them? Reverse the scam. Maybe they could send over a box of mangos in good faith or something. ;-)

Congratulations! Good price! I ended up getting a champion as well. It's got it's plus and minus, but over all I'm really happy with the money I spent. I have the commercial version, but I'm not sure it was really worth the extra money. You can also make nut butters (watch out for over heating if you try to make a lot) and Bryan gave me the tip of putting frozen bananas through it with the

Hi dfbai, dehydrating bananas and apples to low temp (105F) isn't hard, I do it and wish I didn't more often. I see low temp and sun dried bananas in the shops as well. Are larabars raw? I have two larabars in front of me, the chocolate coconut chew flavour says "raw food" on the packaging, the other Cinnamon roll flavour, doesn't. I try to avoid the larabars with roast coco

Is there anyway to read it online (I know some ebook stores have a webclient version thingy)? Otherwise, it looks good, from the pictures on the web page anyway. If you ever get around to releasing a non-PC friendly version, please let me know. As for the format, PDF (or postscript) would be great. I might be able to get access to a MAC, if a MAC client comes out, but PCs are right out.

Craigslist is a good place to start pricing things: Questions to ask yourself that might affect your COL Will you have a car? Pets? Do you need lots of sunshine? Do you want a quite or social and noisy life style? I just moved to SF a couple of weeks ago and don't yet have a handle on food costs yet. For utilities, PG&E costs me about $60 a month. Cheers, Ian. Just say NO

<surfer voice>DUDE! GLOBAL WARMING! We might get coconuts in California soon!</surfer voice> I would love to pick fresh coconuts. Maybe one day. The way I normally open is mine is to hack to small holes (one for water out and one for air in) on the top, drain it, hack to the top off, then enjoy my drink and flesh. Another option I've used is a power drill, I even keep a "

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "Essential oils", but I'm thinking they are things like hemp seed oil and flax seed oil. I've pretty much replaced all the oil I use with hempseed oil. I don't put oil in my smoothies, but I sometimes put a spoon full of flax seeds in them. Cheers, Ian.

Hi Rawrrr, there is a chance that larabars are made from organically grown foods, but they are not certified organic foods so they can't print it on the label. Just a thought. Ian.
