I've eaten a few like that and suffered no adverse effects. Generally I decide to eat my coconuts based on smell and taste. Ian.

With long term dormant meat born diseases like mad cow/bse, if you feed your children ANY red meats, you are endangering their lifes 20 or 30 years down the road. The only thing you do as a responsible parent with an obligation to give your child the best chance of living a long life and raising your grandchildern is to raise your children on a strict vegan diet. I have a lot of respect for p

The Kikuyu are the most populous tribe in Kenya, there are approximately 7.4 million of them. The Maasai population is some where between 250,000 and 500,000, although some estimates put it at much lower. Seems the Kikuyu are very successful when compared to the Massai.

Hi Marcos, I have the Blendtec Total Blender, on the bottom it says 1500Watts, which is where I get the 2HP rating. This is probably the normal duty cycle power rating, with peak power rating being much higher, although peak power rating would only be reached when something almost stops the blades. Maybe the Ktec champ hp3 has a different normal duty cycle power rating. Thanks for the tip

Soooo, I broke down and bought a 2HP Blendtec Total Blender yesterday. I used it for the first time this morning. I'm not sure I've made a good purchase, time will tell on that one. But anyway, here is my initial report on using it. This is done mainly comparing it to a $10 blender. The first thing I noticed when taking it out of the box was how light it was, this got me a little worried th

Hi Vegangoddess, normally alcohol will suspress the bodies ability to manufactor Anti-Diuretic Hormone (ADH), which is chemical messenger which tell the kidneys to absorb water. However, if you drink regularly, your body will compensate for the low levels of ADH and make more, this allows the body to absorb water when drinking alcoholic drinks, or more importantly, absorb the water contained

Hi, some wines (although not all) are raw, I'm not sure which ones as I don't drink wine. My fav. raw alchol is cider, although not all ciders are raw (some use concentrate apple juice), but the tradisional cider making process requires cider to be raw as it's fermented using wild yeast, any heating or washing would kill the yeast. ALL beers are cooked, regardless of bottle/can/keg, the be

Hi, I find that buying prepared raw foods is expensive in general. Larabars seem to be the best buy, have good consistance and keep for a long time. Does the $2 it costs to make them cover labour as well? Another thing I take in to account, is how many people are buying them. If they can sell a lot, then $3-$4 is probably a good price point. But, since there isn't a great deal of pe

I love basil. I like to treat basil as a green and put a whole bunch in a salad. Something like lettuce, pear, grated carrot, tomatoes, basil, onion/shallow and some hemp oil and nama shoyu for dressing. Another salad I like to make with basil is get a bunch of nice juicy tomatoes (aireloom work great), slice them up (not too small), add the basil (rip up an big leafs, but try to keep the

I consider them raw even if they are fermented. If they are in jar, they are not raw, as the canning process requires heat. Some olives are sun dried and don't have the salt/brine/vinegar taste. I try to avoid pitted olives since they soak up too much brine for my taste. Good luck, Ian.

I don't really see where a dick pics fit into "Living and Raw Foods Discussion (Vegan)" forum. Even if it is raw, it's certainly not vegan. There is a "Other Health Related" forum on this website, maybe that's a better place to post dick pics and talk about sticking things in ones ass and jerking off. When I see things like people trolling for children and people posting

I didn't think I would like Saurkraut, until I made my own. I think I've eaten it before and didn't like, but the stuff I made was great. I didn't have time to make any recently and bought some, I was able to eat it, but it was no where near as good as mine. The recipe I used is post in the recipe section of this forum, under a request for fermented foods recipes. I use a mix for red and gree

Hindu Push Up: Hindu Squat: I got those from following links on wikipedia from this page: I don't think Matt Furey is doing anything wrong, if he's a good motorvator (which is a trate of many conmen), then the people he is teaching are probably getting a lot more than just the information on how to this stuff. I'm not pro or anti Furey, but I probably wouldn't pay to be taught by

Hi, I've been doing a fair bit of camping lately and I'm getting ready for more, so I figured I'd share what foods I've been taking on the last couple of trips. Trip #1) 2 day river trip in a small white water kayak. I could take very little gear. - Bag of plain mixed nuts (cashews, brazils, peanuts, walnuts) - dried navel orange slices - dried banana - dried mango - dried pinea

Thanks for the responses. I'm still skeptical that it's worth buying an expensive blender. My $10 blender lasted 3years and it seems that if I buy a high end blender I'll be replacing the container/jug every year or two. Also the way it fails could leave me with contaminated food (YUCK!). The power difference between the vita-mix and ktec is 120watts, but the ktec has a higher shutoff/stall

Coconut is pretty much always raw unless you are buying some processed stuff at the store. When I'm going camping I like to take some dried coconut with me. I cut the coconut open, drink the juice, scrape out the flesh, cut it into small cubes, toss it in the dehydrator over night, then it's ready to eat. Have you had much luck sprouting nuts with their shells on? Ian.

655. Re: Menus
When I prepare meals I like them to have a theme. Here a mediterranean themed meal I like: - raw hummus (many recipes out there) and sliced veggies - tabouli (sub hemp seeds for bulgar wheat) - raw falafel - raw baklava (thin apple slices for phyllo) Ian.

Generally i consider it silly for healthy people to eat low-fat diets. Especially people who are paying more money for food with stuff taken out of it. Take milk, it's hard to find milk that hasn't had most of the fat taken out (and replaced by other stuff like vit-D)... Yet another reason why living a raw vegan life style is easier and healthier. Ian.

Hi, try and organize a raw food potluck to meet rawfoodists in your area. If you don't have a kitchen big enough you can hold it in a public park. Put ads up in your local organic groccers and health shops (and the internet). Good Luck, Ian.

658. sunburn
Hi, I got a lot of sun this weekend while out camping, unfortunately I missed a few spots while applying sunblock and got a little burnt on my back. Any suggestions of what to use for healing this? I guess I'm more interested in food/eating since I can't really reach the places that are red to apply anything to the skin. Although I do have an Aloe plant in the garden and might apply some
