Prism, Several people here have had good luck curing infections with wheat grass. I have had good luck in curing infections with diligent flossing and brushing (dry brushing for 10 minutes or more) and swishing peroxide in the mouth for 1-2 minutes and spitting it out. Peroxide is poisonous, so if you do that, be sure to 1) not swallow any of it! and 2) rinse your mouth out very well afterwa

Taylor, That reminds me: When I was traveling and eating poorl before the kidney stone, I was also drinking coffee (1 cup/day). IMHO one of the worst effects of coffee is dehydration. I'm sure that contributed to it.

I love the idea of research but most of the research is flawed. You need to look at the way the study is set up to determine if it may be useful or accurate. And... Have you noticed, arugula, that the research of yesterday gets refuted by the research of today? For example, the hormone replacement therapy that was hailed by scientists as a fountain of youth with reams of research showing b

I also had a gall bladder attack years ago when I first went raw. I was very healthy and in my 20's, way before the age when that's likely to happen. My diet had been mono fruit during the day and a large raw vegetable salad at night for some months. When I could get it, I'd add 1/2 avocado to the salad. Anyhow, it was the middle of the winter, I was in Spain on a meditation retreat, it was c

When I can get raw organic corn, I blend it with or without spices and lime juice and dehydrate it for a delicious raw tortilla. It's not quite bread but it's very yummy.

It's an ancient remedy, respected in ayurveda and I'm sure it's good for you, but I for one can't get past the ick factor.

I don't know what that was, it could have been detox, the flu, too little sleep, not enough water, bad food combining, or some weird voodoo the body was doing. I've had fatigue like that when I cut out stimulants. It's not a bad thing, the body just needed to catch up on rest. It took some time of getting extra rest but I got through it. If I'm feeling tired or weak, the best thing I can do i

Congratulations Taylor. I'm impressed with the 7.5 miles per day. You're an inspiration.

Taylor: that keeping your calories to 1000 per day and walking 7.5 miles a day will take care of the weight loss. Thank you for responding.

Every once in a while I read about that on the 'net, get convinced it's a good thing, buy some damned book on the subject, and spend the next two months shuddering at the thought of doing it. Cannot get past the ick factor, no way.

You're welcome, Taylor. I want to know how you lost all that weight in such a short time. Would you be okay with telling me more about what you ate and the exercise you've been doing?

We had a discussion about this years ago on this message board. I have a friend who was a nurse in a major hospital operating room and who now assists a proctologist. I told her about the belief among the colon cleanse people that there are decades of incrustations in the colon and asked her if they saw that when they open people up or do colonoscopies. She said, no she has never seen anythi

Bryan, I'm going to omit garlic and onions for a while as you suggest and see how I feel. There are some misconceptions about Ayurveda, however: > > Ayurveda is a ancient practice that restores > balance to the bodies that have been taken out of > balance by eating cooked foods. I agree that much of Ayurveda does this, but not all. AV was designed to restore balance

The 'garlic and onions' section of the rawfoodexplained.com site reminded me of all the natural hygiene people on this site who used to post volumes of material pronouncing opinions as facts, no research, no personal experience, just flat statements of 'this is how it is'. There's a famous old tale of a renowned vaidya (ayurvedic physician) in ancient India who gave his students one last task

P. S. I agree with Bryan on this point wholeheartedly and have experienced the same thing several times in my life. After being sleep deprived for a bit it can take weeks of sleeping a lot to catch up.

James, Aside from diet (light in the evening), exercise, and other considerations... Going to bed earlier (before 10) in the evening gives a better quality of sleep. Then I can get up earlier and feel fresher. YMMV

rawdev, If your temps are low and you have symptoms, something's wrong. I agree with that. I just can't understand the purpose of all those tests. With hormonal problems even those who go the medical route have 15 different opinions about how to diagnose. They recognize those tests are unreliable. However, for argument's sake, let's for one moment assume the tests are reliable - what d

Seajaee, If you don't have any other symptoms of low thyroid (fatigue, low immune function, etc.), I wouldn't worry about it. I tend to go off on a tangent on that subject because I did have it for so long and because of all my reading on the subject. So when I hear 'low temperature' I have a knee jerk reaction that says 'low thyroid'. Your metabolism will slow a little with less food, and cer

Sage10, I think it's true in lots of cases and if you are moved to try this, it's the best thing for you. You're not going to hurt yourself by drinking juices and going raw or taking NCD. And also, everyone's different. Some people - most people, really - feel better right away but it can also take time. Sometimes there are uncomfortable detox symptoms. And during that time, it's really he

Arugula, I'm not surprised he lost his license. But low temp is a much more reliable sign of low thyroid than blood tests. I'm sure it's no more widely accepted than the raw diet, however.

Low temperature is a classical symptom of low thyroid but it's so prevalent that most MDs don't pay any attention to it. The classic book on this is Hypothyroidism: The Unsuspected Illness by Broda Barnes: You can read more here on Dr. Wilson's site: I had that condition all my life nothing helped. I did the protocol on Wilson's site for about a year. My temps went up, but almost ne

Sage10, If you are ill, you might want to consider seeing a naturopathic physician who can advise and monitor your progress. It's fine to come here for inspiration but you'll get a very mixed bag of advice. Dr. Joel Fuhrman is an MD and naturopath (http://www.drfuhrman.com). I haven't met him have but I've read his books and website and think he's spot on. I like that he's both an MD and
