I didn't object to confuzed out of insecurity, but because his posts clogged up the board with nonsense. I didn't read all his stuff but what I did read struck me as insincere and repetitive.

Fruitarian One, I hope you stay. You are a great source of inspiration and instruction for all of us and this forum would be poorer without you. From the few posts I read by Confuzed, I did not think he (or she) was posing sincere questions, I thought he was a troll, or just a really idiotic and annoying kid without the interest to read up on the resources people were giving him. In other wor

mtnkathy: "I believe that people who are "older" and inexperienced with fasting need to have some sort of supervision by a health practicioner familiar with the fasting process!!!!!! Otherwise it can potentially be detrimental to your health." I agree completely.

Felix, A good chiropractor should be able to adjust the valve so it closes. Also, IMHO even aside from the acid reflux situation, if you have been eating really badly it might be a good idea to build up the body with lots of good fresh juices before fasting. Not to scare anyone but a fellow in my home town got enamored of fasting. I don't know what his complete fast consisted of but he

ilovejen, are you eating this way because you're too lazy to prepare the veggies or because of taste preferences? Often my eating habits are crappy out of poor planning and laziness regarding food prep rather than food preferences. Then, planning and preparing ahead makes a difference.

I agree with alive!, I use parchment paper. I don't like teflex because it is coated with poison Teflon.

I tried Network, too, years ago, 3 x per week for months and months with no results whatever. When I complained that the pain wasn't going away the Network chiropractor would say 'Pain is not always a bad thing.' Maybe pain isn't a bad thing when it happens to someone else, and that someone will keep paying you to get rid of it. Duh. I feel really stupid for having gone so long. Another great

Wheatgrass Yogi, I get lazy about doing the exercises, even though they just take 10 minutes. And when I finally get my lazy bottom on the floor and do them, I'm always amazed at the difference. Let us know how you do with them.

Here are two other great resourses: Somatics by Thomas Hanna. Many of the exercises are in a book ("Somatics" by Thomas Hanna). Hanna studied with Feldenkreis and developed his own system. He believes the problem is not with the muscles and bones but that the central nervous system develops 'sensory-motor amnesia' and forgets how to relax the muscle. His program consists of gentle mo

I've done really yummy tortillas out of ground up fresh corn. I used corn with no seasonings, but you could use salt and a little lime juice and jalapeno to spice it up. I just blended the corn into a batter, spread it on pastry paper and dehydrated it. Wonderful.

A few years ago, I was living in a place with a great organic farmers market. I didn't always get it together to shop there, sometimes I'd shop in the regular store, which carried non-organic produce. When I shopped at the farmer's market, I'd eat organic for a few days, and at other times I'd eat non-organic. On the days I ate organic, I would end up eating about 40% less than when I was eating

I make tortillas out of fresh corn. In the Cuisinart, process the kernals into a batter consistency, spread it on teflex (or bakers paper) sheets and dehydrate it. Corn may be considered a grain, though. I suppose you could do the same with other vegetables. It would be fun to experiment with that.

Yeast bread does it to me, and cheese. Put 'em together and it's a killer combo. It's full of salt, too. Plain cooked grains (in moderation) are ok for me, and plain steamed veggies and simple cooked beans. No yeast, no animal stuff. I like the grains & beans better if they're soaked overnight first. Years ago (early 70s) I ate mostly raw. I went to a naturopath and he had me eating m

Lillianswan, Thanks for reminding me of this. I've been eating cooked, all sorts of vegetarian "junk" food, including pizza, cheese, stuff like that. Most of the stuff is organic and 99% of the world would think I'm eating healthy, but I know better, and the rest of us here know better. I feel awful. I've gained weight. My downfall is: I hate to prepare food. I live and work

rawmark, I don't use plastic either. I use the Sigg, which is lined with glass (enamel) and has no taste. I've tried cleaning the stainless steel, but I can still taste it. Kinda sensitive that way.

I use Sigg water bottles. They're great -- I use them for water. I have left full containers of water in my hot car for as much as a month and the water tasted as fresh as when I poured it. They're metal lined with a non-reactive lining.

Low calories can cause low body temperature, which is a sign of low thyroid. One symptom of low thyroid is thinning hair. I'm not sure how this relates but the connection jumped out at me and I thought I'd pass it along.

I hate multi-level marketing but there is a product that is very good that is MLM. It's the Awareness herbs: Experience (colon cleanse) and Clear (parasite cleanse). I researched them a few years ago and found they were the best. IN the process of my research I came across a professional colon therapist who swore by them. He had been doing colonics for about 15 years. He said his clients generall

Also, the Godin Family Farm I mentioned above is organic but hasn't gone to the expense of getting certified. Here's a message I just got from Janice: Our syrup is produced organically we have just not put out the expense to become organic certified. We add NOTHING to the syrup. What you get is 100% PURE maple syrup.

Marcos, Thank you. I did a quick search and did come up with one article. Apparantly some farmers use(d) formaldehyde pellets where they drilled the tree to keep it from closing up, keep it producing sap. It is illegal and unknown how many if any still do it. Nevertheless, I found a good source of organic grade b maple syrup here: It's $37/gallon with reasonable shipping.

Marcos, I just got off the phone with two different producers and they don't use any chemicals at all to process the syrup. It's just reduced using heat. Some use very hot water to clean the equipment and some do use cleaning chemicals that are carefully rinsed. They are meticulous about that because they do not want to alter the taste of the syrup. Where did you hear they use formaldehyde
