OK now I show my ignorance again. Isn't all water alkaline? Some may be more alkaline than others depending where u get it from. I think coconut water is the best. Distilled water is good for cleansing and detox. Whatever you do get enough Peace

Hi Sandra I relate to your concerns. In the beginning, in a transition period, it seemed so difficult and complicated. All the recipes and many new ingredients. The cost seemed so prohibitive. I don't know where u live, a lot of those things for me have to be imported and hence were really expensive. As I have been out of full time employment for over a year. It forced me quite early, to keep

Rawne or anyone, what's wrong with RO water? I used some from a friend of mine whilst on a cleanse recently and it was the closest to distilled I could find. The only other was battery water in plastic bottles, not sure it's for human consumption. You could use 3% hydrogen peroxide H2O2 for sterilizing. Hope that helps.

I have just started making my own krauts, without salt though. Using Viktoras recipe from Survival in the 21st Century. I look in history and every culture, used ferments at sometime or other. We humans been doing it forever, maybe to compensate for cooked food damage. who knows. I think it is an acquired taste. and so far I am enjoying it enzymatic and probiotic effects. Enjoy

I live in the tropics too and have been able to grow some sprouts successfully. I find that rinsing more often than temperate recipes suggest helps and good drainage is essential. I am growing in trays out of direct sunlight in the beginning, then direct sun to green them. I then refridgerate them on paper where they continue to grow a little and stay fresh for a week (depending on type). Smaller

IMHO cutting back on salt has to be a good idea in any case. Salt is drying to the body, not good. I know it is not the same thing. I had an uncle that was narcoleptic, he was a big guy and deaf too. Would fall asleep mid sentence. Sleep apnea is stopping breathing, serious, if it was me I would be getting a full check up with a trusted professional, then continue with the healing raw foods. T

Lejla During my travels in Ghana I saw women buy red clay soils from herbalists, to eat whilst they were pregnant. I also heard about clay being used in detox. I thought about using it too, however trying other more intuitive ways first. Who knows what the future will bring. Enjoy

Greetings Everyone Well all I can say is that the party went excellently well. I did what I needed to do to take care of myself and stay on track. I did that by preparing my food ahead of time, ate plenty fruit beforehand and shared in the salads and stood my ground with dignity, with an attitude of service with a smile. When I wrote the original post I was in a bad way, inside my own head and

Krefcenz I will not hijack this post with that argument about the cost of raw food. I live on small Caribbean island and we have to import most things. Anyway, Watch this space for a new thread, when I have fully formulated my response.

Just to clarify David Z, the lady from 'Wife Swap' didn't start to eat meat, just cooked vegan foods.

Hail Everyone I was watching the goggle box the other day, I was about to change channel when I heard that a raw food eater was swapping lives for 2 weeks with a two times a day meat eating & hunting woman. Well if any of you have watched this show, they come back a few weeks later to follow up on them. Unfortunately the raw food eater was now a cooked food one and the hunter had become an

I really relate Catalpa, water and air help. I am hungry now, (it is early am and I should be sleeping)it's amazing that if you go to bed hungry, you wake up feeling full. Anyone else experience this? I am trying to shift weight and eating too late is not going to help that cause. Unless I am diabetic, I am not going to die if I don't eat tonight. Like someone else suggested, eat more food in t

I would not suggest it. U would have to defrost it to get the skin off and it would be really a soggy mess.

OK anyone, what's wrong with the pink coconut water? Here in the Caribbean we get different types, colours, flavours, sweetness and I've drunken pinkish water before to no ill effect that I can remember. I usually get problems when they're cloudy cloudy. A very effective diuretic,

I saw a video from Kevin Gianni testing the electrical properties of some health food store products, including green powders. It did have electrical current though not as much as coconut water. Not sure if this helps you.

I love raw food because I live in the tropics and when I am on the road all day, like today, and I have to take my lunch with me, it doesn't spoil and go off in the heat like my SAD food used to . Because I am juicing right now, I am finding the clean up a chore, however it is still faster than serving over a hot stove or oven. I love the impact raw food consumption is having in all areas of my

Greetings everyone I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you for your support these past months. I been an 80% raw food eater for one year, since October 28 2008, when I had a spiritual awakening. I have released 85 lbs. I am feeling the best I have since my twenties. I definitely getting younger. Some adverse reactions made me alter my food plan, however to get to the next level of my

"Where There Is No Doctor" Home Mix Rehydration. Adult up to 3 litres daily. In 1 litre of water, add 1/2 tsp. salt (no saltier than tears). 8 level tsp. sugar (molasses). To this you can add 1/2 cup fruit juice, coconut water or mashed ripe banana. Sip often, every 5 minutes, day and night. It suggested avoiding mainstream doctor, because the antibiotics they prescribe are dubious.

OK so all raw food is living unless its been dehydrated. Is that a good definition? Some food is more living than others. What role does enzymes play in this equation? Somehow I am still confused. Doh! Thinking about it, Dr. Ann would use dulse in her energy soups, that dulse is dried therefore not alive. So maybe that lady was exaggerating. Scrambled brain.

Of course I realize the forum is called Living and Raw foods, however just reading someone talking of Ann Wigmores work, she made a point of saying she only ate living foods. Sorry for being stupid, what exactly is the difference? I figured the majority of raw food would be living because it has enzymes. I look forward to being enlightened. Peace.
