Coco, I agree with you. I wash ALL my produce carefully with soap or sprayed with peroxide, depending on the product before using anything raw. Even if it is something that I peel before using (including ORGANIC), I always wash it very well before cutting into it or peeling it. But I agree with you as well about long-term storage. Aside from refrigeration, the only safe way for long-term stor

Oh yes I can eat 5 or 6 tomatoes for a whole meal. I live on 'em during summertime. I also love onions in my salad, especially green spring onions. Love the flavor. I've just never had a bad experience with any of those ingredients. Love to eat sweet Vidalia onions or green onions just by themselves. Yum.

I used to have that problem whenever I ate anything with oats. Doubles me over in horrible stomach pain. The best thing I can suggest in situations like that is to take copious amount of activated charcoal..... and avoid the offending ingredient. =)

You're not kidding!! I juiced a big chunk yesterday morning in my orange/lemon juice and realized I used WAY too much!! Burned like the dickens!! Had to give the rest to my husband (who lives on garlic tobasco! *LOL*), because it was too strong for me. I think I've determined the same thing as you - it's AWESOME in small doses. =)

It's funny because I used to not be a big fan of bananas. I liked them in cereal and occasionally by themselves, but NEVER liked banana-flavored anything (pie, ice cream, candy, etc.). I'm still particular about the condition of my bananas, but I've been enjoying them more and more lately. I don't like them "ripe" or speckled and neither do I like them GREEN, but I have been enjoying

I agree with both Bryan and David. That seems to be the most logical process for any ingredient in question. Each individual's system is going to tolerate products differently, whether it is because of our particular chemical make-up or because of previous damage done to our bodies through improper diet or health practices. I would be devastated if I had to give up tomatoes, but I guess I woul

I agree. If your only choices are organic frozen or canned, then I'd definitely choose the organic frozen. In times of crisis, you simply have to make the best choice available until the circumstances change. You're STILL getting good nutrition from the organic frozen berries. Good luck and enjoy. =)

Glad to help. Always remember who "owns" the medical industry - Pharmaceutical companies and government. First of all, doctors are not even TAUGHT the principles of health and TRUE nutrition in medical school, so they are generally just as ignorant of true health as most people in society who take their word as "gospel." And even for the doctors that DO understand basic nut

As a huge lover of all 3 foods, with no negative side-effects, I will definitely have to study up on your research to understand those conclusions. I understand how different people don't easily tolerate the various foods in their system, however, I'd have to do ALOT of research to rule out TOMATOES !! They're a favorite in our home and hubby loves when I make him our home version of "V8&q

This is me smiling from ear-to-ear. What a glorious experience. Having much experience with many different cultures, this also typifies the standard level of hospitality from many other cultures aside from our own. Extremely gracious and accomodating. What a beautiful experience and thank you for sharing. =)

Thanks for the tips WY. I sort of came to the same conclusion. I get confused when looking at all the different models on the websites. I would definitely use mine multiple times daily for my smoothies, so it needs to be able to take a routine beating. Is your's 2HP or 3HP ?

Nevermind. I didn't get the auction and found out that model is actually 9 years old. I'm sure that would be ok and that it works just fine, but if I'm going to sink that kind of money into something, it might as well be new or almost new or at least a refurb. =)

la_veronique - That was the most respectable and sincere message I've read in a long time. I appreciate your honesty and humility. Believe it or not, I actually agree with you. I tend to rise up in arms when people are criticized for exercising their free speech because those freedoms are quickly being erased in our country, and I will always rise to defend the freedoms of others, regardle

As an allergy nurse, I can confirm that your allergist won't be too eager to try to define what chemicals are used with bananas and other produce. Your best bet would be to find out what chemicals are commonly used on those produce ingredients and then ask him to order a blood test specifically FOR those chemicals. The test would be called a RAST test or CAP FEIA test. If you take those test n

Getting ready for my next big purchase as soon as I can sell my Green Star juicer, so I'm looking for the best places to go shopping. Thanks. =) I read a thread somewhere about a place to get refurbished ones, but I can't find that thread again.

Ok thanks so much for the suggestions and resources. I added a small, un-peeled chunk to my juices this morning and didn't think I even tasted it. The whole drink was refreshing - Tomatoes, Oranges, Lemon, Ginger chunk. Even hubby liked it. Will keep experimenting. Thanks for all the wonderful suggestions because I would love to add this to my daily diet for its health benefits. =)

They have to dehydrate it first, obviously. THEN pulverize it. I, personally, don't dehydrate products, but the argument is that most of the enzymes are "not" destroyed in the low-heat, long-term dehydration process. Whether or not this is true, does anyone know if the enzymes are "re-vitalized" when re-hydrated? I know that BAD things, like bacteria and viruses, can be &q

Yikes, that spooks me because I was putting my green smoothies / juices in glass jars to take to work. I always drank one on the way to work and left it in the car all day, but washed it out good when I got home - not necessarily in the DISHWASHER, though. Makes me wonder if that's what might have caused my mysterious "flu" bug the last 2 weeks? Would botulism cause a fever and relen

In the past, healthcare workers could always ask for waiver forms for tests or vaccines (and I assume it used to be the same for educators), but it's been so long since I faced that situation that I highly doubt they are easily available with the government cracking down on those things. I signed many waiver forms back in my day. She can always ask. She also needs to check her state laws for v
