Poetree - God bless you for your sincerity, but get ready to be ripped to shreds for your beliefs. This is a very PC forum, so I hope you have a strong constitution. It is no longer fashionable to be a good old fashioned, Bible-believing Christian American any longer. Hold onto your boot straps for the ride of your life, 'cus it's gonna' get ugly. *grin* =)

I always use a whole lemon in my juices, with the peel included if the lemon is organic (washed very well). Adds excellent taste and benefits. =)

Juicerkatz - I will provide more sources soon as I have time, but this one came to mind: Benefits of Sunlight for your Home Sunlight is not just good for your health. It’s good for your home environment as well. Here are some ways sunlight can be used in your home: One of the major benefits of sunlight in your home is that it is an effective germ killer. You can clean and freshen up your

I agree. It's amazing how simply I can manage to live on produce just from Wal Mart. Fancy and "organic?" Not always, but I do the best I can with what I can afford and what is available. The blessing of "whole food" is that it is exactly that - "WHOLE FOOD." When a budget is tight, you can often get just what you need for a balanced healthy diet from a few simp

Viruses and Bacteria cannot live in pure natural sunlight, so that stands to reason that exposure to those full rays would purify water. To what extent, I can't be sure, but it makes sense to me.

Thanks. =) I'm having such a hard time trying to decide between these 2 models: * 5200 Model (2hp) Reconditioned - $379 / 8 Yr warranty * VitaPrep 3 Model 1005 (3hp) - $475 / 3 Yr warranty My gut instinct tells me to get the VitaPrep 3 model and be done with it, but just want to make the wisest investment for the cost. *sigh*

Looking for BLACK FRIDAY sales for Vita-Mix anywhere if anyone knows of any. =) Still haven't bought mine (due to the need to "re-distribute my wealth" to another financial need after selling my GS juicer *LOL*), but now in the market for sure and didn't want to miss out on any possible black Friday sales. =)

I always thought Ginger would be "spicy," but don't find it spicy at all. I find it rather refreshing in whatever I put it in. Definitely helped a recent cold/bronchitis when I made quarts of hot water with juice from a whole lemon, raw honey, and slices of fresh ginger. It was so warming and healing and very very comforting.

It sounds like you will need to start gardening. Things like tomatoes, greens, and sprouts can be grown inside. You can also order some produce online for reasonable prices if you shop carefully. Co-Ops are also helpful in some situations. I don't know your religious affiliation, but as a Christian, my encouragement would be - Take the challenge, be faithful, and God will provide in miraculou

I highly recommend this website for juicer (and otherwise) purchases. Family-owned, extremely honest, very very reputable, fantastic Ebay reviews. I definitely plan on buying my Vita-Mix blender from them when I make that purchase.

I've only recently discovered how much I love using this little root in just about EVERYTHING I make - from juicing it into all my juices to blending chunks into my smoothies, I LOVE it. Any thoughts or preferences or information on the wonderful little root?

For a newbie (or anyone for that matter), I definitely vote for the Green Star (any model) to cover all your needs successfully. You can't go wrong with that awesome juicer and I never had any problems juicing anything with it once I learned all the little tricks. LOVE juicing greens with it. My current favorite is the Omega VRT which suits my personal needs, but for heavy juicers with a wid

All of the above suggestions are excellent. I'm also on a budget and finding good raw food in the winter is even harder! I make out pretty good at Wal Mart with produce like: Bananas, Tomatoes (cherry), Celery, Greens (bagged), Apples, Oranges, Lemons, Ginger, Grapes, Avocado, Peppers, Carrots, Garlic, Onions, etc. etc. Most of it is not organic, although they occasionally carry various organ

sophy26's Full Review: Vitamix 5000 Variable-Speed Blender I've been the proud, proud owner of a Vita Mix 5000 for a year now, and it continues to be my most prized possession (even the digital piano, which cost about the same, hasn't edged it out!). As I read through the other reviews, I could relate to many of the sentiments. Yes, I too, once walked through a restaurant supply store and g

LOVE LOVE LOVE Chia Seeds!! They really pulled me through my viral stomach flu a few weeks ago with non-stop diarrhea for more than 7 days. I made quart jars of Chia Seed gel and drank on it all day to keep up my strength, retain hydration, and aid the healing process. It worked wonders at helping me to keep up my strength while at work when no other food would "stay inside" me. The

Sounds like an awful lot of citrus / acid. My green smoothies normally consist of things like: Grapes, Apples, Kale, Spinach, Lemon, Tomatoes, Bananas, etc. Usually some of those items, but not normally ALL of those ingredients. I try to vary the ingredients alot. Your standard recipe just sounds awful heavy on the citrus/acid ingredients, which could be too much for your body. And I also a
