Vanilla is just strong stuff. The powder I got from Living Tree Community Foods is amazing. Is that where yours is from?

Papayas. But I don't believe in this mono-fasting thing. I once did. Not that it's not possible, just that it's not beneficial, imo.

Totally on my own through meditation, with the help of some psychotropic substances. A few friends had had good experiences and recommended it, of course, but it was at a consciousness level that I really came into it.

Personally, I think you die-hard vegans are over the top. However, I don't eat honey or any sweetener because I don't like how they make me feel. *Fresh fruit* is nature's divine sweetener, and it makes you feel fabulous. If you're really craving some extra sweetness- how about some dates? For me mangos and papayas and melons do the trick. That said, I don't think we should be judgmental ab

Fresh date season is just beginning, actually, and will be in full swing next month. I really recommend Pato's Dream Date Gardens, especially their halawi dates. And all their dates are organic, and the company is also unionized with UFW, if you care about that kind of thing (the karma of workers being treated decently comes out in our food, if you ask me). '

Coffee strips nutrients from your body, and you drink eat, not eat it. It starves you; it does not feed you. But anyhow, coffee addiction- which I struggled with for years- is a very serious drug addiction! Just because society normalizes it does not make it any less extreme of a reality. Society feeds us very, very warped perceptions of drugs, to put it mildly. I had to look at coffee addi

One day sounds good, but I can't do more than that. If you're really eating well I don't see why you'd need a long fast, but if you're transitioning off a SAD diet, maybe a longer fast would be great.

Coffee is not a food! It's a stimulant drug that strips your body of nutrients. For a lot of people, especially as you eat more raw, coffee has a really powerful effect, an can "trigger" you into feeling out of control. Dates are a trigger food for me. Too much sugar, unless I keep them in strict moderation, which I have trouble doing. I just donated the last of my dates to the local

Maybe it's time to move on. I know that these days my body feels better with high-water content fruit than things like dates and bananas, especially in the summer. Yeah, maybe it'll change in the winter.

IMO Harley is doing a great disservice to the cause of the high-fruit diet, which I largely agree with, by making videos attacking other raw food activists and coming off as a hyperactive prick. Also, while I personally personally stick to a very high-fruit diet along the lines of 80/10/10 in the summer months, in the cold winter climate where I live I have not found it realistic, and I think

They're raw, but they're not fresh, and fresh dates are a whole 'nother world of goodness. Even though we're at the exact opposite of date season (it starts in September), you can still get some fresh ones left over from last year's harvest. www.dateland.com

Perhaps. For me in a cold climate I'm finding that practically all I want in the summer is fresh fruit. My body goes absolutely crazy for it, and it's divinely delicious. And I eat a moderate amount of nuts here or there, when I crave them. But in the winter- totally different story- I needed a lot more fat/protein. When I tried to be fruitarian into the winter, I could barely get out of bed.

Eat what tastes delicious to *you.* Fresh fruit usually tastes delicious to most people, so that's a safe bet, especially if you're in a warmer climate. Eat whatever nuts you like, eat salads only if they hit the spot. Don't follow someone else's program; choose your own adventure.

I know there's a "tastes like refried beans" pate recipe in Gabriel Cousens' "Rainbow-Green Live Food Cuisine" book that's based on sunflower seeds and sun-dried tomatoes, but I don't have the book on hand.

Never had the flat-shaped sunflower seeds, though I've wondered about them... probably won't bother trying them after your non-recommendation. I don't usually bother soaking nuts, either, as my digestion is fine, but I don't doubt that it's good for some people, and when I do sometimes soak almonds in particular, other folks seem to like them. On a cashew kick currently- even though they'r

Oh boy, that's rough! Maybe try really hard to use your jedi powers to feel out which one will be good? I've been all about melons recently, but the exotic ones. Anyone else? I've tried the hami, galia, santa claus, and the orange fleshed honeydew (honeydew-canteloupe cross). The santa claus melon is my favorite so far! Ha! Any other recommendations on specific melons or thoughts on melons? *N

I really agree with jimtoo. I've tried every reasonable (non-processed) diet for extended periods of time, and have felt good on all of them at times. Given the limits of this forum I can't say everything I feel, but... I do think that folks have to realize that A.Climate is a big factor in diet. B.Individual physiology is at least somewhat of a factor, and C.Our bodies' needs change! There is a

P.S. And if it's true that David Wolfe drinks coffee- not surprising, since he advocates chocolate, another stimulant- completely de-legitimizes him to me.

"the more raw I get, the more over-stimulated I feel from it and not in a good way" Right! The more you clear your consciousness the more you become aware of the negative effects of stimulants, including both caffeine and sugar. Three pots of coffee a day is *unbelievable*! Your body will have a slow recovery process from that.... Relaxing herbs can be very helpful, I find.

The people obsessed with their body image and exercise are the 811 crew, but they're hardly the most conscious people. Living off of dates and bananas is completely and utterly ridiculous. If you'd wait until you're actually hungry you'd find that your body needs some actual substance, things like vegetables, protein, and- gasp- fat. sigh... TheStorm, I lost you... You can ween off with tea, that's what I'm saying. These "experts" the media feeds us on dietary issues... um, needless to say, they're more than a little questionable. I've seen "study results" in the mainstream media that say that four cups of coffee is good for you. Study funded by the coffee industry, perhaps? Thats how this system works, ya know....

I like the consciousness that comes with fats and veggies much more than eating lots of sweet fruit. I tried high fruit, and all that sugar was really disturbing to my peace of mind, and made me kind of depressed. I think anyone who's never tried low-sweet should try it. There's a glycemic index of fruit. Stuff like berries and citrus aren't so bad, but the super sweet fruits are over-stimulating

"am I any better off eating rice, quinoa, and corn products than I would be eating wheat and other gluten products?" I say definitely. Quinoa is good stuff, and you can sprout it Buckwheat, too. I know that those are the two grain-like things that the Gabriel Cousens crowd recommends. I personally like sprouted buckwheat a lot.

How can it taste so good? I think it's the smell that gets people. You really like the taste, or it's just an association? And then we have beer- how people can get that drug down their throats is beyond me (I've never had one in my life). At the very, very least one could switch to decaff, though decaff still has a fair amount of caffeine. I think the best way to quit coffee is to take a few
