Maca was mentioned on this forum by several people as having been being given to dogs so at least it won't kill him. But I've also seen it mentioned as being high in phosphorus and several sites on dog kidney disease mentioned limiting protein to limit phosphorus. So, I don't know about that, I don't know exactly how much phosphorus is in maca as compared to protein sources. That's cool th

I would avoid the animal products, I read in Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin that on "The Farm", which was a vegan commune, they delivered about a thousand babies on the commune and only one lady ever had preeclampsia/eclampsia and she had it for all her pregnancies so she was unique.

Sorry, I meant the link you posted. Since your login is Wheatgrass Yogi I thought the wheatgrass site link you posted was yours. A half gallon of liquid fertilizer mix!?! Pray tell, what's in it? Is that expensive?

WY, I love the illustrated growing instructions on your site! It makes it seems so easy, I noticed that you don't cover the wheatgrass with wet paper towels while they are in the covered stage, that was always what I was taught to do, does just covering them work better than wet paper towels?

>The conclusion of Kaunitz and Dayrit "dietary coconut oil does not lead to high >serum cholesterol" is not one I would make based on the raw data of the Pukapuka >and the Tokelau. Anyone here looking at this same data would not arrive at the >conclusion these two arrived at. Would you? I thought that statement was contradicted by their own evidence since the Sri Lan

Like I said, coconut oil increases good cholesterol (HDL) and I should have mentioned that it DOES increase total cholesterol levels. Ok, on page 3 of that report it says that HDL and LDL ratio estimations were not carried out in the surveys between the islands . . . but they were carried out between Tokelau and Tokelau imigrants to New Zealand and LDL levels were higher in the immigrants to New

Just wondering why we juice fast and not just blend the food? There is so much waste when juicing, why don't we eat it?

Coconut oil has a melting point of 76 F, I don't know if the body will separate the lauric acid out from the rest of the coconut oil and create a lauric acid that will bind to the arteries. When I look up arterial plaque it says nothing about it being composed of lauric acid, just cholesterol crystals and calcium deposits.

The raw food diet will help because it is high in vitamin C, and humans are one of the few mammals that do NOT make their own vitamin C in the liver or kidneys. Vitamin C activates certain amino acids which then help to decrease the aterial plaque. Grapefruit pectin is great and can reduce cholesterol without a change in diet: "We conclude that a grapefruit pectin-supplemented diet, w

I was just looking at these charts of the ph values of foods (bottom one on this link) and it says that the ph value of brown and white sugars is 5.5 (very acidic, only a very things are more acidic) and the ph value of dried dates, figs and raisins is 8.5 (very alkaline, only a few things are more alkaline). They are virtually at the oposite ends of the ph spectrum. I'm just mentioning t

Actually I do need that many bananas, I have four people eating them and 40 pounds a week for four people is only a little more than 1 pound per person per day - that's not a whole lot actually. I used to fill up the top of my fridge or stove twice a week with bananas, now I just buy a box and I have remarkably less waste due to having to cut out the bad spots. Before, my frozen bananas were all

Thanks David,I was wondering if they were hiding in the box itself but now I realize that they were in the peel. My mom researched fruitflys on the internet for me and told me how to catch them. I made fruit fly traps by putting bait in a container and then covering it with waxpaper and securing it with a rubber band, then I poked holes in the waxpaper with a fork (about three time). The flies

I was reading in the book World's Best Kept Beauty Secrets By Diane Irons that "chi chi" salons were using mud wraps made of 100% clay kitty litter. I spluged for some $2.20 kitty litter and tried it. Not bad, takes a while to get it turned back into mud though.

Hair loss can show up months after the diet was changed, actually I should save this and post this horror story on Holloween but you can read it now :-) Fat Hair or Tight Jeans Crash Dieting & Telogen Effluvium "It is a proven scientific fact that a diet that weighs in at less than 1,200 calories a day can trigger sudden hair loss known as "Telogen effluvium". I've never seen a discount for doing this, but wouldn't they put extra bananas in to make sure they had 40 pounds, kind of like a bakers dozen is 13? David do you think more fruit flies come in boxes v. buying them unboxed? I never remember fruit flies being an issue when my parents bought them, but this last box I bought was a fruitfly hotel. The next box might have to go into a garbage bag

I just bought my first box of bananas last week and I love it. I just got done freezing them and what was remarkable was how few bad spots I had to cut out of the bananas as I peeled them. This is because they haven't been handled at all. Before, they were unloaded from the box, then sat on the shelf where people picked them up and looked at them, then they took a ride in the grocery cart whe

The interesting though, is that they don't mention ANYTHING about them being irradiated, so I guess that doesn't happen to coconuts or you know they would mention it as a selling point: Young Thai Coconuts - Products Taste the difference!
