The reason I ask is because I remember something recently about mono-meals in the news. They were more lax in some respects but the philosphy is that too much variety in the meal creates cravings and that after a length of time on mono-meals your cravings disappear. They mentioned having a tomato theme all day one day with simple meals and then moving to another theme the next day. The diet

Ok thanks. I'll just play it by ear. I bought some raw pistachio's last night which the package insists are raw, unpasteurized, untreated, organic and totally whole and ate a small handful. I feel miserable now, though so I'll likely hold off on nuts a while. Good thing the family likes them. I'll have to try sprouting the brazil nuts while I'm waiting and see what happens. Thanks agian.

before raw I've dehydrated lots of stuff, making chips, bananas turned out "ok", potatoes brown and disgusting. I found I had to salt and/or spritz with oil or some type of sweetened water in order to get the effects I wanted on most foods. I don't think there's a way to get decent crispy out of most of them that will satisfy the "raw" guidelines.

I have a home made coconut opener that I use so that I can save the halfs of the shell for bowls, cups (decoration). I haven't had a coconut yet this time around. I've been holding off after someone hinted that there was something wrong with them but didn't say what. Once I've moved I'll try to post pictures of the opener. It does great work and really makes it much easier without destroyi

are there any sauce recipes that don't use oils? I love marinara and salsa but haven't made any for this diet because I have nothing feasible to dip in them. I've thought about trying broccoli or cauliflower. The spaghetti sounds like a dish to try. It sounds simple, quick, and not dehydrated at all but the rancid oils worry me. Besides, I've never liked most olive oils even before goin raw

100. Re: Hello
Remember when Elijah thought he alone was serving the God of Israel. God told him "I have seven thousand who have not bowed their knee to Baal". You're not alone. It may seem like that sometimes but you're not alone. I don't know how current these are but hopefully this helps. Sunfired Raw Food Deli ***- 4915 M. L. King Blvd., Houston, TX . 713-643-2884.

Hi, and welcome. Everyone is probably sick of hearing me repeat this but one of the folks here directed me to a wonderful website . it has a calorie calender and you can find most any raw food on there. Just 6 bananas and 6 medjoll dates along with an avocado or two and the regular veggies and fruit I've been eating can jump my calories up considerably. I've heard that Bananas slow down

Which "raw" nuts are really "raw"? By raw I meaned uncooked/heated during the process from plant to me. ALL foods we eat are processed in some form, even if it's just picking it off the plant and stuffing it in our mouths. Sorry to keep going on about nuts. I broke down and went to Trader Joe's. They didn't have any brazil nuts in the shell so I had to run around a bit

Thanks for the support. That makes me feel better. I just recall a thread where someone took offense at a girl discussing her weakness for "raw" cheese and didn't want to fall into that.

basically get a web picture hosting account at someplace like picasa.google.com, upload your pictures to THAT site then format it according to the sticky post in the forum that this thread is in. Hope this helps.

I have the need to be able to discuss my cravings and weaknesses without worrying about offending anyone. I realize now what I didn't when I signed up on this board that it's not a "raw food" support group but rather a "raw vegan" support group (blame my ADD for not catching it in the forum agreement forms). I have nothing against that and am very grateful for everyone's hel

Your body isn't completely detoxified and is still subject to common illnesses from what I understand. It may be bad but it's possible you're coming down with something "in the air" Hopefully not but there is that possibility. If you do you'll have to decide whether to weather it through or treat it and then how to treat it. I hope you get to feeling better.

I seem to be doing ok today. I'll probably hold off on any nuts and seeds until I need an alternative to the other items. I don't want to depend on nuts and seeds long term anyways. They're just too much work for too little benefit that's too questionable. Save the coconut. I can get fresh young coconut at Trader Joe's sometimes. I might use that once a week or so for a few weeks. I'm go

I really feel for you. Especially considering what I went through last night. My cravings are coming from dishes that I used to cook years ago. Nothing odd ball but certainly dishes I've not touched in years. making fresh guacamole has helped some. I was going to go get some nuts tonight and soak them but I've been wanting brazil nuts and I don't know if those are raw by default in the shell.

I'm thinking of eating a few soaked raw nuts until I can get over this period I'm going through and try to use them to help me past the worst part of it. They have a "Trader Joe's" here that sells "raw nuts" I've used them in the past even before going raw because I've always preferred the taste of most nuts raw versus cooked, especially macadamia nuts. One nut I haven'

Thanks for all the encouragement. I made it through the night. I ended up putting in ear plugs because that helps me get into a deep sleep for some reason. If I don't use ear plugs I sleep very lightly while eating raw. I slept pretty heavy and actually didn't even wake up to go to the rest room Like I have been the first few nights. I've had 4 oranges so far this morning and I'm going t

Tonight I felt pretty bad as the evening wore on so I tried to lay down. I've been trying not to rely too much on avocados during these first few days because I want to get used to eating a lower percentage of fats than healthy carbs. Unfortunately trying to stay lower in fats this soon in the ball game is giving me some grief. Whenever the family cooks and I smell it the cravings kick in and

Matt Monarch has an opinion I find interesting. "Some people tell me they're 75% or 85% raw and that doesn't mean much to me . . . ." Basically he states what good is it to go a percentage raw if the other percent is sweets, animal products, chemically processed foods, etc. I realize some people on here use only healthy vegan alternatives for their non-raw percentages but how many

Out of curiousity are you coordinating with your ob/gyn specialist or going solo on this? I don't know the differences for women versus men but I know I have a heck of a time talking to my DR about what I'm doing.

according to our local store they're not heated but machine processed (process automation). machines carry a level of heat in them by nature so it's iffy at best based on what they've shared.

From what I've read you don't create the enzymes as a result of eating raw foods, you absorb them from the plants you're eating and your body uses only what's needed. That's my understanding. Always hungry suggests you're not getting enough calories. I'd go to fitday.com and set up a dietary calorie counter online and my daily caloric intake if I were you. I'm still trying to get my calor

what states are most prominent for having almonds growing? Thanks for any advance info. I've already emailed and will be printing out and snail mailing them tomorrow. I hate snail mail but sometimes they don't even read their emails.
