My two cents remains the same as when I posted about this earlier. The parents should have done some research. I know a vegan couple here who thinks that human milk is bad because they feel that since the human race is not in survival mode then humans should teach their children from infancy not to rely upon other animals life forces for survival. Before anyone goes balistic or makes accusatio

I don't have all my kitchen equipment out. Are there any quick and easy "dressing" recipes I can use? I do have braggs apple cider vinegar if needed. I'd like a simple recipe that uses little to no vinegar, little to no olive oil, if possible. I have my cuisinart pro out but had already packed my vitamix into storage. I've been using the cuisinart for the smoothies I've made and

Thanks for the advise suncloud. I need to find some grains I can sprout easily while traveling. We're almost done putting things in storage and will be off to look for a house soon. It's always worth a try.

That's interesting. I recall reading about how our body produces digestive enzymes in order to digest our cooked foods because we've destroyed the enzymes in the food. I can't remember where I read this but I gathered from it that the foods have the enzymes in them we need to digest them with and that as we eat foods fresh from the plant it doesn't deplete our own enzymes. Is this incorrect?

I understand what you're saying f1 and I agree with some of it. Unfortunately not everyone is at the level you're at nor are they able to just bottle it up or ignore it. Letting things go isn't a silent task for some. I used to drink, badly. Fortunately for me I had a great sponsor when I chose to quit. I could call him all hours of the night. We'd sit, he'd listen quietly. when I was do

Well, I went out, got some unprocessed rice and pinto beans from the health food store. I made some "raw salsa", rice, and beans and made a rice and bean burro with jalapeƱo. I broke down and used a teaspoon of olive oil in the beans when mashing them. Most places use Lard so I figure I'm doing better just avoiding animal products. Now I need to figure out the calories it gave me. T

The smoothie helped give me an energy boost but didn't completely avoid the gagging reflex. The cravings didn't subside any either. By the end of the 2nd cup I felt as if I was going to hurl. I think I'm going to re-evaluate and perhaps drop back to a 75% to 80% raw with healthy vegan options for the non-raw and try that out for a while. I need to find a good starting point that doesn't promot

I made a 16 oz smoothie. a banana, strawberries, kale, and ice. I was able to get the first cup down no problem. sorta reminded me of strawberry confections. I'm halfway through the 2nd cup. I hope the ice doesn't destroy the plant nutrients. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the idea.

Today I'm officially a year older. The family is mad because I insisted on no cake. they're not talking to me atm. I'm having severe cravings for cooked foods. I'm going nuts. I'm starting to have a gag reflex when I eat fruit. I'm trying not to do too much high fats but I don't know what else to do. Last time I tried this I was making guacamole every day This time around I'm only having

What do the spices to that's not good? If I use fresh herbs from my herb bed, or grind my on mustard powder and make a viable "mustard" is this going to provide the same negative effect I've been reading of some people using pre-dried spices such has garlic powder, onion powder, chili-powder, etc. etc. The spices are what often help me in things like giving up dressings on salads.

You do what works best for you and your body. It's like David (raw food farmer) said. if you set your goals at a reasonable level you can always increase them later. There's nothing grand about going all out and having problems with it. I've often wondered if 100% is more than I can handle so early in the ball game. I'm obsessed with food like a scavenger fish and I hate feeling that way.

I've been thinking on this. It's probably stupid but my mind sometimes latches onto these thoughts and gets philosophical. The impression I get from many of the websites I've found is that "RAW", in relation to the raw food diet means not only uncooked but unprocessed. I think mostly because of how commercial processing can produce heat which can destroy the living energy of the fo

The last time I tried to go raw, before I had any knowledge about the books and websites available to do research I was sort of forced to eat cooked foods when the hosp wouldn't bring me raw foods per my request after the accident. I got extremely sick eating the cooked foods. Physically nauseated and feeling bad for about 3 days, then my body started adjusting again. it took me a few weeks to

I have suffered also from IBS and all I can say is that the standard 80/10/10 philosphy leaves me feeling well. I've had bowel spasms that would make most men faint. While I'm eating fresh fruits and veggies and using avocado as needed I have very few episodes. Usually only brought on by excess on things like onions, garlic, etc. Check out Doug Graham's book on the 80/10/10 diet, As always

Rosabella, I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble. Don't get discouraged though. go to www.fitday.com and start a calorie counter. put in all the foods you're eating as you can sit and type them. Eat foods that help you build up healthy calories. I realized after being told about this calender that I was depriving myself. I increased my calorie intake and am doing much better.
