Anyone with experience with raw collard, mustard, and turnip greens? I'd like to hear input and/or recipes on these as one of the local farm markets has "organic" greens in these varieties. Thanks.

This weekend I took my oldest son to the Big Red Juggling Festival in Ithaca New York at Cornell University. I'm not 100% raw yet. I've just begun to stabilize in my life and am trying to come up with a way I feel is feasible to transition into 100% raw but I thought I'd share my experiences with traveling and looking for raw foods this time. I also went on with my musings about water and filteri

I've lived deep in the metro jungle before myself. I'm liking being in the country and having to plan my trips to the farm markets. It's a bit inconvenient when I want to do a green smoothie and I'm out of kale and not going to the market for a few more days but It's also causing me to be more regulated and exercise greater self control

I'm just going on the word "narcotic" being a legal term but generally refers to drugs that reduce pain. Much like "insane" is a legal definition and not a medical one but generally refers to someone who is mentally ill. There are several narcotics on the list that have nothing to do with how their common or scientific names are spelled. Some barbiturates/hypnotics are on t

I'm posting pictures of the house and the sewage project on the blog if anyone's interested in seeing it. I have the new line in today but am waiting on the sand to cover it. At least we can go pitty in the potty again

I'm not sure how we're going to handle the front porch. Once I'm done with the septic I'm going to redo the foundation and cement the entire underneath of the house so we can use it for crawl space but we're discussing whether to leave the porch open with trellis (sp?) or to add it to the foundation and face it with field stone. I am going to be doing a green house and thought about adding th

I know the country formerly known as Burma classified caffeine as a narcotic but am unaware of other countries doing the same.

my biggest weakness is herbal sun teas. They can't be considered "legally" not raw because they never go over 100 deg f while steeping (around the places I've been long term at least ). Yerba tea has a cousin to caffeine and it's my favorite tea. I have been forcing myself down while doing my raw transition though and don't consume as much. Reasons I've heard that coffee is worse

Fun Fun Fun: Well I'm officially exhausted with my septic problem. The pipe was cracked while searching for the septic and caused a major back up. I finished digging the line out day before yesterday and now I'm cleaning the line path. I had to take a break yesterday to go to atl and pick up a juggling friend who recently underwent major heart surgery after suffering an aortal rupture. I

I've been told that raw garlic is the most powerful antibiotic known to man and to start it in small doses, increasing as needed/tolerated only. Don't take it by itself but with some type of food. Some times I use 2 cloves. It's also a stomach irritant when over eaten, etc. I'm not advocating anything but just giving you more food for thought and research. I hope this helps.

Hi all. I broke down today under extreme pain and visited the hospital. My left side abdominal area was torture. I was diagnosed with an infected bowel due to out pouching of the intestines. One is diverticulitis one is diverticulosis, don't ask me which is which :p. The doctor gave me 2 options. (1) heavy antibiotics and see him in 2 weeks. (2) A "fast" where I drink nothing but

Hello all, It's been quite a while. We've been camping for quite a few months as some of you are aware. I'm back and we now have a home! . We paid for it last week and closing is this Wednesday. The owners allowed us to take possesion this past Saturday. It's definitely a "fixer upper" but it's livable. What's better is that we got the phone and internet hooked up today. Elect

Hi all. It's been a while since I've had regular internet access. Cellular internet isn't all it's made out to be. I'm still around and still trying to go raw. We're still juggling in the mountains. I'm in Virginia now, which leads me to my questions. Does anyone have any resource ideas that would lead me to successful foraging in VA? Blackberries, Raspberries, and now blueberries are ri

Hi everyone. I've been on the road these past few weeks and haven't had much internet access. We got a gig in western NC and will be here for several shows. I'm going up to the mountains today for some hiking. That will be interesting as I hammered my right knee pretty hard with a sledge hammer trying to get the new awning stakes out of the ground. My entire right leg swelled up twice it's n

kinda tangy sweet. I used a vine ripe "organic" tomato from the market. This is the first I tried "strawberry" tomatoes but they had them so I wanted to try. I might try 2 dates next time. (btw, I used medjool dates).

all organic ingredients: 1 tomato (2.25" diameter) 1 strawberry tomato 1 date (more if you like it sweeter) 1 strawberry If wanted you can add a dash of celtic sea salt or other seasoning. put in food processor and pulse to desired consistency, chill in fridge if you like it cold. mix with salad greens of your choice, enjoy. No vinegar or oil necessary edit: I suppose y

I am trying to wean myself from my meds but the other day I was cleaning the basement and attic cobwebs and started a full blown allergy attack. I took 2 benadryl and had to use my albuterol inhaler. I didn't have to use my prescription allergy med thankfully. I was fine afterwards but became extremely thirsty and by the end of the day I had packed on 4lbs (water weight I know). It's stayed o

Is it too early in the season for any healthy clementines or fresh mandarin oranges? If not, would anyone have a good source for online ordering or perhaps local sources anywhere in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee that would have them? I plan on doing a few juggling shows in these areas as we travel so hopefully I'll be within driving distance of a local source. Tha

I'm considering getting "combat conditioning" because it supposedly has actual warm ups, exercises, reps, starting points, etc. for many exercises that use purely body weight to train. Outside of the "combat" nature of the author, anyone have any experience with this book or the author's program? I've been through several websites that claim to have a fitness program but

I've soaked flax seed overnight before. Here's a recipe I found online. I don't use the braggs, or so much lemon, and I've experimented different ingredients. I've never used carrot juice or italian seasonings, etc. Generally diced onions and garlic, and freshly ground mustard powder find their way into my crackers. 4 cups whole flax seeds, soaked 4-6 hours 1/3 to 1/2 cup Braggs Aminos ju
