Wow! Lots of good advice from the previous posts! I also can relate to the bad habits and the desire to do better. I've been there and done that. I went raw and quit smoking at the same time! Not sure that I would recommend that, though. But then, by the same token - it worked so far. I've been raw and clean for a year and almost 9 months. One thing that I wanted to point out to you is

I read something a while ago and it's been bugging me ever since. In the book DINING IN THE RAW by Rita Romano (which has both raw and cooked recipes) she says this about enzyme inhibitors. ...."Therefore, in order to healthfully consume substantial amounts of raw nuts, seeds, grains and beans, it is necessary to germinate them first or supplement with external enzymes. I've read that you can grow flax seeds in a similar fashion as a chia pet. I've never done it, but I will give it a try and then let you know. I have a terra cotta flower pot that was given to me as a gift that came packaged with a cake mix of some kind. The idea was that you bake the cake in the flower pot, as it has no hole in the bottom. So, since the pot is already intended for food conta

Do you mean Vitamineral Green? If so, I also use it in smoothies. Sometimes when I just need a boost in energy, but don't feel hungry, I blend ice, water, Vitamineral Green, ginger, lemon, and stevia or agave nectar and make a really zippy drink! Life Is Good! alive!

Sometimes I use a collander. But in the summer when the fruit flies start coming around I have to switch to jars. If I'm wanting to sprout a lot of seeds I use a gallon jar and use a clean strip of panty hose and a rubber band! Works for me! Life Is Good! alive!

Hi Everybody! I hope you're all having a great weekend! I should start by saying that I have never eaten any squash except zuchinni since going raw. Now the farmer's market is starting to explode with squashes of all colors and sizes. They all look so pretty and I want to eat them!!!! I bought one called delicata. Have you tried them? Do I peel it first, or just eat all of it? Do you e

Hey Newt! Thanks for posting! I've been kinda, sorta, thinking about doing the Master Cleanse. I've never done it before or any other kind of cleanse for that matter. I've been raw for a little over a year and a half. I feel so much better, but I've also been feeling kind of stuck. Like maybe it's time to do something - you know, make some changes. I'm just not sure what that's going to be

Hi Ally! I GOT it from the beginning! So much for humor I agree with m. that it is possible that you need to slowly up your greens and see what happens. I posted once about drinking wheatgrass at the health food store and my husband walking gradually away because I would always start this " uk! Uk!" gagging thing. I can eat greens by the pound now and recently gave the old wheat

Even the OT board is a Vegan board. It specifically states - no animal products. I understand that many people are coming to a living and raw foods lifestyle from a SAD standpoint. I understand that most of us transition rather than jump from SAD to 100% Raw Vegan. However, this is a VEGAN forum. Not a forum to debate, explain or defend Vegan - Vegan is a given here. There are other sit

I don't really have any facts (research) about broccoli to back this up, but I feel that many foods that we regularly eat have the potential to be toxic if we eat too much of them. But, "too much of them" is probably a HUGE amount that nobody ever eats, anyway. I read about parsley being toxic, buckwheat sprouts being toxic, etc. Maybe if you're juicing them on a daily basis, but I s

I love fresh peas and have no problem digesting them. I sprout lentils and love the taste and have never had a problem digesting them, either. I also make hummus from sprouted chickpeas and it digests just fine. I don't know whether they are good foods for other humans, but they seem like good food for me. Life Is Good! alive!

My diet doesn't sound so healthy compared to all of yours. But, it's working for me and keeps me raw and I feel good. Maybe I'll be motivated to improve it as time goes on. I've never been a "sweet tooth" person. I pretty much have to make myself eat fruit. The thought of multiple pieces of fruit sometimes makes my stomach queasy. But, I am getting better and have been eating

How old is your baby? You might be suffering from some hormonal changes that are contributing to feelings of being overwhelmed. If so, they will pass. If you can decide to "go with the flow" and be as positive about what is happening NOW, give as much love to others NOW, make the very best of your situation NOW and show up fully NOW, even if it's not where you really want to be - y

I like www.naturalzing.com They don't charge a huge amount for shipping, I've always had quick and accurate service, their prices are in line or less on most items, they've shared recipes with me, they answer my e-mails quickly, they have always sent good quality products and now and then they even throw in a "freebie". I like those guys! Life Is Good! alive!

There is a difference between transitioning to a raw vegan diet and promoting dairy, promoting meat eating, promoting eating eggs, bugs etc. A big difference. Maybe it might be helpful to read back over the posts and get a little clearer on what was actually being objected to. This board was originally set up as a raw vegan board. Perhaps reading over the FAQ would help. I don't think

This IS a vegan board! I don't think that arugula was necessarily criticizing others for not being vegan. It's just that those who are vegan come to a vegan board to support each other in their being vegan. They don't come to a vegan board to hear all about others opinions on eating bugs, eggs, fish, milk etc. You are certainly entitled to your own opinions and lifestyle. Nobody is debati

I'd vote for "a boatload of raw food". Worked for me! I had this gigantic appetite from time to time in the early days of being raw. My only rule was that I could eat anything I wanted and as much as I wanted - as long as it was raw. My theory is: If you don't want to crave it - don't eat it. Even with the rule of eating anything I wanted and as much as I wanted, I found that I

Also, you can soak, sprout and then grind up lentils. I sometimes combine them with flax seeds to make a sort of burger with them. I use poultry seasoning, parsley, onions and celery and celtic salt to season them and then dehydrate them. If you find that you can tolerate sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds, those combined with hemp seeds should pretty much open back up the world of recipes f

I finally found it! I suddenly remembered something about Westside and Googled it and found it at www.westsideraw.com It's funny, as long as you're not offended by bleeped swearing, a really bad laugh track, nearly naked raw guys getting hammered and possible pot smoking etc. And, the recipes are pretty plain. I dunno - I still liked it! It must have been the nearly naked raw guys! Life I
