It's like everybody fell asleep and only a few of us woke up! People just don't want to take responsibility for their health. They want the doctors to do it. And, the sad thing is that I think that the denial goes so deep that many, many people really truly do not get it - that our food choices impact our health to the degree that they do. They shut it out. That's denial. My family make

Hi Sapphire! I'm glad to read your response and find out that you have all that gratitude going on. It is such a powerful principle. Do you attend any kind of support group? I have found that being in a support group can be a VERY helpful and loving thing to do for yourself. Being with like minded people that you can relate with can work wonders. You might find yourself being helped or ma

It won't be long before the gardens (at least in my area) explode! That means that my sister, neice and mother will be chasing around town to find me and dump their excess produce on me! I'm not complaining - but I WILL be busy. I came home last year to find a 3 foot zuchinni on my kitchen counter - my brother had been on vacation, so everybody in the family got one!!!! Anyhoo, here's somet

PS. Maybe you might want to try starting out your day by making a gratitude list! It helps so much to keep things in perspective. Think about all the people around the planet that have life so much harder than we do in the USA. I can understand that a lack of energy can make for a less positive attitude. By being grateful for all the abundance in your life, you might be able to increase

Hi Sapphire! My hat's off to you! It's got to be hard to do the healthy thing with all those teenagers and their teenager foods around! I have never understood the "crunchy thing" but I have it too. Potato chips have always been my biggest weakness. And - they are one of the most unhealthy foods in the world!!! I'm sorry to hear about your flax dilema. One of the ways I satisfy m

I ordered some mesquite a while back when ordering my usual staples from my favorite online supplier - Natural Zing. Anyhoo - I can't remember why I ordered it. There was probably a recipe that I had seen or something that I had read about the benefits of/uses for mesquite. But, darned if I can remember! Can anyone help me out? What do you do with it? I do have a dehydrator, so cookies or

I haven't tried it, but there's a recipe for broccoli soup on the www.fromsadtoraw.com sight. I've made broccoli soup using almond milk as a base. I've also used water, broccoli, miso, salt and pepper and some olive oil. Just throw it all in the blender! You can add things to it after blending. Tomatoes go well and look pretty. Hi tigger and welcome to the raw foods lifestyle! I don't have a answer for you. I grow mungs now and then, but only sprout them for a day or two at the most. I can't say I've ever experienced the bean turning color like that. You might try reading all the instructions and question/answers at the Sproutpeople.com web sight. Or maybe even e-mail them and ask. If you did anything wrong - most

PS. I wake up smiling every morning! Why? Because I wake up to beautiful fresh air and the birds songs. Every morning it seems a different bird sings me awake! I feel more connected to nature now. I hear the crickets, the owls at night, the wind, the buzzing of bees, the rain, etc. I really am loving it! Life Is Good! alive!

Las year our central air conditioner broke down. When we had a repairman come to look at it, he told us that it would be in the $2,000 range to repair it. My husband was ready to give the go ahead, but I asked him to hold off. I asked him if he thought we could ADAPT. Not only would it be an expense to fix, but it's costly to run all summer long. I think it was on and running on days when we

I love to sprinkle the leaves and also the flowers over the top of my salads. Then I like to sit and just look at my food for a while! It's sooooo pretty! I looked at what my husband was eating the other night and it literally looked SAD (and dead). RAW AND FRESH AND HEALTHY ROCKS! Life Is Good! alive! PS. Don't forget the pansies, too!

I twisted my ankle this spring and it swelled up and also turned colors. I can't help but think that the swelling that occured was beneficial. Some family members tried to get me to take aspirin and some tried to get me to put ice on it to reduce the swelling. I'm not sure why. I just let it do it's thing. I keep trying to trust my body more and "modern medicine mindset" less. But

I've also heard (read - but I don't know where) that buckwheat greens are toxic at a certain level. Doesn't mean that you can't have them at all. I still grow a flat of them now and then. I also grow pea shoots and arugula micro greens. Check them all out at Sproutpeople.com They give all the directions for growing greens. Life Is Good! alive!

Yup - it can be hard at first. I went from cooked to raw overnight and quit smoking at the same time! Don't recomment it!!!!!! I was in shock for two weeks and crazy for a while after that!! One thing that helped me was that I let myself eat anything that I wanted as long as it was raw. Nuts, nut butter, raw bars, avocadoes, etc. along with fruits and veggies. It's not good to let yoursel

Good for you, Maureen! I wish you much success (and fun)! I have a pretty much "constant stream" of sprouts going. I guess my favorites are sunflower greens. I grow those on dirt. Since you have already discovered the Sproutpeople, you can find out about how to grow them. I use them in salads and soups. I like the way they taste and look. I like to sprout lentils. I love th

Does anyone here grow their own stevia? I have a couple of plants that are surviving - not sure that they are thriving - I don't know how big they are supposed to get. I read them described as a bush, once. They don't resemble bushes!!! Also, if they should survive (I'm the black thumb of the family) what do I do with the leaves - in order to use them as a sweetener? I'm doing well gro

You could check out www.rawhike.com and see what Dough Walsh did for his hike. He had lots of boxes of food delivered to him at post offices along the route, but he also did some sprouting along the way. Sounds like you have a good plan already! You could make some tomato powder - just put crispy/crunchy dried tomatoes in the blender. You can use the powder for soup or sauce. Add dried

I have a feeling that going from Sad to Raw overnight might be a big shock to the system and maybe pretty hard to stick with. But, since you've already been Vegan for a while and are already at about 80%, you would probably find that you can do what every you feel is right. We intuitively know more than we know we know. (did that make sense?) Anyhoo, good luck and happy raw lifestyle!!!!!

I think the info came from Nora Lenz at rawschool.com I've always wondered about this topic. I get confused about the issue of what's "natural" and just how much assisting we should try to do in the healing process. I reserve the right to change my mind, but from what I've read lately - I'd have to go with what Nora says. I feel better and better the longer that I'm raw. I like t

I hear ya! There are some times that are harder than others. My son has been visiting (a healthy, organic eating vegan) and it's been harder than usual. He eats a very healthy diet, although not raw. He cooked some beans, had an Amys cheesless pizza, some sprouted tortillas, etc. I had to have little talks with myself a couple of times. I actually considered going cooked while he was here!

Hey Narz! Sorry to hear about your spill. Glad to hear that you're keeping your spirit up! Probably as important for good quick healing as any other factor! I'm glad you weren't hurt any more seriously than you were! I just gotta ask this question - how's your bike doin'? Was it your recumbent? I know it sounds kinda materialistic - but I just LOVE my bike and it'd be hard to accept
