Yeah, don't be discouraged simple living, People are addicted to their unhealthy food and even more addicted to their beliefs. I had an experience a few months back where i had made an avocado/cacao mousse for a potluck. Most people really loved it and couldn't believe it was just 4 raw ingredients, but there were two people who tried it without knowing that it was made with avocado... they

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. LaV, i love the way that you process and express... when I posted this, I had a strong feeling that it would resonate with you. Lightform, thanks for the great link... another inspiration. Pakd, This video made me think about my father too. Although he has Alzheimer's (and hasn't had a stroke), his loss of memory keeps him rooted in the "Now"

Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened -- as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding -- she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story of recovery and awareness -- of how our brains define us and connect us to the

Hi Simple living, Can you spend it on massage? Can you imagine getting $1,000 worth of massage treatments in 4 days...sounds like bliss to me. Ayurvedic is a healing system from India, which could probably be considered a type of holistic medicine. Holistic medicine encompasses all sorts of natural / alternative/ and complimentary healing practices.

I get mine from fresh green coconuts, but I love it so much that I never have it in the fridge for more than a day. I opened 7 coconuts Sunday afternoon, got over 3 quarts and drank the rest with my wheatgrass juice this morning.

Great twist on the quote LaV.... when I saw these, my first thought was "wow, whoever did these was never told not to play with their food!" I've always been humbled by people who are able to see through the rigid confines of our perceived reality, while at the same time expanding our vision by reducing "matter" to the fundamental organic patterns that make up the universe

I can vouch for those green bags! The link above is correct. I thought they were a bit pricey, but they are well worth it. If you greens and herbs will last several weeks... broc, cauli, zukes, cukes etc. last very long without any noticeable decline in flavor or "crispness". I bought them a while ago and have used and reused them much longer than it suggests on the package and they

I've sprouted "forbidden rice". It looks very cool and tastes great too. Very nutty with a purplish color. It has always sprouted fine for me.

I'm not sure who did these. They were sent to me in an email, but i can't find out who the artist is. Pretty amazing though...even though there is some cheese.

I think what ever makes you comfortable and happy is what you should do. I used to wax my back after I heard a table full of women all agree that back hair on men was universally repulsive to all women. ...now I couldn't care less. I'm me...as is. If someone wants to judge me by a genetic disposition for the location of body hair...well, that's someone I don't need to know. Aesthetically

"Laughter, after all, is healthy and organic!" Yes indeed, and laughter is far more effective in alkalinizing the body than diet!

I would have to agree... I've lived here for almost 8 years and my favorite vacation is always just a couple of days off of work. and it's a great place to travel raw too! If you get here before mid April you can still see tons (literally) of humpback whales too!

I've recently started doing yoga and i'm loving evry minute of it. I had been yoga-phobic for so long, but now it's like i've found my true home. The studio where I take yoga lessons also offers kunlun nei gung classes. Has anyone ever tried this? It seems very interesting to me.

Aloha dinesh, Most hardware (or walmart) stores will have mason jars. You want to make sure to get the kind with the two part lids. One part is the ring or band this is the threaded part that screws on to the jar. The other part is the cap or dome and it's just a small flat circle that seals the jar...you won't need this part, but save it anyway because the jars are great for storing your d

I can't imagine less work for more return than rinsing a mason jar full of seeds 2x/day and placing it upside down in a dish rack in the sink until you have a jar of sprouts. I would be surprised if I spend more than 10 minutes total for each quart of sprouts, from first soak to salad.

49. Re: ..
LaV, I feel ya... I think it's the human species that is so complicated. We are all in various stages of learning and unlearning, living through or dealing with, our fears etc. I could make two very similar lists, but the headings would be 'sweet women' vs. 'mean girls'. ...the overall characteristics seem the same. I think pretty often we can find people who can fit in both lists. Then

Yeah David, I never really thought of it like that, but you're right (as usual). Even though I didn't know that I was preparing for this, as I look back on my life, it was definitely leading me here. It makes so much sense now, that some of the darkest unhealthy times of my life were leading me to this place of health and light! Awesome perspective shift right there!

I've always had great luck with simple quart mason jars and some mosquito netting... even with the more mucilaginous seeds like basil. It just requires a few rinses a day and then left to drain at an angle in the sink. Easy, cheap, low-tech!

Aloha there simple, It really doesn't take too much special handling. I've seen some people cut the top of the fruit off and then trim the excess from around the crown before planting it, but ours are just twisted off the plant. You just want to make sure that the soil is well drained and don't let it get totally dusty... but you can see that the soil in the first picture is pretty dry and t

Hi Simple Living, It all sounds pretty normal to me. For the tongue stuff, I just use a soup spoon to scrape the gunk. Don't fret about being "responsible" you only have to be responsible to yourself. If you say that transitioning makes you feel miserable, but all raw feels good, then try all raw. If that starts to feel uncomfortable, do as DZM says and regulate your detox.

That is wonderful pakd! for some reason it reminds me of how Mother Theresa said she would never join an anti-war movement, but she would always join a pro-peace movement. A peace party is such a great idea for kids. Very cool post!

...Also, in the book "The China Study" the author devotes several paragraphs to explaining how a whole food, plant diet has a prophylactic effect against many of the dangerous chemicals found in our food and environment. I took that to mean that eating an all plant diet can offset many of the dangers found in conventional produce. ...but yes, rinsing does make perfect sense too.

That's an interesting observation about your husband pakd. I've noticed that since I stopped eating meat last May, that I have been infinitely less "aggro", nicer to people when I'm driving etc. I think you are right about the balance. ...as far as the death penalty goes, I was against it even when I ate meat, which is hypocritical because each meal was in fact a death sentence for

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. You can always plant the crown of your pineapple in a good sized pot with nice rich soil. You can move it outside to full sun in the summer and then move it back indoors to a sunny window when it gets cold. You won't end up with much fruit, but they do make a pretty house plant.

I suppose i would prefer someone who is on a similar health/lifestyle path as me, but you never know what the universe has in store. I do know that I could date a SAD eater, whereas I don't think I could date a conservative pro-war republican... some differences are just too much for me. Luckily it seems most raw folks are also pro-peace! of course this is all in the theoretical realm for me
