Thanks Prana. Wish I had a garden to use compost.

I think I might continue to use it in transition but I don't think I would plan to eat it regularly.

Is it harmful to consume overripe fruit? I often eat bananas that are almost completely brown on the outside, with skin that falls apart, and flesh that is mushy and tastes almost slightly alcoholic perhaps. Is that unhealthy? And sometimes I throw bruised and mushy old pears into smoothies. And sometimes I don't get around to cutting my pineapples until they smell rancid and have mold on the out

What can be said about it when applied to a raw vegan diet? Obviously it's not a raw substance, but are there any significant health effects, positive or negative? I might add it to salads sometimes.

Organic bananas are 99c/lb at whole foods in Rhode Island. I purchase a 40 lb case for 10% off, or about .89c/lb

I gave up regular coffee a while ago, but didn't start feeling better until I eliminated all sources of caffeine, including chocolate and decaf coffee.

Ha, thanks Jodi! That might come in handy someday! banana, I enjoy lettuce more when it is dry and crispy. I'm grossed out by the pool of liquid I find at the bottom of a bowl of salad.

Yay, thanks! I did manage to find a 4-5 quart one that seems big enough for now. They had oxo, but I went with the cheaper one. It was only $20 so if it breaks it's a lesson learned.

I like Februarygirl's recommendation to gradually eliminate the bad stuff (animal products, stimulants, processed food, etc.), and gradually incorporate more good stuff (fruit, greens, pure water, etc.). I've been doing that for about a month now in an effort to make it to a 100% raw diet. Currently I'm enjoying a high raw vegan diet and I am feeling much better than I did last month. On many occ

What is the biggest salad spinner I can get? In stores I have only seen 10" diameter and about 6" deep.

Wow I didn't know that. I thought distilling (on any scale) removed everything except some compounds that boil before water. It would be interesting to run a test!

oh yeah... that makes more sense... I was happy with this stainless/glass distiller: takes about 6 hours as it says. If you start with hot or even boiling water it will shorten the time, but only my cold water is filtered and I'm too lazy to boil it.

I appreciate the info powerlifer. I may look into those herbs sometime in the near future if I continue to feel so weak and tired all the time. For now I am giving raw foods and regular exercise a chance to work its magic. I also might want to explore probiotic foods later on as I've had probably dozens of courses of antibiotics in the early years of my life, and have been suffering from a few fu

I also think it is more challenging to be raw in a cold climate. I'd love to move south to greener pastures, but I have no idea where or how at this point. Before I got into raw foods I always wanted to move further north. Now the thought of it is rather depressing. Is that raw tabouleh?

powerlifer, if the body is constantly fighting to maintain pH, then would it not behoove us to assist that effort by consuming pH balanced foods? As ron says, the stores must run out eventually if they are constantly pulled to balance pH. (Besides, having calcium pulled from the bones does not sound like a "good" thing.) The analogy of body temperature is a good one. Yes the body is cap

I concur with yogi, once you see and smell the putrid muck that is left behind from distilling city water, you will never want to drink it straight again. Although, the residue left over from distlling filtered water is much less and not nearly as offensive.
