Try warming up some water to about 105 degrees, then slip some dried seaweed (I like wakame) and whatever else seems good (I like slivered shiitake mushrooms, shredded beets and carrots, ground flax or sesame seeds, some mushed avocado, lemon, lime, and/or ginger juice, dulse flakes, etc.) and enjoy a lovely soup. Also, cayenne powder mixed into your food or into a beverage really gets your circ

Prices would probably go out initially, but then they would go way down because we wold no longer be uses vast resources for meat and dairy products. I think that appliance prices (juicers, blenders, dehydrators, etc.) would go up and stay up though.

The sun is wonderful, but you can easily get too much of it. Elephants use mud as sunblock, as do pigs, etc. Animals get sunburned too, even wild ones. Enjoy the sun, but not too much.

I have the opportunity to donate blood in three days. Is there anything (nutritionally etc.) that I should know/do after of before hand? I have never donated before. Also, I bought an osterizer juicer at a thrift store for about 8 bucks the other day. Are osterizers any good? It has a nice-looking juicer plate, and it runs. Other than that, I haven't messed with it yet. I am probably going to

When I eat mon-fruit for a while, I feel light and energetic. If I eat salads, I feel heavy, and rather bloated until the salad is completely out of my system. (Usually 36-48 hours, longer than for fruit) Last night I ate a bunch of shiitake mushrooms, about 4 cups of greens, a little shredded carrot, a bit of sprouts, (soy I think, or mung maybe) with some kombucha, lime juice, dulse, and 2 tbs

Actually, I think the steaming only increases the iron because you need more spinach to make a serving. Also, beets are amazing for iron. Beware of supplemental iron, I've heard bad things about it. But, do whatever you think is best.

Oh wow! My college is only like forty minutes from Boston. I'm moving to Amherst next week, and I'd love to come to the potlucks, I've never met any other rawbies! However, raw recipes usually give me stomach aches, and as a broke college student I can't afford the donation. Are there any other raw events in the area? I'd love to meet some rawbies, or even just get recomendations for stores/ma

I tried GT's Synergy Kombucha Tea for the first time this month, and wow. I really liked it. I bought a case (12 bottles) last week, and drank the whole thing in three days. I am on an incredibly strict budget, but since I eat so much less when I have the tea (there are like 50 cal a bottle I think) that I figured I could afford it. Yesterday, I ordered TWO cases, and have drunk about six bott

Off to college in about a week. I'm on the meal plan... it's gonna be rough. I'm planning to keep a supply of sea veggies, cultured veggies, chickpea miso, lemons, wheatgrass powder and distilled water on hand, and then go after fruits, greens, n' veggies in the dining hall. I think that I'll take a small coffee mill for grinding seeds and a mini-food processor or perhaps a blender with me

I miss steamed vegetables more than anything else. Steamed broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, oh my. I remember reading in one raw food book (I think that it was the Raw Detox one by Natalie something, but I'm not sure) that lightly steaming (5 minutes max) foods like corn, broccoli, etc. really didn't destroy much at all, that almost all of them enzymes were still alive, and that the lig

I make this all the time, and use it as a dip for sliced carrot and cucumber rolled in romaine. Sometimes I add miso, nutritional yeast, dulse, and/or fermented veggies. Soaked walnuts or almonds are good subbed for the avo, and you can swich basil for half the spinach for a pesto.

I agree with the opinions that say that eating fruit can cause those who are sick to feel sicker by way of cleansing and detox. Initailly when I went raw, I had NO energy, very little appetite (both unusual for me), and occational dizziness. I took it easy, ate what I felt like while combining my food well, and now I am energetic, have a good appetite, and I only get dizzy if I am lying down and

I love love love green clay masks. They are fantastic! Also mashed banana masks, avocado masks, peach masks, peppermint steams, oh boy! There's a book, I think called "Natural Beauty" that has a bunch of recipes in it.
