I enthusiasticaly second Morrisson's suggustion of subbing whole flax for flax oil. That has helped me tremendously. I started raw last summer, and during some of the fall, all of the winter and some of this spring I was FREEZING! However, since then I have been exposed to chilly temporatures, and have been fine. I also experienced similar symptoms with my joints initially. I think that it is s

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have some broken capillaries on my face. Three red dots on my cheekbone outside of my right eye, one under my right eye close to my nose, one under my left eye close to my nose, and one under my outer left eye. I've had most of them for a few years, but one of them is quite new. (Nine months, maybe?) I've been

Jeff, You inferred that you have been frequently hungry since going raw. Perhaps you are not eating enough? If you eat enough raw, you won't feel as much as though you need to eat cooked.

I have had depression since I was 11 or so, and I have had panic attacks for about two years. I still have them. My panic attacks are triggered by people/events in my life, not my system, and thus they have not decreased since becoming raw. My on and off depression is affected by the same triggers as my panic attacks, but not exclusively. My depression has somewhat decrease since going raw.

How much is enough? I used to run for an hour every day, but I dreaded it constantly- even when I had just finished my run, I felt gloomy thinking that I'd have to do it again the next day. I think that I was healthier when I was doing this, but I really don't like running. Would 1/2 hour of gentle rebounding 3x a week and an hour-long walk 3x a week be sufficient?

I read some of Frederic Patenaude's "Raw Secrets" yesterday, and it convinced me to go over to eating only fruits, veggies, sea veggies, nuts, and seeds. I tried nori wraps for dinner today with avocado, lemon, tomatoes, and a little water blended to make a filling, along with some sliced carrots and romaine leaves. They were SO bland! I'm used to adding miso, nutritional yeast, and cay

Thank you for your wisdom, Bryan. I do know that nutritional yeast and miso are cooked, but I have encluded them in my diet because I felt unsure of getting an adequate supply of some vitamins and minerals. I will try combinations that are more simple. Also, the days that I have fat+veggie meals for lunc/dinner almost always means two pineapples or a watermelon around 8 am, and then a big fat+

I was regular for about my first two years of having a period, but then it became quie unpredictable. I would miss periods, and they would bounce around quite a bit. I've been r/v for about 14 months, and I've only had one in that time.

Bananas are not good for bm's, in my opinion. Too many nuts can hurt, as well as eating dehydrated food. Try eating juicy fruit in the mornings, and a combination of watery vegatables (celery, tomatoes, cucumber) with fresh greens (spinach, romaine, lambsquarters) and some nuts and/or seeds for lunch and dinner. (It is also helpful to soak the nuts and seeds, especially flax seeds, which should

I have no problem staying raw- no cooked cravings, etc, and I don't eat raw "junk" like dehydrated or poorly combined food or dried fruit, but when I eat I eat too much. After I eat fruits, (watermelon and pineapple, mostly) I eat either half a big watermelon (about a basket ball and a halfsized), a whole smallish one (3/4 bball sized, approx.), or two pineapples. A bit much for my be

Congradulations Tammie! rawk on! The more you uncook, the more confortable with it you will become, and pretty soon you will feel as though your options are limitless. Then, (oddly enough) you are likely to feel inclined to limit your culinary creations to a few favorites, and transition toward very very simple recipes, or even mono-eating (one food at a time) and perhaps "proper" food

Okay, I know, we've been talking about fats a lot lately. I just have a few more questions. 1. I like a good bit of what I've read about the 80:10:10 approach, but there are a few things that keep me from a traditional version of that approach. Firstly, I like to eat only mono-combined fruit on most days. This makes me feel lighter, and seems to help my digestion. For the other 2-4 days out o

beets: wherever you use carrots, delicious in soups, salads, juices, kimchi, wraps... turnips, mashed turnip, ravioli wrappers, chips, breads... Try slicing the turnips into very thin slices, but with as wide a diameter as possible. Then dehydrate til chewy, top with nut butter and herbs or oil, salt and garlic, then dehydrate a bit more. Voila! Garlic bread.

RawGuy: The author of the Master Cleanse says NOT to use Grade A. He says that since it is more refined, it doesn't contain the minerals that your body needs to cleanse and function. Try to use organic lemons too, as they have more vitamins and minerals. I know that they're a bit more expensive, but I've noticed that they are a lot juicier, and you actually end up getting a better buy. Try Goo

Maybe a gaspacho with tabouli, miso soup with sushi, cream of spinach with a marinated mushroom-based salad, cream of mushroom soup with a crispy sandwich, pumpkin soup with coconut ravioli, lemon butter soup with lasagna, sea noodle soup with flatbreads and almond mayo... Something like that?

Hmm. Well, let's think. I know that flax seeds, chia seeds, evening primrose seeds, and black current oil are known as "super sources", but I'm not sure if any of them are "perfectly" balanced. Oh, wait, I think that hemp seeds are supposed to be perfect, and they also supply something that fish oils don't have, I think (although I might be wrong on that one.) I know that fla

If I were a wild monkey girl... I would use a food processer with multiple ENAMEL "blades"... I would take b-12 supplements, that I'd freshly extract from a rotting log with a thin stick... I wouldn't know the "principles" of proper food combining, but I would know what made me feel unwell... I would only eat when my growling tummy reminded me to, because I would

Actually, I read a report on the aformentioned study (which indicates that a low-fat diet does no help reduce the risk of cancer) and it said that the study made no distinction between polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, or saturated fats. (Personally, I highly doubt that they made a distinction between raw and cooked fats.) Also, the report named other studies that indicated that a so-called "

115. Re: Menus
Well, I don't really plan "menus", since I only uncook for myself, I just plan my meals based on a) the ingredients I have, b) proper food combining principles, and c) what tastes good. Since I usually eat quite simply, a full-blown meal would look like: a) a huge salad w/dressing b) pate, sliced veggies, and wrappers to wrap them up in (nori or lettuce) c) a big bowl of blended r

What are everyone's thoughts and/or experiences with eating and/or eliminating fermented foods? Currently, I eat miso and fermented veggies. I haven't eaten tempeh since before I was raw. I generally just go with my body and what feels good to me, and so far I've found that miso seems pretty innocuous to slightly helpful, and fermented veggies seem beneficial. However, you never know. This coul
