I remembered watching this video a short while ago while I was researching which blender to buy. This is the only video that I have seen where the presenter seasons his smoothie with a enzyme powder. This never would have occurred to me, I was not even aware of enzymes or digestive aids. Anyways I was curious, it sounds like a great idea. I asked at a health conscious grocery store near me about

Oh I know Matt Monarch is biased, for sure. I watched the Hurom vs Greenstar video Proteus mentioned. I think as a reseller MM is emphasizing the easier to use products (general public wants affordable easy but still good results). Less likely to be returned compared to harder to use products wouldn't you say? I like John Kohler's videos better (more detail/ pros & cons not just about user fr

So far I just throw whatever good stuff I can find in the carafe. What I put in is different every time, very experimental at the moment. In general I try to get as much greens in there as I can and just enough fruits to keep it tasty. I usually end up with about 50/50 up to 2/3 balance either way. Ingredients I have used so far: Kale, lettuce, cucumber, celery, carrots, zucchini, collard gre

@ WY So the 32 oz container would not work on the Vitaprep 3 either then? I do see a 48 oz container listed in the manual, but I'm not sure it's bpa free, possibly it might be for the pro series & not the vitaprep. I guess it boils down to calling Vitamix and asking. @all Personally I'm kinda feeling disappointed. Essentially I spent $400 on a blender so that I wouldn't have to de

@veghunter Thanks, now that I have the 5200 I understand how it operates. The blend station advance will require a dedicated circuit right? Looking at the manual it says 120 volts 15 amps. Correct me if I am wrong. As far as the blend station advance goes, did someone say somewhere that seeds get pulverized in this blender? According to this video Vitaprep 3 does not… Not a huge dea

Which is better, greens on top of the blades, or fruit? I'm still having trouble getting the blade going in the beginning. Makes me think about buying the Vitaprep 3 and using the 48 oz carafe I have ordered since it is bpa free.

@WY AFAIK w/ the blendtec it's not that you have to program the cycles, it's that the user is encouraged to assign programs that the user (or employees family members etc) will use the most. You can buy a device to add your own programs (blend cycles) that you design using software on a computer, the device enables you to transfer the blend cycle to the blender, then on the blender you can ass

@WY I kinda figured, but it still counts that the Norwalk was "not for" quite a few people. @JuicerKatz Lol, 3 different juicers, 3 steep learning curves! And talk about burning a hole in the wallet grins. I will have to think these things over, meanwhile become more familiar with the Vitamix.

@ Wheatgrass yogi Are all nutmilk/juicing bags nylon? From what I have seen online it does seem like the Norwalk is fussy, loud, and exorbitantly expensive. But it still strikes me as being the best design — triturating then pressing… How was the purchase of the Norwalk a mistake from your perspective? How long did you give yourself to get familiar with it? If you were in my shoes and am

Found this while doing a search of all the Craigslist on the west coast. Followed the link to the video of an older refurb Norwalk 270s for sale Looked around on the website out of curiosity. Apparently there is another "new" modified refurbished Norwalk 275 for sale too. I like the addition of higher legs allowing the use of jars instead of the cloth bags and a digi

Ah ok thanks for the link veghunter. I did use juice but I didn't know you were only supposed to keep it on low for only a few seconds then crank it up fairly quickly. My uncle was around he's a veteran of the construction industry and mentioned the new motor smell thing. I do not know if that's normal or not for the Vitamix though.

So now that I have a Vitamix 5200, how would it compare if I blended ingredients then pressed it with the Welles/People's Press , to say buying a brand new Norwalk 275 which has a triturator and electronic press? My perception is I would be losing a substantial amount of nutrition, say 50%? Hmm I don't know that a press at $400 would be justified if I can buy the Greenstar Elite for $560

Chill out. Getting all worked up about machines is silly. Watch the video for a laugh (is related to juicers) ;-). JJ you seem to know the intricacies of the Greenstar, why not share what you know on video? Help people overcome the steep learning curve so to speak. I would definitely appreciate this as I am in the market for a top of the line juicer myself. Massai the op asked for sugge

I just bought the Vitamix 5200, I ask because I think I could smell the motor after a blend which has me a little worried. Did very minimal cuts yesterday, quartered apples/oranges shaped produce and halved the greens/banannas/longer items. Wanted to see how well the Vitamix would take it. I'll try 2" tonight, then 1" tomorrow and 1/4" the next day, see how the motor likes it a

I am just wondering if there is any convenient rule of thumb for how finely one should cut fruits and veggies for the blender?

Yeah I'm well aware of the necessity of a little extra space, I used a food prep attachment for about a year (32 oz probably), blending in one go was impossible due to strength of motor and solids take up so much volumetric space compared to liquid. I basically had to blend a handful of fruits/veggies at a time and keep adding to the blend. Having a 64 oz carafe seems ridiculously enormous to

I went ahead and exchanged the 5200 for another 5200, the issue was handled by Costco so I can't say how Vitamix's support is either way yet but my impression is they will take care of you. It was hard for me to re-purchase the 5200 full well knowing I could buy the Waring retail for the exact same cost but with more HP, that I could buy the Vitamix carafe for another $150 and just stick it o

I opened the 5200 today, the handle grip (two halves) somehow did not connect during the manufacturing process, and even with plenty of force I could not get the two halves to snap together. For $400 I'm expecting better than that, so I am going to return it. Not sure if I will get it replaced or decide on a different model. Just looked at the commercial offerings by Waring, didn't look around

So I went to Costco yesterday and bought the Vitamix 5200 (roughly $400) and the grain carafe as well (roughly $98). I bought the Vitamix 5200 since it was on sale, 7 year warrantee is decent, and apparently the models sold via Costco differ slightly from the stock model w/ soft switches/dials. I can easily return it if I decide on another blender, have not opened it as of yet because I am still

Wow that is pretty insane, up to 14 racks w/ 36 cubic feet. Two of these would still be alot cheaper than the excalibur commercial unit. @ Jodi Looks like it's from back to front, the "heater" is the removable back panel from what I can tell. I like the ease of cleaning concept.

Am I seeing this right? You can be in variable speed, then if you flip to high it will go max? Can you go from 0 mph to high or is it more like 11mph (lowest variable speed) to max. The "high" is essentially a pulse button or is it just more power across the board? Last but not least, what's the difference between this and the new turboblend VS? Sorry for the million questions but I'm b

I laughed my head off mere seconds after starting the video I hear "smacks lips". Other than that cool. Costco near me (Salem, Oregon) is doing a Vitamix demo which started yesterday (21st of Jan), I think it goes for about a week. I hope they are demoing the VS, and that it's on discount, If so I will probably buy one.

The Omega Vert HD was the other option I was looking at for it's combination of ease of use and intact nutrition juice output. Your suggestion of using a blender is based purely on ease of use? Is the nutrition "damage" from blending that irrelevant? So your thinking can be compared to cameras, that it's the lighter compact camera that is more likely to taken everywhere thus being us

Hi I've been taking my time researching blenders and juicers. In the past I would just blend up fruit with a food prep attachment. I loved it, but even so it was somewhat tedious and took a lot of time to prepare and clean up. I started looking at high end blenders, and since I like to be through in investigating options and even alternatives I started reading up on juicers. Thus far I like
