I just went to the top of the site www.cissrl.itand searched for "Piazza Effepi" as Super Juicer says in the other thread and I got results, but now I realize those are for the standard juicers, not relevant to the press. I am thinking I'd like something made out of stainless steel a fine mesh but in the shape of a flexible square cloth.

Hmm I'm thinking maybe these Chemex Coffee Filters, only thing is it mentions filtering out some oils/fats.. Probably want those, on the other hand maybe the press will squeeze them out anyways. Main concern is just avoiding the mess and it would be great to avoid introducing anything foreign/unhealthy into the juice. It'd be nice if the "filter" were re-usable, then I wouldn't have

I opted to not get the dry blade, I think my (wet) blade is dull now though. Have been adding some ice at the end of my blends for a colder drink, 3-4 quite large ice cubes too, not distilled either. I have got to get around to remedying that. The features that make the Vitamix carafe stand out is the lid and the plunger which really do help if you want to be able to blend at slower speeds, maybe

Hi I've juiced with my new refurb Norwalk 275 a couple times this week, I got it on Monday March 28th. Yesterday was the messiest episode thus far, but I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was juicing a bunch of greens and mushy fruit (nectarines). Blowback wasn't a big deal, but pressing was a pain, cloths kept coming undone and even spewed greens on me and the refrigerator behind me ha ha.

Corathegreen expressed my sentiments well, although I am new on the scene, didn't know about this guy until yesterday with a video showing him eating mono blended bananna/date meals.

The article states that it's more important that fruits/greens etc are alkaline once digested. It sounded like a more recent discovery. Anyways, yeah, seems like the common denominator is: avoid manufactured food, keep the meat intake very low if at all, eat mostly greens and some fruits/veggies I think I'll allow myself to eat whatever fruit I want, but try to eat more greens than fruit.

Awesome Coco, way to be a mom. It's a shame we can't just graze wherever we are like our ancestors did. Fresh's contribution to my thinking was in the warning of that mental block we sometimes have in believing that family members are incapable of contributing to the prep or collection of the food. As long as that block is there, you won't give them a chance. You miss out on some help too.

I wouldn't be able to forego fruits completely. I guess I am just desperate to have energy, to not feel so much pain in my joints and spine. To not struggle so hard to go to bed early and rise early. But I am still on a heavy duty acne medication Isotretinoin (think Accutane) so I guess I was fantasizing thinking that only eating alkaline items would make up for that, and once I am off of the

Yeah I saw that during my intensive research period trying to decide which blender to buy. It was fun, watching a nerd vent and find all the holes in the will it blend episode. Blendtec sure picked the wrong episode to go cheap on.

Hi all, So I've been drinking 2 green smoothies a day for about a month now, still eating solids, still not raw but I'm moving in that direction. Am trying out a more alkaline diet. Found this chart from energiseforlife.com. On it it says Himalayan Salt is highly alkaline. I'm suspicious, I've bought the salt and I'm using it. But I'm scratching my head wondering if Himalayan Salt is supposed

You don't have to be the martyr is the point. The other side of it is to just consider how things could be simpler, healthier, more fun for everybody even in the smallest ways. If you prepare a meal like it's a chore, eating it is going to be a chore. Anyways, it's idealistic sure and a bit high minded for someone wrangling with a couple kids in a fast paced lifestyle, but it can only be construc

Jeeeeeez. Lets see how much we can stuff into a Vitamix o_O ha ha. I'll have to give it a shot. I'm putting alot more greens in my blends than I used to, putting more alkaline stuff into it, but compared to this I seem like a child w/ sweet tooth. Could someone transcribe what he put into that energy soup? I'm hearing impaired and it was really hard for me to understand what he said.

It's been a day since I last looked in here, no one's biting, so here's what I have to say. The idea of blending then juicing is really frowned on here because of the oxidization of the blending process. Another concern with blending is the heat which can destroy the enzymes if it rises above 118 degrees. That being said, there is the ITO manual juice press. Can't think of anything else other

Which food processor did you get? Sure you can make a "smoothie" with a food prep, the resulting blend just will not be as smooth/fine if it were done via blender. It really depends on which blender/food prep you got though. I blended smoothies for a year using an immersion blender with a food prep attachment. It comes down to personal preference pretty much on how fine you want the smo

@ prana Thanks for the links, was useful reading to me, particularly the idea of fasting after relapse into the old habitual diet, been struggling with that. Just experienced incredibly sore throat, upset stomache etc today and had to take a nap.

Hi Magnolia, I immediately had to look in your thread when I saw the title. I share in your sentiments, I have been going through a similar process of "detoxing" in number of ways including addictions & losing my girlfriend like you describe. I lost my father last year as well which is kinda like this huge ice-burg, it's this huge force under the surface and you can sense that i

Coming to this thread late, but I picked up a book yesterday called "The Ultimate pH Solution" about acidic/alkalinity diet, I should probably return it, but I wanted a start to learn a bit more beyond the basic premise. Downloaded a http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=ONxqN&m=LX3OFEledDQX6B&b=kw0ooLcezN9WvGvMBkHXzQ]Acid/Alkaline Food Chartenergiseforlife.com. I am picking this

@ Proteus Was looking at the Magimixes you were talking about. Is your main intent blending green smoothies and the likes without the traditional water/juice? I wonder how oxidization and heat would be in comparison to the blenders, or even Norwalk's triturator. Megamix + Welles Press the combined cost still being less than half the cost of a Norwalk makes me wonder if it's a viable or even

Well put pborst. Watched the video till the end hah. Nice - never seen it before, laughed at the mullet, but dude he's got that mojo going! And the music is actually good compared to today's (my generation's) garbage. Whenever it would do a close-up on the vocalist's face I would think John Kohler? lol. Anyways back to the topic. One thing I've been wondering during my consideration of purchas

@ Eliza Generally the preferred high end juicers are the Norwalk, Greenstar, Omega 8000/9000 (no difference except color) then there's the Omega Vert. I have been thinking about getting a juicer for awhile now for myself, personally I am only thinking about the Norwalk & Greenstar. We should really be juicing more greens than fruits or other things like nuts or whatever if health really is

@Madinah Thanks, never heard of cabbages being used this way. Am pretty much entirely clueless about probiotics and enzymes in general. Definitely jumped the gun on my purchase. @Powerlifter Could you give some good examples of what bitter herbs would stimulate the release of enzymes (saliva is the enzyme I take it?). For me the main draw of the E3 Supreme Enzymes was I thought it was e

I have been in the juicing/blending section quite a bit for help deciding on a blender & juicer. In my research online about blenders I came across a video a typical Vitamix VS Blendtec comparison. What was interesting to me is that this is the only video I saw where the presenter uses a digestive enzyme in a smoothie. The specific product is the E3 Enzyme Supreme (8 OZ powder) in particu

@ WY Yeah I feel like people make it intentionally hard and especially expensive to be healthy sometimes. I received my 48 oz carafe a few days ago, it's definitely more convenient compared to the 64 oz. I think w/ a 32 oz carafe you would have the truble of keeping liquid from splashing through the hole of the lid at high speeds. It's great to be able to put the blender under the cabinets

Just talked to Vitamix representatives from both departments (household & commercial). Allegedly there is a 48 ounce carafe for the Vitaprep 3, it is product # 15504. It is the smallest carafe available for the Vitaprep 3. Forewarning; it's not bpa free! All household carafes have bpa free carafes (going 3 years now) and none of the commercial carafes are bpa free according to the representat

Blending fruit on the lowest setting until it's mush, turning off the blender, then adding greens and the harder to blend items on top (such as three ice cubes in my case to keep the temperature cool), then switch it up to high seems to work really well for me. I think I was putting too much stuff too many ingredients in the carafe before. I have a book about green smoothies now w/ a bunch of

Maybe it's one of those don't over do it things. Using enzymes every day seems a bit much.
