Oh god. I was at a raw food cafe by me and was drinking an aloe, MSM, spirulina, irish moss and oj juice. It was completely green. A couple of guido cops walked in (pardon the label--but they definitly fit the stereotype of typical Queens/brooklyn italian). I wasn't sure how they had wandered in there but one of them gave me a disgusted look and said "that's not that wheat-grass stuff is it?

I am eating a salad with a tahini/ginger dressing that I bought at a raw food health store and it is incredible! The best dressing I ever had. I will ask them next time I go...but am not sure if they would want to give the recipe away. Anyone know how I can make this??? (just mix tahini and ginger..???) I have never even made my own tahini.

I have cut my fat intake. I used to have several glasses of almond milk a day along with coconut butter and olive oil in salad. Now I drink only 3-4 cups of nut milk a week (and have also use less nuts and dilute it more) and have been using less oils. But now my symptoms seem to be coming back and right now I have developed an UTI. I am really distressed by this... I feel as if I should be healt

I didn't eat my first salad until I was in my early twenties. My family was by no means health conscious..and I grew up just consuming whatever I wanted as as much as I wanted. I was a picky eater... and never enjoyed vegetables and was unwilling to try anything new. I have changed my diet DRAMATICALLY (and I do eat salads now regularly and even enjoy them). But my family still eats the same way

I knew abou the uropathy...but I don't think that should negate all the great information he has put out there. He has been one of the few raw gurus out there who talks about the importance of using alkalalized reverse osmosis water. I think his 30-day detox sounds brilliant and from what I heard has been very beneficial for many people. And I also like how non-dogmatic approach. It seems as i

According to Hippocrates Health Institute they say at 75% you can still experience all the health benefits of a raw diet. Which is encouraging because I don't eat 100% raw either.

sunshine-- Yes. I have a book by about the autism epidemic and mercury link called "Evidence of Harm". A lot of people in the field (and parents) are very aware of the controvery. Some really do believe it is the thimersol in vaccinations, as a lot of these kids develop typically until around the age of 2 or 3..coincidentally at the same time the shots are administered. And some pare

hi reet My candida has cleared up a bit. I stopped eating a lot of fruit till I was a little better..but now I am back to eating the amount that I had been before. The only thing I cut out was the nut milks.. which I was drinking at least 2-3 cups of a day. I also limit oils a little more (olive & coconut) but I never considered my intake of fatty oils to be very high anyway. And I don't e

I'm glad so many people responded! I work as a teacher for students with autism. I am finishing my coursework to sit for a certification exam so that I can be a Behavior Analyst which will allow me to work as a consultant.I am not passionate about this. My dream is to be a chef, to own a health food store or a retreat center. I am inspired by people who are passionate about raw foods and h

I was wondering what most people on this forum do for living. Do many of you work in the health food industry? Have you made a career out of your interest in raw foods/health foods, etc.?

Ally, Thanks for the advice! I know it is candida. While on a SAD diet I had CHRONIC yeast infections. I was always at the doctors and on meds. So I know from experience what it is... and since I have been eating mostly raw for the past 2 months and mostly on fruits.. I am pretty sure that this is what is causing it. Right now I am cutting the fruits down and have eliminated the nuts for a wh

I have been purchasing raw almonds from a health food store and have been very happy with the quality. I found out that this is their source. In the store they cost $17/pound for raw organic nuts. Through their website they are $9.95 a pount for 5 pounds and $8.78 a pound for 25 pounds. They also offer non-organic almonds at cheaper prices. This health food store also offers other raw nut

uma-- I have been mixing a lot. I would eat a fruit salad of banana, kiwi, cherries, raspberries, blueberries & dates (with only minor alterations) several times a day most days. I would also make smoothies with nut milk..usually with banana, cherries and coconut butter and drink green juices such as kale/cucumber/spinnach. I also eat a lot of spinach/carrots and cucumbe or zucchini salads wi

I have been eating mostly fruit...and have been feeling lately like I was beginning to develop candida. Now I am having the beginning symptoms of a yeast infection..and I haven't had one in years (not since before I went vegetarian). I am disappointed because I thought going raw would make me healthier. I have been eating a large amount of dates and other sugary fruits. Considering lots of people

I have been in contact with them. I'm aware of the meat thing (and the nudity thing) and am not very happy about it. I'm on the fence about the whole thing. I was just interested in hearing other what others knew about it. I do think that for $750 a month all food included it is not a bad deal. I would love to eat mangos and advocados right off the trees and learn about permaculture. Anyone know

I buy a raw cereal and it is DELICIOUS! The ingredients include pecans, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, dates, young coconut, apples & blueberries. It looks as if they just blend the fruit, mix in the nuts & dehydrate. When I get a dehydrator sometime I will try to make it.

I used to run 6 miles 5 times a week. Since focusing on becoming raw, I am worried that once I start running again or working out.. I will come home STARVING. I don't eat very much these days...but I'm usually not that hungry. When I would run, I would always come home and crave carbs..toast, some cereal, pasta, etc I always felt like I needed something heavy as oppossed to a salad or fruits. I w

I am trying to make the transition to raw and am doing well... but I am having a hard time dealing with all the conflicting information I receive from all the different sources. One book I read says to eat as much fruits as possible..fruits are great. So I have been eating tons of fruits. But Hippocrates Institute advises to only eat 15% fruits due to a dramatic increases in sugar from hybrid

I think it is always difficult outside of a big city. I live about 2 hours outside of NYC..although there are plenty of health food stores locally there are no juice bars and no raw restaurnts and I don't have any raw friends. I have thought about doing what you are doing and moving to a place where there are more like-minded people. I may move to NYC, but ultimately I think the warmer climates a

David Jubb has a really intense detox program to cleanse everything (liver, gall-bladder, parasites). It's a 14+ day program but you can modify it. 5 things he suggest that you fast from are: starch (bananas & carrots), all meat & dairy products, all cooked or heated foods (pasteurized juices, etc.) and all solid foods. This is an excerpt I have from his 14-day fast: "what to c
