I WWOOFed in Nova Scotia this past June for 12 days. It was a great experience. Membership fees are not expensive by the way.. $40 a year?.. I brought my boyfriend with me and he didn't pay any dues. We plan on WWOOFing across the US and other places in the world. It is such a great way to see the world, learn about organic farming/simple living and get to know what life is like for other people.

I'm lucky. Here in NY there are a lot of raw places. Most of them are gourmet & expensive though an frequented by models an celebs. One just opened up not too long ago--outside of the city and is very down to earth and for the average person. It is like a deli where you can order your food and sit down to eat. They have a lending library, wireless internet, etc. and is 100% raw. They sell all

I was wondering what sort of water filtration system everyone uses. I am looking into all different types (reverse osmosis, distiller, etc.) but I don't know which is the best. Thanks

One thing not mentioned yet-- when you buy non-organic produce (particulary bananas) that are grown outside the US in S. America you run the risk of DDT. DDT was the pesticide used in the US that was found to cause cancer, birth defects, etc. and nearly led to the extinction of the bald eagle. It was banned in the US, but we still produce it to sell to poor countries in S. America..who in turn us

I visited their take out place. The food really is outstanding (the ice cream....my god) but all their food seems to be very high in fat. The ice cream is loaded with fat, made out of cashews & coconut meat. I enjoy it but can't go there too often!

I have this problem also. David Wolfe advises against having any sweet fruit until symtoms disappear for a month. I find this to be very limiting. But if you are hypoglycemic (as it sounds) a diet high in fruit might be a problem.

I am looking for a machine to make ice cream/nut butters. What would you guys recommend? Champion? Green Star? I already have a Breville Juicer that I am happy with.. are there any ice cream makers out there that make ice creams just as good as one of the expenisive juicers?

I was wondering if someone could tell me which fruits & veggies are high in fat or recommend a book or internet source where I can look it up. I know avocados and olives are of course... but I was looking at Gabriel Cousen's book and was shocked that a major criticism of his diet is that it is too high in fat. This is something I have never thought about in my diet...until I received Mike

anaken-- I was over there.. by Chyrstie. I didn't find a single durian or coconut. I asked for them, but no one understood me I was thinking of bringing a picture with me next time. I really didn't expect them to be so hard to find!

I experience the same thing... It is a bit frusterating because I never intended to go 100% for many reasons. But now I feel like I am being forced to..which is both good and bad. But my poor body is definitly confused!

I feel okay.. but I have been eating mostly fruits for months now. I was always a person that avoided sugar. I never ate honey--sugary fruits--dried fruits, etc. But now I live on it. How do you I know if I am getting too much sugars? I used to be a big pasta/bread person. Are sugar from carbs similiar to sugar from fruits?

I dont know.. but its no refined foods, no animal products, no vegetable oils.. the documentary is less focused on selling this type of diet. The entire video simply promotes a plant-based diet. Any raw foodist should be pleased with it.

you can get it off amazon too. But ravediet.com offers a "pay it forward" deal where you can get several of them in bulk for about $7. I don't like his RAVE diet website though. It seems like it is promoting some sort of fad diet. I forgot what RAVE stands for but it is simply a diet free of refined foods & animal products.

Has anyone here seen Eating The RAVE diet documentary??? I saw it the other nite and was totally blown away. I cannot imagine how after seeing this anyone would want to ever eat an animal based diet! The first part talks about how our eating habits are a form of assisted suicide. How all of our health problems are related to our diets. And the increase in all illnesses is correlated to our

I find that having eliminated all junk foods and stocking up on raw snacks (my new fave is dried cherries or dates & almond butter. yum! ) And making frequent raw desserts (pies, puddings, cakes & ice cream) have eliminated all my cravings for junk foods.

They say that it is a myth. Along the lines of the "we need milk for calcium" propoganda. The only people who have ever been deficient in protein are those who are starving. Protein is found in everything! And the truth is americans are actually getting too much protein which leads to all sorts of major health problems. If your doctors ever expresses concern to you about your diet ask h

I had that same problem when I started raw. I need lots of flavor & variety. I can't eat the same things everyday and I can't eat just simple meals of one or two fruits/veggies. I will lose my mind! And when you are transitioning I hardly see how making dull meals will entice you to go raw completely or motivate you to keep going! What worked for me is buying more cookbooks and making

I have had tons of candida problems since becoming raw. And I was eating mostly fruits! From what I have been reading high-glycemic or hybrid fruits can cause candida overgrowth..these include bananas, kiwis, dates, etc.(all things that I consumed like crazy when I first started). Since cutting down on these fruits and adding more greens things seem to be going well. Some people on this board say

I don't eat raw everyday but this is may be a typical menu for a raw day breakfast: raw granola cereal with blueberries in banana milk snack: brazilian nut milk, banana, cacoa, date & flax smoothie lunch: kale/apple/cucumber/lemon juice snack: oj with aloe smoothie dinner: For a raw dinner I struggle a bit because I don't know a lot of good recipes yet. I will usually ma

coconut-- How do you prepare meals like that? They look so professional. I am always so jealous of other peoples gourmet meal preperations and presentation abilities. I am still eating my salads with olive oil and apple-cider vinegar. It's really sad! Anyway--silly question. When you say 1/2 cup of ginger or 1 Tbsp ginger. Do you mean ginger grated? ginger juiced? The whole ginger root?

I think it was Shirley's Wellness Cafe where she said that she no longer has periods..that periods are unnatural. This was quite shocking to me and I don't really accept it at this point...but who knows maybe she is right.

A few months back someone had posted a link to an article-- it was written by a raw vegan. Very inspirational. His name may have been Shannen or something similiar and he talked about his personal account of being raised on the standard-african-american diet (worse than the SAD diet). He spoke about his health problems, weight problems and how he finally became a raw vegan. He looks like a bodyb

I use a natural soap. Not to sure what's in it but it definitly has pieces of cacoa nibs in it. I only wash my face in the mornings...unless I put make up on during the day. I use either aloe gel (directly from the plant) or coconut oil a couple times a week at nite and for a daily moisturizer I use a raw, vegan product called bee-yummy from live-live.com (I recently ran out of it though--so I h
