i'm having the same experience as bryan described. i used to have a glass of wine almost everyday for a while before i began transitioning to raw. now i'm at the stage where the occasional glass of red wine sounds good, and so i have one. but i am really beginning to dislike the feeling afterwards. i'm not so keen on the mind-numbing aspects anymore, nor do i particularly enjoy the bad breath

hellokitty- regardless of the exact percent raw you are, and regardless of what anyone else thinks about your transition, if you feel ok, then it is ok. listening to your body and how you are feeling is the best barometer in judging your success.

i've made something very similar, and you're right, i thought they were really good, too. for the tortillas, what helps with the consistency is to add a tablespoon or 2 of ground flax meal. it doesn't change the taste and soaks up any extra water.

ok. such a simple concept, but brilliant. start with just a few greens... good idea. the other thing i forgot to mention is that i don't have a fancy vita-mix, just a cheapo that requires adding liquid. upgrading to a nice blender is definitely on my list. does it make a big difference in the taste and quality of smoothies to use a better blender?

is there any way to make these not taste green? i have to admit that the only green smoothie i've ever made was using spirulina. i'm leary of putting leafy greens in because i love the taste of fruit, and don't want to get a strong yukky taste. i'm looking for more ways to get more fresh greens in. i posted here instead of the recipe forum hoping to get more feedback, and also because i

wheat comes in a close second.... it makes me so spaced out and sleepy, then i crave the coffee. OR i have the coffee which makes me jittery, and then crave the wheat which brings me down. they are both on my "no-no" list. and you're right, once identified, the culprits have so much less power.

hellokitty- here is my approach to raw, which is the same as my approach to life: all of the formulas and guidelines to the raw food diet were developed by others who have found what has worked for them. we are all different. if someone else thrives on only fruit, great. if someone else thrives at only 80% raw, good for them. one person may transition easily and successfully going cold turk

oh my gosh!! i feel the love! i'm grabbing that rope! thank you all so much ) i know in my heart it's the coffee. it is a sly, evil drug for me, and that is what has started this tiptoeing into other foods that clearly aren't good for me. but i'm back! it's morning and i'm about to have a yummy smoothie. i wish i could quote each and every post and reply to all of you personnaly, but let

my 2 months of 95% raw have slowly, over the past week or so, drifted south! today i think 50% raw would be a stretch. it all started with that little 1oz bit of coffee last week. it ruined my sobriety. and that's exactly how i feel when i have caffeine- like i'm on a mind-altering drug. i've increased that 1 oz over the past week to a small cup, and that has lead to crappy food choices. i lov

for me, anything in excess doesn't work. if i eat avocados everyday, even just a small one, i get tired of them and don't feel all that great. i might have one or a half of one a few times a week, or go a week or two really not wanting one. it's the same with nuts. for me, it's not that one will lead to more and more, or a few nuts or seeds will lead to way too many handfuls. i guess as far as th

there are different varieties of avocados. the hass variety have a firmer skin, although sometimes they can be on the thinner side. however, any type you choose should yield gently to the touch when ripe. too soft and they may have gone a little too far and are rancid.

mmm suzie, sounds good. i love corn. usually i cut it off of the cob with a sharp knife, toss in some diced tomatoes, jalepenos, and maybe a little lemon and olive oil....one of my very favorite salads. sometimes i process the corn with a touch of jalepenos and tad of good salt and make tortilla chips using the dehydrator, but straight off the cob is my fav.

i love avocados and eat them regularly. they are filling, a great transition food, if not a keeper for the long run. i either make guacamole, or my preferred method, i just cut them in half, add a sprinkle of cayenne, and scoop it out with a spoon using the tough skin as my bowl. mmm yum!

i absolutely love peas! i don't like to eat the outside, tho, like snow peas. try some english peas where you throw away the ouside. omg. i love them! maybe your family would like those better. they are super sweet and really yummy.

yea- i've thought about glass, it's what i use at home, but not so practical to bring that to the restaurant where i work. oh well, i have 4 more plastic bottles to use, and then i think i might just abstain. it's only for 4 hours or so that i'm at work most of the time.

omg.... i have yet to find a suitable and healthy way to drink water at work. it seems my choices are the plastic you just described, a questionable stainless steel vessel or their tapwater. maybe i'll just hydrate really well before work and then dryfast until i'm done. i don't know......

oooooh broccoli greens.... was that bitter, or very broccoli-flavored? the kale taste virtually disappears, does the broccoli leaf taste disappear too? i'm not that fond of broccoli by itself.

i'm working on not being judgemental of sad eaters. we are all progressing to the best of our ability, and i believe that everyone tries to do the best they can and make the best choices given the knowledge and inner strength that they have. it is far more difficult for me to allow others to make their own choices than it is for me to do my own thing and not care what others think.

you can try bringing some lightweight, denser types of foods like dried fruits and nuts to hold you over until you can get to a produce market. that should keep you satisfied for hours.
