I had been making this stuff for a few months with soft wheatberries, and it seemed ok. But then one day I read that Hippocrates Institute (which had advocated this method for years) discovered it wasn't such a good idea after all. They decided to have theirs tested by an outside lab, and found that it had all kinds of bacteria, both good and bad, so they stopped the practice. After I read tha

Prana- Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I'll check that out. rzman10001- Actually, I really think the timing was coincidental. I think I was in a period of some heavy detoxing when I posted that comment. I'm feeling much, much better and I believe I have found some balance and am on a good program right now, thanks to some great ideas and advice I got here, as well as trial and error on

oh no... flax is a goitrogen?? That's not good. I wonder with the iodine supplement I'm taking if it will be an issue.

I am looking for some supplemental protein right now, and I just found this great looking raw, vegan protein powder online. It's called Garden of Life Raw Protein Powder. I don't know anything about it, so I'm looking for opinions if any of you guys have tried it or know about it. Generally, I prefer to get what I need from just fresh, whole foods. However, this might be a good thing for me in th

I have her cookbook, Raw Food Made Easy. She has some really good, simple, easy recipes in there, and none of them require a dehydrator.

Well, I'm not really into pre-made mixes, I prefer fresh stuff, but I may check out the protein shake option. I'm a little curious now.... Tamukha- I understand what you're saying about not needing all that much protein. I'm not one one of those protein-phobic people. I just have this issue that I'm dealing with in re-growing my hair back. I'm going about it from many angles, and want to be s

Thanks, Those are good ideas. A couple more questions: What is a raw protein shake?? Something I would buy that is pre-made, or do I make it from scratch? Also, where do I get food grade hydrogen peroxide? Is that different from the stuff at the drugstore?

I'm looking for some ways to increase protein, and let go of my dairy options. I'm eating soaked seeds, and I'm thinking about adding some good quality nuts. But I'm a little concerned about the mold I hear is on raw nuts. I can't really tolerate any of that right now. So, assuming nuts have some sort of mold that I can't see, can I remove it somehow? Maybe soak them is hydrogen peroxide or so

I've been vegetarian for almost 20 years, and about 8 years ago I just started craving fresh juices. That led to somehow stumbling upon this site, which led to alot of reading. I think I've read all of the major raw food books, and was most inspired by Victoria Boutenco's 12 Steps to Raw. Over the years, although I've always felt better eating raw, I've swayed back into some bad habits... but I a

yes.. to clarify- I'm doing implants. It had been, that if i didn't do them, my bowels wouldn't move very much on their own, which in my mind is constipation. I don't think it was the smoothies. Those I have only added back a few days ago and this has been going on (off and on) since I began detoxing 2 or 3 months ago. I am seeing progress. Today everything moved fine on its own. It may back u

SGMav- I've done so much reading and so much research for the stuff I'm dealing with, and I can tell you this much: You will definitely find conflicting information out there, including here, in this forum. However, that being said, I have to say that I have gotten alot of great advice here. The key for me has been to weigh out the differing opinions, go for some trial and error with the my

Merry- I'm doing the enemas because my bowels are not moving on their own. It's been going on for weeks, for as long as I've been on this steady path of detoxing and re-building my health. There's another thread I started about candida where I go into the specifics of what's going on with me. They are not high enemas I am doing, just about 8-12 ounces at a time- enough to stimulate the bowels to

I can't edit anymore... but I've been thinking, I can't really blame the fruit for feeling really awful right now. I think this must be a phase, some sort of healing crisis or cleansing reaction. I really feel borderline ill.. headache, nausea, etc. and I am eating so healthy. I am pretty convinced that my body is just flooded with toxins. I'm just going to have to tough it out and I'll ha

After 3 or 4 days of my smoothies, I am starting to feel like crap again. So foggy... I feel like there's so much going on, it's so hard to isolate the real culprit. Honestly, I wish I could just quit eating altogether, but of course that's not an option. I made some cooked beans yesterday, and after I ate not more than 1/8 of a cup or so, I felt so sick. I'm done with cooked stuff for now. I

I've gone back to drinking the wheatgrass juice, about 2 oz a day, and also adding back my fruit smoothies in the morning and fresh juice in the afternoon. I'm feeling great so far, even with the added sugar from the fresh fruit and juice. It just didn't seem right to leave out all this healthy stuff. I was really craving it and missing it for the few weeks I was leaving it out. I've also been

Thanks Rawalice I'm actually really ok. It was a blessing to lose so much hair, because now I am taking really good care of myself. I have done hours and hours of research, and have come accross some great natural therapies for restoring fallen hair. Of course it all begins with a healthy lifestyle and diet, but I'm also working directly with my scalp. I love Edgar Cayce. I'll google him

I just realized that there's a private sunny window in my bedroom that gets beautiful warm sun in the afternoon. I'm adding a daily afternoon sunbath to my routine. That's just about the time I need to take a little rest, also. Perfect.

Very insightful, Prana. I suspect there could be some of that going on for me. I also feel that it's just more of a longterm habitual way of relating to food. Kind of like riding a bike. I've developed momentum, and now I've gained quite alot of speed and so it's not so easy to let go of that last link to the cooked world. My diet is better now than it ever has been. I guess as the momentum f

I've been vegetarian for many, many years, and over time, have become mostly raw and mostly vegan. Each time I give that extra push, and completely go for the 100% mark, I slip back into bad habits and seem to be worse off with my diet than if I had just accepted and been happy with my progress at keeping a mostly raw, mostly vegan diet. So here I am again, dealing with health issues, and beco

Great, Prana. Very interesting. Where did you purchase that probiotic? Is that the actual brand name of it? And I have been attempting to discover the cause of this imbalance for many months now. I have posted in another recent thread called "cause of candida: fat vs. sugar" where I have outlined a bunch of symptoms and what I have been doing. Thanks again for your thoughts on th
